Kemp, Pastors, Ministers, Delegates, District Officers and members of this Annual Conference. The Rules Committee submits the following recommendations to be governed by during the Conference. Recommendations: Rule # 1 The bar of the conference shall be the first three rows across the sanctuary. Rule # 2 All sessions shall begin and end at the scheduled times. Rule # 3 The Bible will be the primary resource we use, as well as the Book of Discipline of the A. M. E. Zion Church; then we will use the latest edition of Roberts Rules of Order. Rule # 4 The grounds around the church shall be considered a smoke free zone. Rule # 5 All amenities and comforts shall be extended to all guests and visitors to the conference as well as request from the Presiding Prelate. Rule # 6 Cell phones shall be on silent at all times inside the church building. The Presiding Prelate shall determine price of penalty or fine of unauthorized use of a cell phone. M. E. ZION CHURCH Portland, Oregon To the Right Rev. Dennis V. Proctor, Presiding Bishop, Supervisor Deborah Diane Proctor, Our Missionary Supervisor, To Presiding Elder Rev. Robert F. Kemp, Presiding Elder Emeritus L. J. Thompson, Host Pastor Rev. Robert N. Probasco, Pastors, Ministers, Delegates, Annual Conference Officers, Members, Friends and Guest of the One Hundred and Twentieth Annual Session of the Oregon/Washington Annual Conference. I, Lucy Amie, Delegate of Community A.M. E. Zion Church Cheerfully report the following: The Trustees have been hard at work this year. They have restructured the pulpit floor then re-carpeted the entire sanctuary, painted walls and trims in the hallway leading to the fellowship hall and completed the floors in the women s restroom, bought a new refrigerator and repaired the air condition in the sanctuary. The Evangelism Board organized the Annual fall revival with guest speaker Rev. Doctor Stephen Pogue, Pastor from Greater Cooper AME in Oakland, California. Set aside a Saturday to go to the Evergreen Park (a park known for drug problems) to witness to adults and youth. Passed out information about the church. Organized Jaden Alvin benefit concert with Pat Wright s Total Experience choir of Seattle along with the Disciples of Praise choir. A donation of $ was raised during the concert. Donated food to the Postal Service drive. Issued twenty two food baskets for Thanksgiving and eleven during Christmas. The board also organized a neighborhood block party which was very successful. The men bar-b-cued and food was served to all. The fire department came and gave safety and diabetes information, a drill team from Evergreen High School performed. The United Marine Corp was scheduled to attend but had to canceled due to putting out fires. The Brothers in Christ are still in charge of the 5 th Sunday services to include bringing the message, ushering, prayers, and men s choir. Brothers in Christ also completed some exterior repairs on the church. Held the Men s day program the 3 rd Sunday in September. The men hold their meetings the third Saturday each month. They also helped to make the block party a success by preparing the food. On

7 April 14 th, the brothers in Christ sponsored the children fishing at Clineline Park. Each child received their own fishing pole, reel and tee shirt. The Board of Christian Education Department has been on the move. We had a successful Vacation Bible School which was suited to fit all ages. Our VBS theme this year was Living as God s Covenanted People. At the end of the week, we paraded through the neighborhood with the vacation bible school banner Vacation Bible School is scheduled for July 30 th to August 3 rd. Our theme this year is No Friend Like Jesus, Get Connected. Our 1 st annual Sunday Rally was held on March 18 th. Bro Mark Westbrooks brought words of encourage. We have Sunday school every Sunday with a curriculum to fit all ages. We have a total of eight teachers in attendance, two are alternates which gives us a total of ten. Lay Counsel prepares an ongoing prayer breakfasts the Saturday before the first Sunday of each month. The Music Department has had many commitments this year. We have visited several churches and continue to support our Pastor and the church. We still have three choirs. The Buds and Angelic Voices of Praise (children choir) The children are active in our church and are growing in so many ways. We are happy to report they now sing on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. We had a great Christmas Program performed by the children. They also attended their annual Christmas dinner at the Claim Jumper restaurant in Clackamas and, went to the singing Christmas tree at the Church of God in Vancouver, continue to participate in liturgical dance and sign language. In January the children was in charged of the entire worship service to include prayer and the message. The message was brought by Kariel Poe titled I Am A Christian. The children are surely on the move!! The Stewart Board continues to support the Pastor and the entire Community family. We continue to help receive, count and keep financial records on a weekly basis. The board also organized the 2011 Christmas Party held at Izzy s Restaurant. Organized our Pastor s 2 nd appreciation beginning with a luncheon at the Hilton and closing on Sunday afternoon with our guest speaker Rev. Earlene Garrett of New Jersey.

8 YAMS/YACM Have been very supportive for various activities serving food and taking care of the kitchen duties and cleanups. We are very thankful to these young people. They also attended the Christian education winter Meeting in Los Angeles California. Assisted with preparing and serving food for our vacation bible school. Participated in the Oregon/Washington pancake feed at Applebees to raise funds for the district. On January 14 th, held a Teens N Jeans workshop for youth at the PUD building. Also collected can goods and jeans for those in need. Adult Missionaries meet every Monday for bible study at 11am using the Upper Room and the Parent Body Missionary Study Book as our study guides. We have visited the sick and shut-ins to hold bible study with them. Prepared and delivered toiletries to a domestic violence facility, and under garments for the women at the Clark County Jail, also assisted with the preparation of food baskets given out during Thanksgiving. Missionaries also held the 1 s annual mother/daughter luncheon at the church which Mother Lula(Mother of Community) and Sister Gloria Kelsey of Allen Temple gave words of encouragement. This occasion also included a skit by the young adults based on Queen Esther and Queen Vasti. Usher Board(s) all is well with the Usher Boards as they are consistently on their post. The ushers also their afternoon program on February 12th th Church Publicity Captured digital images of events and services during the 119 th Session of the OR-WA Annual Conference. Also created bulletins, fliers, inserts of events and submitted news release to local media and churches. Also, partnered with the Deaconess, for the prison fellowship ministry Angel Tree Program this year. We serviced 20 children and invited the children and families to attend our Christmas program and services. Also requested that they remain after services to fellowship with our members and have refreshments. This was our seventh year participating in this program. Van Ministry has continued to provide transportation to and from Community for church services and Sunday school. Other Ministries: The Grant writing committee, ( The Faith Builders )have obtained the necessary license and is now incorporated. This committee is now in the process of building a web site obtaining a bank account and applying for community grants.

