(created 1753 from Albemarle and Lunenburg Cas.). AMELIA County, created 1734 from Brunswick Co. and Prince George Co. It was a parent county for Prince Edward County (created 1752), Nottoway Co. St. Paul's Parish Register March 28, 1798, DAVID WHITLOCK, of S1. Paul's Parish, wrote his will which was probated September 19, During his lifetime he had purchased of one John Garland lands in Halifax County on Hyco River, which he subsequently sold to Dabney Miller. This land was later devised by Mrs. MARTHA WHITLOCK to her two surviving children. A law suit resulted, instituted in the Superior Court of Law and Chancery in Richmond in which the Court decreed that the tract of land be divided into four lots "first choice to be cast between Francis Timberlake, Sr. (now dec'd) and MARTHA WHITLOCK and John Allen Richardson, Executrix and Executor." DAVID WHITLOCK also possessed land in Hanover, Randolph County (now West Virginia) and Kentucky.
