1 God s Word H e lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Psalm 40:3-2 (NIV) 1 The Galilean A Day in the LIfe Waiting until the last minute, I decided to go get an oil change on Christmas Eve. It was the rare occasion that procrastination paid off. It was done quite quickly. After paying, I inquired about tires which I needed last year (the Great Procrastinator). The guy at the place was new and young, and at this establishment, my experience with new people creates in me unnecessary stress. He couldn t find me in the computer. Finally, he pulled up tire options. I knew several brands were on sale and was (for the most part) prepared for the price quotes. The first price out of his mouth was $50.00 per tire. I laughed! I really laughed! A familiar salesman came over to us. I was still laughing, and finally with some composure, asked them both, were they bicycle tires? Now I love a bargain, yet even in my financial condition know better than to put REALLY cheap tires on my car. Maybe I should have been insulted. They weren t even on sale! I did apologize for laughing in the guy s face. Finally, the other man gave me reasonable prices and known brands to consider. Next, on to Sam s Club. Back in my car, it decided to not start. I used my handy charger, waited the 10 minutes before restarting...nothing. Maybe 10 was not enough; I charged again for 15 and she started fine. My last stop was to Chic-fil-a to use a free coupon that (you guessed it) was about to expire. While checking my purse I found a movie pass (no expiration) that I had for years. I decided I as going to give it to the person at the register. I ordered my sandwich and treated myself to small waffle fries. I gave him the pass and moved out of the way to wait for my order. I got down the road a bit and it hit me, I did not pay for my food! But I must have! I scrambled in the bag for a receipt...not there. I checked my purse; the bill I was going to use to pay for the food was still there. The only thing left to do was to drive all the way back and fix this act of Continued on page 2

I went back in and waited for the same guy. I said to him, I didn t pay for my food. He said, I know. He thought I as trading the pass for the food. I apologized, assured him that as not my intention, and proceeded to pay. He told me he had written it off as a promotion. I made sure it was o.k. and that he as was not going to get into any trouble. I also told him, I am going to be accountable to God for a whole lot of things, but a small waffle fries as not going to be one of them. He re -assured me, and after thanking him, I went straight home. It is my desire to please the Lord in all I do. Sometimes I m successful; sometimes I think He rolls His eyes and shakes His head. Whether I m laughing in some guys face or stealing waffle fries, I know He loves me. I know that His spirit of living right is in me and when I get it wrong, that same spirit compels me to fix that thing and make it right. I pray that in this New Year, the Spirit of living righteous and Christ-like overtakes us all; every minute of every day...even when we unintentionally steal fast food!