9 Resurrection was established in September The purpose was to provide a support group for addictions through the 12 Step Program. Bro. Reginald Steen chairs this program as a living witness by being clean and sober for 23 years. This group meets every Friday from 7pm to 8:30pm. Community AME Zion Church is "Raising the level of Expectation." We have a loving, spirit filled church that is committed to grow and strive in God's will and not our own. We love sharing the "Good News" for all that will hear. We hosted a successful 119th Annual Conference which was held at the downtown Vancouver Hilton. It was successful because God was with us. As Our Pastor has always stated, Working together Works We ask that you keep us in prayers as we continue to grow in our church and in our work for the Lord. 10 First AME Zion AME Church 4304 North Vancouver Vancouver & Skidmore Pastor Robert N. Probasco, Sr. First Church New Church Telephone Number * * Delegate Report The year was one of the most challenging years that First AME Zion Church has experienced. Pastor Robert Probasco s messages throughout this year have focused on encouraging the congregation to work together, be supportive of one another and seek God s will for our individual lives. In June 2011 thirty members of the congregation participated in the Good In the Hood parade. The theme of the float was Fruits of the Spirit. The float received a number of standing ovations for the Christian music that was being played. Over 200 packages of candy fruits designed for children along with other wrapped candies were distributed along the parade route with flyers that provide information about the church services, Community Breakfast, Bible Study and other events. July 30 and August 15 six members of First Church spent the day (8:00-4:00 pm) distributing free math books and educational materials to parents who came from the neighborhood and places as far away as Gresham, Beaverton, and Hillsboro. More than one ton of new math materials were given out at no charge. Several of the people who took materials sent them to the Nigeria and several other countries outside of the United States. The second annual clothing and coat drive was held in October and many neighbors and families from outside the community were able to select clothing, coats, shoes and other resources for free. Many families expressed their gratitude for being able to secure the clothing and other materials for FREE. The Calendar Tea held October 17, 2011 raised over $3,000 and there was great enthusiasm at both the program (that included songs, poems, mime, signing) and at the tea where a wide array of soups, main dishes and desserts were served.

11 In December slightly used and new blankets were passed out to people experiencing homelessness. More than 20 blankets were distributed. First Church paid for more than 75 hours of tutoring for middle and high school students. This tutoring enabled several youth to pass their math courses at school. AME Zion members distributed more than 1,000 repurposed educational books to the community (e.g., 500 to ESL parents at a parent training held in Southeast Portland at Harrison Park Middle School; 300 books to parents attending a Christmas party at Concordia College; and 50 books to parents/children attending the Matt Dishman Community Block Party. Voices in Praise (a choir that does outreach to the community) partnered with First AME Zion in providing missionary work designed to feed the mind (the word), the body (bags of groceries donated to those who come to each event), and the soul (praise and worship). VIP was hosted by First Church every 3 rd Saturday of each month. The Community Breakfast was hosted the last Saturday before the first Sunday. The word has spread and more and more people in need of food have been coming to the Breakfast. This event also provides an opportunity for members of First Church to come together in an atmosphere where they can get to know one another better. CONNECTED (which includes men from First AME Zion) continues to take to the streets each Friday evening and spend time talking to young men and women who frequent the area need Holladay Park. Crime is down and the police force has acknowledged the positive impact of this effort. The Mayor of Portland has walked with the men. CONNECTED has initiated an outreach in an attempt to get 100 women who will take to the streets like the men have done. Women of First Church signed joined together to provide 18-hour shifts at Ms. Ida s home as she became eligible for hospice and began to make her transition. The family expressed it appreciation for the support that the women and pastor provided.

12 Pastor Probasco encouraged the laity to consider the obligations that would take a great deal of energy and resources and to be prayerful about how we could all work together to implement the: The 150 th Anniversary of First AME Zion Church; The Pastor s Anniversary; The Annual Conference. The youth sponsored an event called Teens for Jeans and successfully collected and redistributed jeans. Under the direction of Breanna Probasco-Canda, the youth implemented this event. The 150 th Anniversary was well attended and supported and for the first time ever, First AME Zion held a Love Fest. Pastor Probasco asked that all members of the church refrain from criticizing one another and show God s love to one another for three days. This event was well received. The banquet for the 150 th Anniversary was well attended and there is general agreement that we all worked together in ways that made the anniversary successful. Governor Kitzhaber declared April 15, 2012 First AME Zion Day of Remembrance. For the first time First Church hosted a Mother s Day Brunch on Saturday. More than 54 women from various churches were hosted. The atmosphere was formal and elegant and the women received books and CDs with inspirational/biblical references about being a mother. Reverends Eddie Jollie Bryant, Wright and Robert Probasco said prayers for mothers, children and fathers. Participants stated that this event was very uplifting and inspiring. May 20 th the Pastor and First Lady s Appreciation was held in the social hall. There was a formal dinner and members presented tributes, poems and gifts. Chef Kelley Probasco and Assistant Brian served salmon, prime rib and New York steak, with all of the trimmings followed by ice cream cake. More than 65 people attended this event has been a challenging year; however, 14 people have accepted Jesus and their personal savior and joined with us in doing God s work. Several people have reactivated their membership with First Church, and there was an increase of clergy this year (who were well received and blended right in to First Church). We are excited to see what God is doing.

13 The passing of several long time members has been bitter sweet. We rejoice because they have gone to be with the Lord; however, we miss their presence. The evangelism workshop conducted at First Church has had a positive impact and this work continues. We are grateful to have Rev. Dudley. First Church has been pleased with our pastor s guidance and sermons that cause us to reflect on our own behavior and focus on growing closer to the Lord. We have been reminded that people see Christ through our actions. Having a pastor who cares and challenges us to be better is a blessing. He is a humble man who demonstrates that he loves and genuinely cares about us. In addition, God has blessed First AME Zion Church with Rev. Eddie Jollie Bryant, Rev. Antoinette Rochell, Reverend Dudley and Local Preacher Maurie Sails. We are very grateful that God continues to bless First AME Zion Church.

