4 OUR UNITY & COMMUNITY FAMILY For more information about any of these announcements, please visit our website at or call the church office ( ). Quilts for Sale Every Monday afternoon from ladies from the community gather in the First Church basement to work on making quilts. The process includes matching and coordinating patterns and colors, cutting squares, laying out squares, pinning and eventually knotting. Since last May, over 200 quilts have been made and given to several charities. Some of them include Salvation Army, James House, Safe Avenues, and Bob Dykstra. The following is an excerpt from a letter recently received: Your donation of quilts comes at a critical time of increased need for our services and great challenges in securing resources to support our work. The items will be used for families in need who utilize any program of Safe Avenues. Many of the families have left everything behind and are starting over. Your contribution enables victims to stop the hurting, start the healing, and ushers families into healthy, successful lives. ***Several quilts are displayed in the basement of First Church and are offered for sale. They are priced according to size. Contact Judy Roskamp at if you are interested in purchasing a quilt. The quilters welcome donations of cotton fabric (no polyester) and good flat sheets double or queen sizes.
