The First West Florida Women s Auxiliary would like you to participate in our first Retreat. We plan to leave at 6:30 p.m. October 21 st and return October 23 rd. We anticipate a Spirit filled and fun time at the Surfside Christian Retreat in Panama City, Fl. The Surfside is a beachfront dorm style retreat site with a swimming pool, meeting room, kitchen and a store. Because the site is completely dorm style, you will need to bring twin sized linen and pillow, towels and wash cloths. The bathrooms are also dorm style. The cost of the entire stay (including taxes and fees) is $75.00 per person. This price includes transportation and the Saturday meals. There is a sign-up sheet that will need to be returned along with a $25 deposit. The remainder ($50) will have to be paid by October 10 th. I hope to see you in Panama City. In 2009, she spoke to her pastor, Rev. Dempsey Daniels of the New Faith Baptist church about her vision. He graciously gave her the green light to move forward with the assignment. The New Faith Baptist has been feeding the homeless at the Alfred Washburn Center since They have had other churches participate; notably Greater First Baptist in Cantonment. As well as, many civic organizations such as the Omega Lamplighters pictured here. 3 Inspired to Inspire Evening of Honors & Jazz (Honoree Mamie Hixon with Jackie Parker) On Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Mustin Officer s Club-NAS, Where Are My Sisters (WAMS) hosted Inspired to Inspire Evening of Honors & Jazz benefit featuring keynote speaker and performer, La Porsha Renae (American Idol finalist). The atmosphere of this elegant event was created by a well-known Pensacola jazz band Groove Symphony and poet Alicia Waters while noshing on heavy hors d oeuvres. During this event, 5 distinguished women and organizations were honored within our community, Mamie Hixon, Rishy Studer, Junior League of Pensacola, Sarah Banner and Dr. Shai Hall, whose life and career has served as an inspiration to us all. Dr. Shai Hall is also the daughter of Sis Ora Hall. Dr. Shai Hall did her undergraduate studies at Bethune Cookman College, now Bethune Cookman University. She furthered her education at Baltimore Maryland Dental Surgery School. After graduating, Dr. Hall enlisted as a Captain in the United States Air Force and exited as a Major after serving her country for six years. Dr. Hall opened her practice, The Dental Spa in Marietta, Georgia for four years. She is presently the owner of The Affordable Dentures in Dothan, Alabama. Dr. Hall not only has the title DDS but FICOI and AAIP. She is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontist. Mrs. Mamie Hixon is an assistant professor at UWF, well known author, motivational speaker and local grammarian. She is the writer, producer and director of Our Voices Are Many, a presentation featuring local talent. This event was also a perfect way to apprise our community on all the wonderful and much needed services rendered by Favor House. They ve served our community for 37 years by being committed to service victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. A portion of ticket proceeds and all donated funds will go to benefit Favor House so they can continue their great work. It's not too late to donate to this cause. Ja'Miya is the immediate past Red Circle queen (see her pictured above with her sister Janiah wearing the pink flower) Janiah is the current Red Circle queen. Both girls are active in the church and the YPD. They are the daughters of Rev. Robbin & Mrs. Tracy Alexander. The family attends the Antioch Baptist church were Dr. Tyler Hardeman is their pastor and their father serves as an Associate Minister.

5 Seek God First by Sister Sabrina Williams, Young Woman's Component Director Do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:31-33 My heart s desire is to put God first in my life in all circumstances. When God asks us to seek Him first, He does not promise that our lives will run smoother. He doesn t say that our relationships will be better, or that our health will improve. He asks us to simply come to Him, lay down our worries at His feet, and trust that He will provide. It takes effort to seek Him first. It requires surrendering our own wants and asking Him what His will is for our lives. Thankfully, God has included a promise along with this challenging instruction. All these things will be given to you as well. God, our Father, who loves us beyond measure, knows what we need. He will provide for us. I have seen how God has provided for me and my family, and I want to continue to see God at work in our lives as we seek to put Him first. 8 FROM THE EDITOR Jacqueline Parker Thank you for reading our very first newsletter! This is volume 1. No.1. To GOD BE THE GLORY! This newsletter will be published every quarter with the events and activities of the Woman's Auxiliary. It is my hope, that all women that attend churches in our district will want to become involved in the Woman's Auxiliary. The Deaconess & Deacon's Wives Ministry has resumed, Sister Dannie Chandler serves as the Director. Two components have been added the Young Woman's & Intermediate Woman's Component. Sisters Sabrina Williams & Chauntrise Collins will be working with that group. Sister Teresa Duke is the Director for the Intermediate Woman's Component.With the existing ministries already in place, There is room for everyone! This year First West Florida District Association celebrates 145 years in ministry. As we look forward to the future; we shall rejoice in knowing that God has been with us every step of the way. We are thankful for the labor, prayers and commitment that has brought us thus far. There is an obligation to be steadfast in our labor. It is an honor to be chosen to do the work. As Pastor Russell Wright so eloquently reminds us " The work is divine"... This should be the spirit that we illustrate in every task.