Diane Proctor, Missionary Supervisor, The Reverend Robert F. Kemp, Presiding Elder, the Reverend Robert N. Probasco, Host Pastor, Pastors, Ministers, Conference and District Officers, Delegates members and friends of the Oregon-Washington Annual Conference. New Life continues to hold service at the Phoenix Inn every Sunday morning. We are still moving forward under the leadership of Jesus Christ. I thank God for the opportunity to praise and serve the Lord daily. Sunday school from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and morning worship starts at noon. PASTORAL SERVICES Sermons Preached 48 Served communion to 201 people No funerals No weddings 2 Baptism Church Growth Adults 20 Youth 7 Baptized children 4 Total 31 We have added 7 new members; (4 adults & 3 youth) OUR EVANGELISTIC VISIBILTY THE MEMBERS SPIRITUAL SERVICE IN THE COMMUNITY ON SERVICE DAY 1 went to church with their spouse and brought back a special prayer, 2 evangelized to the homeless and started a new ministry that is exploding, 1 visited another AMEZ church, 1 did a morning meditation that they never have time for, 1 slept in, 1 had morning meditation and prayer with her husband, others prayed and fasted for our church, 1 attended a women s day service at another church, and 1 preached at another church (COGIC). We observed the Missionary, Christian Education, Evangelism, and Laity days. The children sing every other Sunday and usher every Sunday. They look forward to apples and oranges provided by Brother Earl Ford every Sunday. Brother Ford has moved to Northern California but the YACM department has decided continue this fellowship. We have Bible Study every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (the Phoenix Inn) We average between 8 to 10 members every week. Annual Conference -2012

16 MY COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES Sunday worship service at the Phoenix Inn every Sunday MC for the National Council of Negro Women Annual Prayer Breakfast President of the Vancouver NAACP #1139 Work in various YWCA programs (Worth and Hate Incidents, Hate Crimes Group) Ambassador for Worship in Pink a Breast cancer awareness program. Last year we had a pink potluck. We had a Service Day where all of the members participated in outreach to the community. One went to church with their spouse and brought back a special prayer, two evangelized to the homeless and started a new ministry that is exploding. They collected enough things from various vendors and health depts. to pass out 600 care packages. One slept in, One visited another AME Zion church, one did a morning meditation that they never have time for throughout the week, one had morning and meditation and prayer with her husband, others prayed and fasted for our church, one attended a women s day service and one preached at a COGIC church. I thank God for the members as they continue to grow in faith and grace. Conclusion New Life has again come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord. It is with a humble heart that I make this report for my labors as Pastor of Community AME Zion Church-the church on the hill that lights Vancouver and we are going somewhere! 18 Page 2 Nothing that has been done as Pastor would ever have succeeded without the arms of the members doing the work of ministry with me. We have adopted Ephesians 3: 20 as our Scriptural foundation. God will do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think according to the power that work in us. We also believe that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty and it is being shown in every aspect of our ministry. Sunday school every Sunday with breakfast prepared twice a month; all age groups are in attendance Each Sunday Two Worship Services 8:00am & 11:00am Bible Studies & 7pm Supported the Women s Abuse Shelter with cell phones and clothing Music Ministry has 3 solid choirs; Angelic Voices of Praise the children s choir, Brothers in Christ Men s Choir & Disciples of Praise Gospel Choir Supported the City Jail with under garments for the Women Started a Resurrection Support Group in line with the vision for our church, this is a 12 step Christ-centered program. Resurrection is a comprehensive program-aimed at high risk youth and adults struggling with addictions to drugs, alcohol, shopping, gambling, immoral behaviors, overeating, excessive spending, anxiety, other people (co-dependence), nicotine, caffeine, prescription drugs and etc. Throw a Lifeline to someone who is sinking. Fellowship with Revival Tabernacle Church monthly and speak throughout the Portland-Metro area within other denominations. Member of the Albina Ministerial Alliance, Mayor s Prayer Breakfast Committee that hosts a yearly citywide Prayer Breakfast in the city of Vancouver, member of the Pan-Methodist which conducts the Seven Last Words of Jesus yearly. Meet monthly with the McLoughlin Heights Pastors Association, and teach a Bible Study twice a Arbor Ridge Assisted Living where we have had 5 conversions and baptisms, we consider this our outreach church. And some have attended Community as well. Attended and participated in the Encounter held in San Jose, California Attended the WHOM Quadrennial in Houston, Texas In closing, my sincere thanks to Bishop and Missionary Supervisor for their confidence in me and their support. I give thanks to the ministerial Community, the Trustee Board, Steward Board and the various boards and lastly a special thanks to the first man Bro. Jack for his assistance in this ministry and to Almighty God who has taught me to be steadfast, unmovable always abounding in the work of the Lord. Knowing my labor is not in vain. 23 120 th Annual Session Oregon-Washington Annual Conference African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church Held at: First AME Zion Church Portland, Oregon July 3 rd - 8 th 2012 PASTORS REPORT To the Right Reverend Dennis V. Proctor, Missionary Supervisor Mrs. D Diane Proctor, Presiding Elder Robert F. Kemp, Pastors, Ministers, Members and Friends of the 120 th Session of The Oregon-Washington Annual Conference. I, Robert N. Probasco submit the following report of the labors for the conference year ending May 31 st This year has brought its test and trials and for this I thank God for all of it. I have been brought through it all stronger and better. The membership has added some new faces in every age bracket. The membership has begun to tell the story to their co-workers friends and neighbors. It truly is a testimony of what God will do. This year we have added 14 new members that have officially joined and several others that have been in faithful attendance that call this their church. We have gone outside the doors and sought to serve our past members that have been away from First Church for more than a decade with great success. We have through their request brought them back to membership. In outreach to our community we have continued to minister through Connected. Connected is a group purposed to be visible to the gang affected youth as well as those who travel through various troubled areas in the Portland area. Volunteers from First Church and several other churches in the area patrol transit areas in key areas throughout the city. The founder of this well recognized group is Exhorter John Canda. In addition to this fine ministry we also house Voices in Praise singing group that every month has praise and worship ministry serving anywhere from people with prayer worship song and food to feed their families with food boxes or bags to take home no charge as well as gasoline cards to help them get to or find work. We continue to serve the now much looked forward to Men's Prayer Breakfast the last Saturday before each first Sunday. These great activities bring many visitors that get a chance to hear a word. Sunday School and Bible Study continues to fill the need for many of our 50 and over group. As recently as two Sundays ago we found a home of a past member that was willing to be part of our outreach to our young married couples and singles. I truly thank God for him leading us in that direction and opening that door. Our pastor steward will work with me as we set this in motion.

