WELCOME to this service of worship and thank you for being with us today. You are invited to join us for COFFEE & CONVERSATION in the Dr. G. M. Young Memorial Hall immediately following the worship service. You are encouraged to visit the various tables set up in the gym with information on the different groups/committees within our church. DOVE and DROPLETS (Baptism): The design combines the Dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit, with water drops, among which a green Cross is figured. This tapestry was designed by Rev. Rod Sykes for Wilmot Church in the late 1980 s. BENEVOLENT OFFERING: On the Sunday we celebrate Holy Communion we collect a special Benevolent Offering. This is used to provide food vouchers for those in need on Tuesday mornings. FOOD BANK DONATIONS! The 1 st Sunday of each month the Outreach Committee collects donations for the Food Bank. Non-perishable items can be place in and beside the trunk at the bottom of the sanctuary front entrance stairs. Thanks to Ed Topolski who then transports these items to the Fredericton and Salvation Army Food Banks. Thank you for your donations! VISIT: If you would like a visit from one of our ministers please give them a call. Rev. Rose-Hannah Gaskin can be reached at and Rev. Ellen Beairsto can be reached at WEEKLY E-LETTER: Don t forget to pick up a copy of Rose-Hannah s weekly e-letter. If you would like to receive this through please be sure that Marlene has your address. 3 CONGRATULATIONS to Lorraine Silliphant on being the recipient of the Pioneer of Human Rights Award. This award was presented to Lorraine at a ceremony on Sept. 11 th. The New Brunswick Pioneer of Human Rights Award is presented to recognize pioneers in the protection and promotion of human rights and their historic contributions to human rights in Canada. APPRECIATION FROM THE TRUSTEES: Yet again, the Trustees express gratitude on behalf of the congregation to Dorean Estey of Baie d Urfe QC. Her most recent projects were to provide two CD recorders for the Walter Beairsto Memorial Service Recording Ministry of Wilmot Church, and the refinishing or refurbishing of wood items at the front of the sanctuary. These include the railings in front of the choir, the platform front, the large communion table, the original communion table, the baptismal font, the two wooden chairs, the flower stand, and the two offering tables. While not particularly noticeable without a close-up view, the work was badly needed and the new appearance, made possible through Doreen s generosity, further beautifies our sanctuary. In addition, the ordering of the Choir Memorial Window, about to be installed, was made possible by Dorean s willingness to supplement the special fund designated for the window. THANK YOU: This summer the Interchurch Refugee Committee on behalf of the congregations of Wilmot, St. Paul's, and Forest Hill United welcomed two Iraqi refugee families that arrived from Syria. These families are now settled in apartments, the children are in school and university, the adults are in English Language classes at the Multicultural Association. Thanks to all for the many donations of household items including furniture. The families are very appreciative of the gifts provided by people from Wilmot. There will be a time/event planned this fall to meet the new families. THANK YOU to everyone who has supported and spread the word about the Prayer Shawl Ministry during the past year! We have heard wonderful stories about the many ways (y)our shawls have helped people on their journeys. We appreciate the yarn and supplies sent our way. Our group meets on the first Wednesday of the month in the Parlour at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us. No experience necessary, only good intentions. For more information, please contact Jilanna Eagles (jgeagles@nbnet.nb.ca; ), Kellie Jones ( ) or drop by our table in the hall after church today. If you would like to give a prayer shawl to someone you know, please contact a member of the Prayer Shawl group or one of the Ministers. 4
