John Meidl on Williams at proposed that he was the son of George Williams, Jr., and Sarah Mann. (George Williams, Jr., was in Isle of Wight Co., VA, in 1704 and in Bertie Co. by 1722.) However, I think it is more likely that the Rev. Robert Williams, born 1717 in Chowan Precinct of Albemarle County, North Carolina, was the son of George Williams, Jr., and Sarah Mann Bertie Precinct was formed from the part of Chowan Precinct of Albemarle County lying west of the Chowan River, according to Wikipedia.org. Abt 1734 Perhaps Bertie Co., NC. Robert Williams married, daughter of Godfrey Lee and Sarah unknown. According to John Meidl, Robert Williams married first and then Sarah unknown. It is not clear who was the mother of the children but since was the first wife she is probably the mother. Robert Williams, Sr. had two deeds dated 1768 that mention his wife Sarah. These three were specifically identified in the deed as the children of SARAH ONLY. None of them - including your Anne (Lee) Williams - was a child of Joseph Scott. Joseph Scott and Sarah (--) Lee had NO CHILDREN TOGETHER. Joseph Scott's will no longer survives, but according to a suit brought against Sarah by his children, Joseph left most of his property to Sarah's children (his stepchildren), and Joseph's natural children sued Sarah to get what they felt was their rightful inheritance."