24 120 th Annual Session Oregon-Washington Annual Conference African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church The laity has done great things as they showed their support for the 150 th anniversary of First Church. Truly we had a glorious celebration where God was glorified in song and inspirational words from our guest speaker Rev. Matt Henesey. The guest list included Governor's representative Mayor s office representation newspaper coverage flyers etc. The delegates report may bring more detail. The laity has also maintained a high level of lay membership I look to see membership at around 100 lay card holders. The missionary department in combined efforts has met its obligation and we do appreciate our parent body for putting forth such tireless service. Sickness and the process of just getting a little older has slowed the missionaries in the parent body. They just continue to show their love of God in their service. The ministerial staff has been finding effective ways to assist me in service. Rev. Rochell has been of great service to the body now engaged with acolytes and finding her way to being a fantastic part of the team. Rev. Dudley is working on systems that aid with reporting. Rev. Dudley can and does preach like he is on fire. He is a fine and prepared tabulator of the gospel. Rev. Bryant is ready and able to be of service with her home church and is of frequent service to our sister churches. Local preacher Maury Sails has a word for our outreach and is a great help in visitations traveling with me during times of visitation to the sick and shut in. The staff of exhorter's cannot be surpassed Bro. John Canda brings his faith to the community we serve and is a well know figure of television and knowledgeable when it comes to issues of youth and violence in our city. Pam Etheridge can and has shown her skill to bring a message that does some good she is moving on up. Breanna Probasco Canda is a joy to any that have heard her speak young or old spiritual understanding beyond her years. It is a pleasure to work with these fine people. These are the ones God placed in my path and I say thank you Lord. I'm trusting God that we can host a Annual Conference that is worthy of the stellar leadership we have in our Bishop and Missionary Supervisor. In a time that finds us with many of our warriors struggling, Rev. Z. James Purifoy a man you could count on now sidelined with numerous health issues Sister Mary Coleman, Geneva Bedford, Robert Bedford, Sister Sally Purifoy, Sister Corine Scarbrough and so many others that left their youth here yet they still ask to be called if there is anything they can do. Dr. L.J. Thompson, Rev. Nellie B. Thompson, Odell Thompson. The young adults are in attendance and engaged. We currently have a new crop of buds the latest two just made it into the May 31 deadline. With this addition we have 16 buds and this is hard to believe. With all the invitations to graduations I received this year of the last group of buds three more graduate from high school, two more from college. One more adult from college. I have learned to sit quietly and hear the still small voice of the Lord. He allowed me to open myself up to self examination as He spoke to me through His Holy Word. I have learned much about me. Most of all, I learned that our God is gracious, slow to anger and full of great compassion. I learned simply because of who He is with me, as His child, I must be the same to others. When I stopped running for my life He spoke to me in His still small voice and said that He has assignments for me elsewhere. So it is with great sadness and even greater excitement that I am looking forward to working in God s ministry in another conference. The Lord has opened a wonderful door of opportunity to move to the Texas Annual Conference. There is much work to do in the churches of the Texas Conference so I am eager, willing, available and so excited to be working with the

31 people of God to build up the Kingdom of God where I am needed. To God be the glory for great things He has done in my life. I am grateful to Bishop Dennis V. My primary concern as Conference Director of Evangelism and a Conference Evangelist has been serving God in the area of Internet Ministry. My aim is to reach souls for Christ, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ online and support others who share the Gospel online. I continue to assist where I can to the Presiding Elder, pastors and other members of the conference in various capacities where I am able to. I supported Pastor Meadows and Presiding Elder Robert F. Kemp when asked or needed. I went through several months of spiritual marriage counseling with my nephew CJ and (now niece) Michelle. I married them on August 20, This year I began by assisting in establishing a web site for the Ebenezer. Managed the domains for Ebenezer. Advised on web design and content. I have established a group for promoting Ebenezer and its evangelistic efforts on Facebook and MySpace social communities. I joined Plaxo social community as well and looked at other social communities and useful resources on the Internet as well. For traditional advertising I have been seeking online places with events calendars to promote events at Ebenezer. Most were not successful because the sites I found are not well prepared. Worked on New Converts Ministry at Ebenezer. I developed What just happen process to help people explain to a new converts what they just experienced. Led 2 people to the Lord at Ebenezer. Developed a post card to help after leading someone to the Lord as well as a script that can be memorized to accompany the post card. Revised Ebenezer s church brochure and created a flyer for Children s Church. I have tried to assist Pastor Meadows in whatever way I can. On September 15, 2011 just prior to the scheduled Quarterly Conference at Ebenezer I called and informed Pastor Meadows over the phone that I was immediately transferring / withdrawing my membership. On September 26, 2011 I officially joined First AME Zion Church in Portland, Oregon. I built a web site for First Church and try to support Pastor Probasco whenever possible regardless of the distance it is to travel to church.

33 Oregon-Washington Annual Conference Conference Evangelist Report Rev. William H. Dudley I was asked to serve on the Western Episcopal District s Encounter Team. My area of participation was with marketing I created several video ads for the event. I was appointed to the CED Mid-Winter Meeting as the Western Region Leader for Communications assisting when asked. I was invited by Dr. Otis McMillan to join the Evangelism Congress Committee serving in the marketing with Dr. McMillan. I created three video ads and three periodicals. I arrived a day early prior to the congress and helped with setting up for the congress as well. I serve as webmaster for First Church, Cascade District, Western Episcopal District and the Bureau of Evangelism, A. M. E. Zion Church. I assisted the YACM Steering Committee in using video conference. I am training the Western Episcopal CED on using video conferencing. We have had 5 video conferences. I was appointed to the CED Mid-Winter Meeting as the Western Region Leader for Communications. Locally, I am a member of the Carson Library Committee at Ebenezer AME Zion Church. I served as secretary for the Annual and District Conference s and Chair of the Publicity Committee. Assisted or visited the sick four times this quarter. I have visited our churches three times, while visiting Ebenezer multiple times this year plus attended Ebenezer Revival/Church Anniversary. I visited New Life AME Zion Church in College Park, GA, (near Atlanta) and Varick Chapel AME Zion in Asheville NC. Quadrennial Theme: Maximizing our Purpose: Continuing our Journey Maximizing our Purpose Continuing our Journey has been emphasized through devotion, worship, and study sessions from the missionary study book. We have five societies in the conference and most of them are organized and actively working in missionary outreach. Our membership consist of 125 Adults, 25 Youth, 51 Buds, and 52 Life members, and 12 Supply. All missionary societies from Parent Body to Buds have celebrated some founders days. Sister Wilhelmena Stone: District President of the Parent Body The Parent Body Missionaries continue to try to meet the needs of families that are economically challenged, some are without housing, jobs, food, and clothing. Some are looking for spiritual guidance and a listening ears and above all Prayer. Sister Dana Jackson: District Coordinator of Yams

