5 From the Desk of Amber Shirley, Youth Ministry Director As the new youth leader here at CFUMC, I must begin by expressing how thankful I am for all of you who have given me such a warm welcome in the past two weeks. I am originally from Macon, Georgia and with the challenge of what little family I have living in Florida and North Carolina, I can say you all have already made this church feel like home. Just to tell you a bit about myself, I recently graduated from Emmanuel College with a Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministries. I grew up in the United Methodist Church, so I have a deep appreciation for its ministries. Since 7 th grade, I have known my calling in ministry and my biggest supporters have always been members of this denomination. I wouldn t be who I am today without them. This is precisely why I am a Youth Pastor. What makes my heart beat on a daily basis is the hope within me that I might one day make as big of a difference in the lives of youth, much like my youth pastors did for me. My goal as a minister is to encourage the youth to take responsibility for their faith while creating memorable Christ centered experiences along the way. My passion is youth ministry and I can t imagine myself doing anything else. I personally thank you for the opportunity to speak into the lives of your children. The privilege is all mine, and I am looking forward to the years ahead. The youth meet every Sunday from 5:30pm-7:00 pm in the youth room. The specific activities for Sundays will be announced accordingly. We will begin meeting on Wednesday evenings in the youth room at 5:30pm starting September 4th. All youth meetings are open to any youth in 6th through 12th grades. For any questions, feel free to contact Amber Shirley by calling or texting (478) or ing her at ambershirley@ymail.com. In Christ, Amber Shirley Welcome New Members! A big welcome to our new members Louellen Besuden and Tara, Trey, and Daniel Wood. Please help us in welcoming them to the CFUMC church family! Disciple Study Materials Study Manuals for Monday Disciple 2, Wednesday Disciple 4, and Wednesday Jesus & the Gospels, are available in the church office. You can also pick up a schedule of class dates. The cost for the book is $ Please write Disciple on your check memo line Honduras Mission Trip Meeting There will be a required meeting for all who are interested in the Honduras Mission Trip. The meeting will be held on Sunday, September 15 from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Dinner will be provided. Please contact Tara Beauchamp or Al Fleming for more information.
