4 I I Transcription of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Deed Book 8:14-16 Robert Harris, Jr. and Martha his wife to Andrew Miller 26 March January Term, 1773 [Punctuation added for clarity] This indenture made the twenty-sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy-two between Robert Harris Jnr and Martha his wife of the one part and Andrew Miller late of Cumberland County in the province of Pennsylvania of the other part: Witnesseth that for and [in] consideration of the sum of two hundred and twenty pounds Proclamation money to the said Robert Harris Jnr and Martha his wife in hand paid by the said Andrew Miller at and before the sealing and delivery of these premises the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enscoffed, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, enscoff, convey and confirm unto the said Andrew Miller his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county and province aforesaid on the waters of Reedy Creek joyning of Governor Dobb's line beginning at a white oak on the said line proceeding hence N 54 poles to a white 0 thence N 34 W 38 po to a B. 0. thence N 35 W 90 po to a hickory thence S 0 67 W 132 po to a black 0 Joseph Harrises comer thence S 0 24 W 82 po to a W 0 in his line thence S 37 E 150 po to a stake thence to the beginning containing two hundred and twenty-five acres be the same more or less in as full and amplified more or less the same was granted and conveyed to him the said Robert Harris Jnr by deed of bargain and sale and under the hand and seal of Wiliam Irwin bearing date the [?] of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy-one other deed of bargain and seal from George Augustus Schuyn? bearing date the eight day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand and sixty-seven reference thereunto being had in fully and at large appear and also[?] one other tract of land lying and being in the said county joyning and between his own lines David Flough's and and [sic] the late Geo[?] Dobb's Tract No. two beginning at a white oak on said Dobb's line comer to his own land thence own line N 34 W[?] 31 poles to a black 0. sapline another of his comers thence N 35 W[?] 90 poles to a hickory another of his comers thence S 0 67 W 60 poles[?] to a white oak sapline thence N 25 E 80 poles to a post oak in David Flongh's line thence with the same E 80 poles to a post oak in said Dobbs line thence with the same to the beginning - Containing forty seven acres be the same more or less in as full and ample manner as the said forty seven acres was granted to him the said Robert Harris Jnr by patent under the hand of Wiliam Tryon Esqr 1
5 I I Gov [1.] and Seal - of the province of North Carolina reference to the said pat~nt bearing date the eleventh day of Decbr one thousand seven hundred and seventy will fully and at large appear with the appurtenances situate lying and being as aforesaid with their and every of their rights members and appurtenances whatsoever and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders of all and singular the lands tenements hereditaments and premises hereby granted or intended to be to be [sic] granted and of every part and parcel thereof and all rights, issues L? _J and profits to them or any of them or any part or parcel of them or any of them incident, belonging or appertaining - - And also all and every the estate and estates, rights, titles, claims interests and demands whatsoever of them the said Robert Harris Jnr and Martha his wife into or out of the said land, tenements, hereditaments and premises whatsoever hereby granted and mentioned to be granted or any of them or any part or parcel thereof - To have and to hold the said lands, tenements, hereditaments and premises hereby granted with their appurtenances to the said Andrew Miller his assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said Andrew Miller his heirs and assigns forever and the said Robert Harris Jnr and Martha his wife for themselves, their executors and administrators doth hereby promise, covenant and agree that they the said Robert Harris Jnr and Martha his wife, their heirs, executors and administrators shall and will at all times warrant and forever defend the said premises to the said Andrew Miller his heirs and assigns against all lawfull claims or demands whatsoever whereby the above mentioned premises might or may be affected or incumbered contrary to the true intent and meaning of these presents- In witness whereof the said Robert Harris Jnr and Martha his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year herein first above written Signed, sealed and delivered Robert Harris Jnr (Seal) In presence of -- Martha Harris (Seal) Wiliam Miller Robert Robinson Robt Harris Senr Mechlenburg County, Jany Term 1773 Then the within deed was proved in open court by the oath of Robt Harris Esqr and on motion ordered to be registered Testes Samuel Martin C.