37 The Yams are working in their churches. Founders Day was celebrated. Sister Pamela Etheridge: District Secretary of Youth The Youth have regular meetings and bible study at their individual churches. They have become more involved in Sunday morning worship at some of our churches and they carry on the whole service on 5 th Sunday. We have youth that will be graduating from high school this year and starting a new chapter in their lives. Special days were observed. Sister Loretta Jack: District Superintendent of Buds of Promise The Buds meet twice a month for choir rehearsal and bible study. They sing once a month and participate in the Sunday morning service. They also serve as Acolytes. They celebrated Marie L. Clinton Day with a program. Sister Lorine: District Secretary of Supply Personal garments were given out to the inmates that were incarcerated. Food boxes were given out for special holidays and through out the year. All special days were celebrated. Sister Cassandra Engrum: Chairman of Life Members Sister Engrum has been working recruiting new members to purchase red and purple stoles to support our colleges. 40 Restoring the Mission Retooling the Leadership Rebuilding our Community Saturday July 7 th, 2012 To Bishop Dennis V. Proctor, Mrs. D. Diane Proctor, Presiding Elder Robert F. Kemp, Pastor Joyce M. Smith, Rev. Robert Probasco Chairman of the Board. District & Conference Officers, Members and Friends of the 120th Session of the Oregon & Washington Conference. The Christian Education Department has had a wonderful year. Our Theme has been Restoring the Community. It s even better to articulate that our Directors are busy not only in Christian Education but also in their local Churches. This report will serve as report to the accomplishments that the Directors have been doing. The District Director wrote for 2012: The Directors are trying very hard to build up the body of Christ as we encourage our members to take an active part in this commitment. The Churches are: First AME Zion Church, Ebenezer AME Zion Church, Pauline AME Zion Church, Community AME Zion Church and New Life AME Zion Church are all doing very well. They continue to be active and involved in the following: Church School, Bible Study, Prayer Meetings, Praise and Worship, Children Choir, Children Church, and Liturgical dance, children serving as acolytes, celebrating Easter and Black History. The Churches in the Conference observe annual events in the AMEZ Church as well as other annual events.

41 As Christian Education Director of the district I am continuing to be helpful wherever I m needed and I would greatly appreciate the District Director, Members and the Churches to know that I am always available to support wherever needed. I am always available to assist wherever I can be of service. The Yacm Director wrote: This conference year has been a very busy year! I was given the task of heading PR Committe for the Connectional Young Adult Steering Committee. Under my leadership A twitter account has been created, you can follow on the YACM Blog has be rolled out - and the blog has been receiving rave reviews connection wide! We celebrated YACM Observance day which was honored in March. The Steering committee is trying very hard to unify and strengthen the YACM body which means getting connected on a local church level. We have been reaching out through Facebook, Twitter, The YACM Blog, s, etc and since I have taken over PR, me and my PR teacher has done a good job of that. Please stay tuned to the new and innovative things the PR team will be doing at the Lay Convocation and at the General Meeting. I I also did a presentation at the Spring Convocation on the State of the African American Family, where I discussed the percentage of black children being reared by single parents. As of today 72% of African American children are being raised by single mothers. There were a few Young Adults present. I continue to send information on a connectional level to the Oregon-Washington Young adults. We have not had any more conference calls or meetings. It has been extremely difficult due to our hectic schedules and our children schedules, but I keep trying.

42 I am also helping on preparing the youth at my local church for the Mid Winter meeting in Atlanta, GA. I have been meeting with them and helping them fundraise and strategize so that they can experience the awesomeness at Winter Meeting. The Youth Director wrote: This Conference Year has been a great learning experience for me. We started a little rough with waning interest and lack of support, but God has sense turned things around for us. Though I am losing some of my biggest cheerleaders to college Kymbreanna Elliot, Shika Kalevor and Adrianna Banta I am encouraged by the ones who remain and continue to work diligently to learn about God and their purpose. I have not gotten far on planning an end of the year celebration, but would still like to get all of the youth together to recognize their hard work this year and begin planning for next year. It is my intention that all who want to go the Mid-Winter Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia will be able to do with little financial burden. But, before that, I would like them to be prepared to participate. It is very important to me the Youth learn Robert s Rules of Order and other important information about our church, so they feel more confident to participate in local, conference, regional and national forums. The Children s Director wrote: The children at CAMEZ have been busy in all activities of the church. They continue to sing, sign, and dance during 2nd and 4th Sunday services. They celebrated Marie L. Clinton day and are have a wonderful time in children s church as well as Sunday school. They enjoy outings as their incentive reward for a job well done as far as participation, attitude, and willingness to serve.

