MARY CRESSEY (B. 1738) JOSEPH 6 WINTER (B. 1768) M. BETSY CARVER (C ) BETSY 7 WINTER ( ) M. (1820) WEST ROBINSON (C ) John 1 Winter (c ) JOHN 1 WINTER was born in England, probably about He was in Watertown, Mass. by 1636, a tanner and a proprietor of the town. 2 John Winter made his will on 4 Mar 1661/62. He mentions his sons Richard and Thomas, late of London; his daughter, Alice Lachman, of London; and his son John of Watertown. 3 John Winter died on 14 Apr 1662 in Watertown, aged His inventory, taken on 13 May 1662, totaled 104.4s.6d. 5 His will was proved on 16 Jun We know nothing of John Winter s wife or wives. It is likely that the three children who were in England in 1662 were by a first wife and that John 2 Winter, probably born shortly before John 1 Winter came to America, was by a second wife. John 1 Winter s will mentions no wife. John Winter was the father of the following children by an unknown wife or wives: i. Richard Winter, living in England in ii. Thomas Winter, living in England in iii. Alice Winter, married Lachman, living in London in iv. JOHN 2 WINTER, 10 born about 1634, 11 probably in England John 2 Winter (c1634-c1691) and Hannah (King) Winter (b. c1645) JOHN 2 WINTER (JOHN 1 ) was born about 1634, 12 probably in England. HANNAH 2 KING (WILLIAM 1 ) was born in Watertown, Mass. in 1644 or 1645, after the death of her father. 13 John Winter married Hannah King, 14 probably in Watertown. By 10 Apr 1665 they were living in Cambridge Farms (Lexington). 15 John Winter, aged 56, made his will on 12 Dec He mentions eldest son John; sons Thomas and Samuel; and daughters Sarah, Hannah, and Mary. 16 Since he mentions no wife, she had certainly died some time earlier. John Winter died on 18 Dec His inventory was taken on 12 Jan 1690/91 and totaled s.6d. 18 His will was proved on 1 May On 6 Oct 1691 the probate court appointed three commissioners to divide the estate. This was probably due to the fact that two of the children named in the will, Thomas and Sarah, died shortly after the will was made. The commissioners recommended dividing the estate into seven shares, with the eldest son John getting a double share. 20 John Winter and Hannah (King) had the following children, all born in Cambridge Farms (Lexington): Prepared by Stuart Bloom, PO Box 487, Earlville, IL sbloom@earlvilleport.com.
