3 President s Welcome May 8, 2017 Greetings in the name of our Awesome and Great God, I say to you as the Apostle Paul expressed to those in Philippi, Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:2-6 KJV I am humbled and delighted to have my wife by my side on this wonderful and sometimes challenging journey. On behalf of the entire cabinet, we welcome you to the Parent Body s 113 th Annual Session, and the 109 th Annual Session of our Women s Auxiliary of the Connecticut State Missionary Baptist Convention, Inc. Our annual sessions mark both the culmination of a year s work and the beginning of another. God has granted us the opportunity to make a difference in our churches and our beloved convention. The benevolent work of the convention is on-going throughout the year. Last year it was Flint, Michigan and the water crisis. This year, with your continued support we sent financial assistance to our brothers and sisters in Louisiana who were ravaged by flooding. Our Women s Auxiliary with their Fashion Share, provided much needed items to women in need. Our Foreign Mission Division sent 3 Barrels loaded with needed items for the families and students of the Laura G. Shular Christian School in Liberia, Africa. While these efforts are great, together we can do even greater. During the next two years, I look forward with great anticipation of what God will do through the efforts of His people. As you recall at the last session, I mentioned that we intended to include the Ushers Division, Associate Ministers Division, and Laymen s Division. These newly added divisions join the Liturgical Division, Pastors Division, and Pastors Wives Forum, we envisioned in my first term. Our Women s Auxiliary and the Congress of Christian Education continue to be the heartbeat of our Convention. To God be the Glory! Our Affiliated Districts are active and thriving, thank you to our Moderators and the Women District Presidents. I am grateful to the Young Adults Division

4 President s Welcome (cont.) leadership for conducting very spiritual and fruitful services in each of our five District Associations as agreed. This year, we will be presenting Academic Scholarships to 5 students, one, from each district, to assist them as they progress on to higher education. These scholarship presentations will be a part of our closing banquet on Thursday evening. We are looking forward to a high time in the Lord with some of our feature speakers; Valerie Shultz-Wilson, President and CEO, Southern Connecticut Urban League as our Social Justice Speaker. ConnCAN (our partner around Education Advocacy) will again conduct a panel on educational issues germane to us and our children. Our annual banquet speaker on Thursday evening will be the dynamic Rev. Dr. Calvin McKinney, General Secretary, National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Again, we will hear from many of our own pastors and preachers from around this great state of ours. I am grateful for all those who work so hard to help me shape, conduct and coordinate our convention. Without them none of this would be possible. Whether this is your first convention or one of many down through the years, it is my hope and sincere prayer that you will find it edifying, exciting, encouraging, informative and inspirational. Again welcome! Thank you for taking the time to share a great time in fellowship and worship during this week. Together we are, Shifting the Paradigm for 21 st Century Ministry. Continuing in the Service of our Lord, Rev. Dr. Lindsay E. Curtis Reverend Dr. Lindsay E. Curtis Convention President

5 Women s Auxiliary President s Welcome May 9, 2017 It is with the love and joy of Jesus Christ our Savior, I greet you my sisters and brothers, and welcome you to the Connecticut State Missionary Baptist Convention 113 th Annual Session and the 109 th Session of the CSMBC Women s Auxiliary. I know that life has its challenges and struggles and so we invite you to bring your cares to the Master, for He cares for you. I pray that the worship and praise of our 2016 annual session has remained a source of strength and all has been well with you. As we embark on our week of worship, fellowship, prayer and study, I believe that God will meet us here and in His presence there will be blessings. During the 2016 annual session, God moved on the hearts of his people as his spirit fell on us, we worshiped and were anointed with the gift of praise. It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as Women s Auxiliary President for another year. I am even more grateful and humbled at the commitment of our convention in Shifting the Paradigm for 21 st Century Ministry. The Women s Auxiliary has and will continue to diligently pursue the vision of President Reverend Dr. Lindsay E. Curtis, and support him and his wife First Lady Janice Curtis, as they share with us their God-centered leadership, guiding us to be a State Convention that benefits its membership spiritually and tangibly. To the ladies who have not been active in our Women s Auxiliary, I encourage you to make contact with one of my officers and exchange your name and number while you re here this week. We will contact you and explore how you can use your time and talent in this great convention. You will not find a more dedicated, willing, and God loving group of women to fellowship and serve with. Lastly, I extend my personal thanks to our President, Reverend Dr. Lindsay E. Curtis and Sister Janice Curtis for their support, encouragement and leadership through this Paradigm Shift of the Connecticut State Missionary Baptist Convention. It is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him. Let the praise begin! 1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV In His Service, Sister La Donna J. Blow Sister La Donna J. Blow, Women s Auxiliary President