43 The children at Pauline are active in children s church and some are enjoying Sunday school. The choir is in the process of reforming and things are looking up. The children are in participation throughout the church's activities. The children at Ebenezer are busy in children's church, youth Sunday morning where they participate in the morning service. They had a food drive to replenish the food bank barrels since Thanksgiving. I ve observed children from First church participate with the choir when they travel to other services and to the different meetings held throughout the conference. I know the children are continuing to enjoy children's church and they help with praise and worship at the morning services on youth Sunday's. Conference Director writes: To God be the glory for the great things he has done! In the midst of all of the ups and downs, more up s than downs We, the CED Directors have had a productive year in so many areas. Area s that were dormant are now alive, and we believe God for Great Things for the coming year. We ve seen a new enthusiasm with some, and we applaud our Youth as they continue to strive toward unity. We expect great things from each director in this Conference Year. We ask the local Churches to organize on a local level, and will work toward that this year in addition to doing more presentations on the importance of family, health awareness, finances, education etc. CED has taken on a new meaning, and it s ok to MAXIMIZE our MINISTRY. Dudley Attended National Council of Negro Women Participated and participating in Worship in Pink (Breast Cancer Awareness) Celebrated Latino Sunday for our Mexican/Spanish members Bible Study on Wednesdays On May 12, 2012 recruited 7 people to hand out over 600 hygiene items to the homeless in Portland, Oregon. We received donations from 21 vendors in the local area. Some of which included Washington County Health Department, Dentist offices, and many hotels. It was a complete success and we plan to go out again on May 16, 2012 with a group of 16. The word has spread and now we are looking to connect to Salem, Eugene, and Springfield areas. We currently have 400 hygiene packages ready for our next outreach in Portland. With much response from people willing to help; later this month I will be travelling to Salem to discuss furthering this ministry in the other areas with locals from their towns, as well as addressing concerns and needs amongst the homeless. Community Church The Local Director is Brother Alton Carter. This is the first year Brother Carter has served in this position. Number of Active Members: 5 Number of meetings held: 1 This board reports: 7 Conversions 12 Joined the church Evangelistic activities: Visit the sick in nursing homes Passed out Pastor s cards at the Church Picnic Revival Planning a picnic in a neighborhood park to reach children and parents in the area and forming plans for other activities throughout the year This board held their Annual Fall Revival & Harvest Crusade on October 21-23, 2011 the evangelist was The Rev. Dr. Stephen Pogue, Pastor of Greater Cooper A. M. E. Zion Church in Oakland, California. The theme was It s Time to Come Back Home. The thematic scripture was Luke 15: Following are the counts for the invitation. On Friday night 39 persons came to the altar in answer to the invitation, of them one person joined Community and at least seven persons either made a commitment or a recommitment to Jesus Christ. Saturday night 31 persons answered the altar call, of them one person joined Community, two person accepted Jesus Christ into their lives and two persons recommitted themselves to Jesus Christ. The Sunday morning 8 AM Worship Service about 8 persons answered the invitation. 2

Donated some food to the Postal Workers food drive. Pauline Memorial Church The Local Director is Rev. Rosemary Morgan-Harris. This is Rev. Harris first year at Pauline Memorial but has served in this capacity for several years at Community Church. Ebenezer Church The Local Director is David H. Dudley. Brother Dudley has been served in this position for the past 9 or 10 years. Dudley Helped coordinate the program sharing our gifts following vacation bible school Working with the Union Gospel Mission with the homeless and latchkey youth Partnerships with Black Child Development Institute and the Renton church Coalition Will be starting a music outreach at local nursing homes and senior citizens soon They are looking forward to their winter revival Saturday Outreach Program: o With their community partners they prepared and served hot meal at the Lazarus Center serving over 595 people. Prepared and served over 2,265 sack lunches. Feeding over 2,860 people. They report giving away over 437 pairs of socks, over 688 pieces of clothing (shirts, pants, blouses), over 4,944 toiletry items, over 86 pairs of shoes, over 98 hats and over 158 pairs of gloves. Total items handed out just for two quarters was 6,411. The team handed out 107 bibles and prayed with 132 people as well during those two quarters. o Partnered with Best Buy of Bellevue, WA. The team continues to broaden the partners and have made a presentation then received a grant $2,500 from Columbia Bank this could possibly be a yearly donation for the program. Received support from Wells Fargo Bank. o We also had young people from Central Washington University helping out and donating items to the outreach. o We had young people from Celebration four square that were part of the World Vision 24 hour famine drop by and helped as well. o On May 6 a benefit recital was held for the feeding program. The site was Westside Presbyterian in Seattle, and featured sacred opera selections by Mr. Michael Dudley. Over five hundred dollars was raised. o They held a revival in conjunction with the 82nd birthday of Ebenezer. Held on April 26 28, The theme was -"It's Break Through Time". Each night will be a different revivalist. First night was Men s Night the speaker was Rev. Robert N. Probasco, Sr. Pastor of First AME Zion Church Portland, OR. Friday night was Women s night the speaker was Sister Loretta Jack member of Ebenezer AME Zion Church Seattle, WA. The last night was Youth night all music that night. They are also preparing to weekly go sing at nursing in the community starting in about two weeks. Dudley This board reports: 3 Recommitted to Christ 1 Joined the church Evangelistic activities: The board of evangelism has been active and moving out into new territory. Taking it to the street. We have partnered with Connected and this this a time of witness. We as a church travel through the Mall at Lloyd Center and the a joining park setting sharing the word at every opportunity. This area has been a high crime area and trouble spot for our city and the presence of the faith community is received in friendly as well as hostile environment. God has been on display in the actions of this group. In addition we support the opportunity to be partners with our fellow tribulators through sharing space and rooms with homeless. Feeding the hungry while sharing in worship we have become deliberate to make the love of God a reality to all. We have supported our Pastor in evangelizing to the families of previous members that have dropped out. We are looking for our friends from days gone by visiting and listening on the friend to friend basis. We are planting and we truly are looking for a harvest. Results are seen communication lines are being re-opened. Evangelistic Calendar 1. 1 st District Convocation was held October 22, Decision Day Observance 2011 was October 23, The directors had an opportunity to share. 3. Thompson, pastors, delegates, members and friends of the conference. Greeting in the name of Jesus, I am happy to bring this report of the conference s evangelistic activities. Report Summary Overall this was another great event it was filled with exciting speakers and preachers. Dr. John Evans was inventive in his style of sharing bible study with us. His overall topic was prayer and reminding us how important prayer is for the Christian. He has a great witness and excitement about evangelism. Leading the main plenary sessions were Rev. Brian Thompson who was powerful as always, Dr. W. Darin Moore what can we say, he once again came with important and significant information inspiring all present. Dr. Otis McMillan, if Zion would receive evangelism as an important ministry not to be set aside this servant of God could, through Jesus Christ help to make each of us stronger and wiser for the work of the ministry. Rev. Eric Leake is another inspiring preacher who has something to tell worth listening to. They were upbeat with much to say. Each night the preaching was moving, high church. Bishop Walker certainly kicked off the hole congress with his message. Even in the breakout session the handpicked presenters all did a good job. Food was good and well prepared the Dorothy Walls site is well kept up and a beautiful place that we all should be very proud of. Oregon-Washington Connection and Work The Bureau of Evangelism office is greatly appreciative of the support the Oregon-Washington Annual Conference has given it over the years. In the years Rev. Nellie and Odell Thompson were Conference and District Directors they put our conference in the light of Zion through Board of Evangelism Page 1

Hicklin to the west coast for several crusades in our conference. For a number of years Community AME Zion Church brought the then General Director of Evangelism, Dr. Darryl B. Starnes to their fall revivals, Dr. Starnes has now been elevated to the office of bishop and should properly be referred to as Bishop Darryl B. Starnes. OR-WA Conference supported the Bureau of Evangelism web site financially its first few years. I have been the web sites webmaster for 7 years now. I also manage the AMEZion Prayers Warriors page on Facebook with 616 likes (supporters). I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. McMillan on the marketing team leading up to the congress. We collaborated to develop several video ads and I communicated via Facebook, and the web site to get the ads out. I came up with the idea of doing an e-newsletter. We call it Evangelism Periodical the newsletter has a few promotions of what s going on with currently at the Bureau the main idea to bring some of the directors writing to the electronic age for our youth and young adults particularly. I drive up to Dorothy Walls a day early to help setup the day before the Evangelism Congress began. Detailed Report of the 2012 Congress Format of the 2012 Evangelism Congress was very similar as the other two activities put on by the Bureau of Evangelism this quadrennial. Many of the speakers, presenters and teachers were returning once again to share as well as the themes used for the workshop were very similar to the past events. This year the Congress was held at the A.M.E Zion s Dorothy Walls Conference and Retreat Center in Black Mountain, North Carolina. If you have never visited the site I invite you to do so in the future. It is a beautiful campus with a 54 room hotel, extremely large gymnasium with a kitchen and a good sized chapel. The grounds are very large and well maintained by the Blue Ridge District. There is a lake where you might want to go fishing and beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. I took a number of pictures which are posted the AMEZion Prayer Warriors Facebook page; you are welcome to check those out. Morning Bible Study Each morning began with intercessory prayer, breakfast then bible study. Intercessory prayer was the only session I did not participate in. Bible Study was led by Rev. Dr. John C. Evans, Jr. Our morning bible study session was titled, The Essentials of Prayer. Each day had a particular focus. Wednesday s focus was The Law of Prayer Divine Order. Scripture was Leviticus 9: 1-6 & Thursday s focus was Grace of Prayer Divine Favor. Scripture was Matthew 6: Friday s focus was The Truth of Prayer Divine Work. Dr. Evans is pastor of Cathedral A. M. E. Zion in Jackson, Mississippi. In his outline we can find his presentation was scripture based Wednesday Leviticus 9:1-7, Acts 6:4 and Leviticus 22:3. Thursday scripture used was Matthew 6:5-16. Discussion was around trust, faith and promises. Friday scripture was John 14:10, John 14: and Matthew 5:16; 21:13. We have Thursday and Friday taped and should find some time where we watch these video and revisit the importance of praying. Breakout Sessions We had 5 different breakout sessions going on at the same time Wednesday and Thursday. The workshops and presenters were as follows (1) Bishop James McCoy led Personal Renewal. (2) President Yvonne Tracey leading Welcoming People In, Helping People grow, Sending Out. (3) Dr. Gloria Williams leading Missionaries Impacting their Church and their World for Christ. (4) Dr. Mary Love leading Pedagogy: Sharing The Message So Lost People Get It!. Finally, (5) Bishop Darryl B. Starnes leading 21st Century Christians Under Construction. We each were able to select two workshops. I chose Personal Renewal with Bishop McCoy s and 21 st Century Christians Under Construction with Bishop Starnes s. Personal Renewal: Bishop McCoy is the Presiding Prelate of the Alabama Florida Episcopal District. Bishop McCoy led an interesting discussion sharing with us some of his testimony and witness about his own person renewal journey. Opening up he asked the question, Who Are We? The answer in Jeremiah 1: 4-9 and secondly, as in 1 Peter, a chosen race, a royal priesthood and a Holy nation. Here is the outline of Bishop s workshop to give you a better idea of the direction this discuss went: I. Happiness Regarding the Saints below who are sorrowing here. Are you happy that you received the call? II. Securing the Surety III. Is your Passion about your ($$) Package? IV. Hindrances to Spiritual Renewal V. Maintain Faith, Confidence and Trust in the One who called you, out of the darkness into the Marvelous Light. Bishop McCoy led a healthy discussion about personal renewal. This topic an important subject which it would benefit our conference particularly the ministers to take a serious discussion and response to. 21st Century Christians Under Construction: Bishop Starnes is the Presiding Prelate of the South Western Delta Episcopal District and led the Bureau of Evangelism for 12 years Board of Evangelism Page 3

This workshop was based on his new book: "21st Century Christians Under Construction" and is described as a book that deals with effective discipleship models and practical evangelism strategies. Proper discipleship helps becomes the Right People, discover the Right Message, and create the Right Environment for others to become Disciples of Christ. This topic as well is an important subject which it would benefit our conference to take a serious discussion and response to. Plenary Sessions We had four different plenary sessions (1) Rev. Dr. Eric Leake presented Revitalizing through the Five Ships: Discipleship, Worship, Stewardship, Fellowship, and Leadership. (2) Rev. Brian R. Thompson presented Moving From Church Mentality to Kingdom Mentality (3) Rev. Dr. W. Darin Moore presented From Maintenance only to Maintenance and Ministry (4) Rev. Otis McMillan taught on Helping People Become Spiritual Rescuers. Revitalizing through the Five Ships: Discipleship, Worship, Stewardship, Fellowship, and Leadership. Dr. Leake is the pastor of Martin Temple AME Zion in Chicago, Illinois. He opened with this statement The North American Church is shrinking. We must stop breeding unhealthy churches. His outline was as follows: 1 st Session I. Shaping through Discipleship using Matthew 4:17-20; 28:19-20 II. II. Submitting through Worship using Psalm 95:6 III. Strengthening through Fellowship using Hebrews 10: nd Session IV. Sharing through Stewardship using Malachi 3: 7-12; Matthew 25: 14-30; I Corinthians 6: 19-20, 12: 4-14, 29-31; Romans 12: 5-8; Ephesians 4: V. Serving through Leadership Moving From Church Mentality to Kingdom Mentality. Rev. Thompson is the pastor of Simon Temple AME Zion Church, Fayetteville, North Carolina. He is also the Presiding Elder of the St. Croix District of the US Virgin Islands Conference. As always Rev. Thompson provides lots of materials. He opened with the statement If you want your church to grow, you have to have a kingdom mentality. If it s on the pastor it (kingdom mentality) will come on the members. Mission using John 6: 5-13 III. Discipleship using Acts 2: Dr. Moore talked about Indicates of a troubled church. He asks the question Why is it difficult for our church to be sporadic about evangelism? He then offers seven failures indicating a troubled church. 1. Failure to take scripture seriously. 2. Failure to take preaching seriously. 3. Failure to take sin seriously. 4. Failure to take church seriously. 5. Failure to take Godly leadership seriously. 6. Failure to take spiritual gifts seriously. Finally he asked us to write down our own strengths and weakness Helping People Become Spiritual Rescuers Dr. McMillan is the current General Director of the Bureau of Evangelism of the A. M. E. Zion Church. Dr. McMillan makes a very strong case for conversational evangelism for help those that do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Here is his outline. 1. Helping God s people become spiritual rescuers. 2. Understanding the rescue mission 3. Who can best rescue others? 4. What s the problem? 5. What s the greatest need? 6. Six ways to help transform everyday believers into spiritual rescuers 7. Six ways to help them 8. Ye are the salt of the earth 9. Two powerful questions: Can I pray for you? Will you pray from me? 10. We must understand who does the persuading? Board of Evangelism Page 5

Evening Services Tuesday night - Challenge Worship Service: The evangelist was Bishop George W. C. Walker, Sr. Presiding Prelate of the Piedmont Episcopal District. His scripture came from Exodus 3: 1-6 and theme was "You're Standing on Holy Ground". Prior to Bishop preaching we had a special testimony from Rev. Dr. A. A. Parson, Sr. He talked about A Place Called Wait The Place of a Change of Heart Dr. Parson talked about his ordeal of going through congestive heart failure. Afterwards Bishop Walker preached a stirring message you may watch it in its entirety on the Bureau s web site. Twenty-three persons came on the invitation to pray to God in response to the message. Wednesday Night - Empowering Evangelistic Worship Service: Our evangelist was Rev. Dr. H. Eddie Fox. He is the Director of World Methodist Evangelism. Scripture reading was 1 Peter 1:3 5. Text was "A Living Hope". The altar was completely filled with persons wanting to draw closer to their living hope, Jesus Christ. Another stirring message that can be watched on the Bureau s web site in its entirety. Thursday Night - Empowering Evangelistic Worship Service: The evangelist was Bishop Darryl B. Starnes, Sr. Presiding Prelate of the South Western Delta Episcopal District. Scripture reading came from Matthew 20: The theme was "God's Passion for the Lost". One person came for reassurance of salvation. Then the altar was at overflow again with those wanting God to increase their passion for the lost. I was unable to capture the complete message but is going to be posted on the Bureau s web site what was captured. Diane Proctor, Presiding Elder Robert F. Kemp, Host Pastor, Rev. Robert N. Probasco, Pastors, District Officers, Delegates, Visitors & Friends Greetings in the Name of Jesus the Christ! In John 13:16 the scripture says Verily I say unto you,the servant is not greater than his Lord neither He that is sent greater than He who sent Him. As a servant-leader we must be deeply committed to reverence for God. A servant-leader has respect for others, as others are willing to receive and follow such leadership. Working with people, weather at church, our neighborhood, or home it requires that we listen purposefully to each other and to God. If we forget to stop striving to see the Great Day we will miss the mark. There will be troubles, obstacles and we will have to endure. The Men of Zion are working in their individual churches and trying to strive toward the mark of a higher calling in Christ Jesus.

61 Page 2 This year we have had a lot of busy activities within the church and out of the church but I see the Men holding on. To date as best as we can account for, there are approximately 95 to 100 Men of Zion in our Conference. All dues are not current, we are working on them. { See Treasure s Report} Plans are in process for September 14, 15,16,2012 for a 3 Day Men s Gathering sponsored by the Brothers in Christ. The Spring Hill Marriott in Vancouver, Washington has been secured for this event and letters will be forth coming for all the Men of the Oregon & Washington Conference. My prayer is that you continue to pray for the Men and myself for us to work harder at studying God s Word, and Doing God s Will striving for excellence. My prayers and trust is that as Men we will continue to lift up God, serve in our churches, homes, communities and one another. 62 120 th Session of the Oregon-Washington Annual Conference Held at First A.M.E. Zion Church Portland, Oregon July 3-8, 2012 CONFERENCE HISTORIAN REPORT To the Right Reverend Dennis V. Proctor, Presiding Prelate, Mrs. D. Diane Proctor, Missionary Supervisor, The Reverend Robert F. Kemp, Presiding Elder, the Reverend Robert N. Probasco, Host Pastor, Pastors, Ministers, Delegates, Annual Conference Officers, members and friends of the 120 th session of the Oregon-Washington Annual Conference; I, Geraldine (Gerri) Hart, submit the following report as the Conference Historian: April 13-15, 2012, First A.M.E. Zion Church celebrated the 150 th year since it was organized in the home of Mrs. Mary Carr in It was called The People s Church, and who was to know that many years later, another church would be named The People s Church pastured by the Reverend Robert N. Probasco, Sr., the present pastor of First Church. This being the 120 th annual session of the Oregon-Washington Conference aroused the curiosity of this reporter as to why it was not the 150 th session of the annual conference! An explanation was found in Bishop William Walls book, The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church: Reality of the Black Church. Although established as an A.M.E. Zion Church, in 1862 during the days of Bishop Joseph Jackson Clinton and John James Moore 1, it seems that in 1888, when Bishop Charles Calvin Petty was the Bishop, Oregon was part of the California Conference (which included the Portland church). This territory covered all of California, Arizona, Oregon and Washington. In 1892 he attempted to organize the Oregon conference but did not succeed. The bishops who followed him, Bishops Alexander Walters and George Wyle Clinton, did not try to hold separate conferences for the churches in the territory because of the great distance between them. The Far West as it was known, was considered a mission field and was part the East and Midwest conferences. On October 23, 1910, Bishop Josiah Samuel Caldwell organized the Oregon Conference as a separate conference from the California conference. Reverend William Walter Matthews, a pastor at the time was in Portland and was helping establish churches and extend the border of the Oregon conference and in 1916 the conference became known as the Oregon-Washington Conference. This somewhat explains the difference in the number of years counted as the Oregon-Washington Annual Conferences and the number of years First Church has been in existence. The numbers did not come out exactly right for this reporter, but they re close enough to establish the fact that First Church is officially the first and oldest established A.M.E.
