1 FBC eblast April 11, I see dead people, says a boy in a well-known movie from the 1990s. Jesus sees dead people, too; that s why He came. Ephesians 2 says, God even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. We re not good people who just need a little extra help when there s a crisis; we re not smart folks who need some extra wisdom for the big decisions; we re not nice people who need a little religion to make sure we get to heaven we are dead people who need life, and Jesus is the only place to find it. Outside of Christ, you may be alive in some senses, but in the most important sense spiritually you re dead. Jesus said, Without Me, you can do nothing (John 15: 5) Know why? Dead people can t do anything. Whatever improvements you make in life outside of Him amount to dressing up a corpse. He s not our last hope He s our only hope. He doesn t grab us when we re going under for the last time; He brings us to life when we re dead and floating on the surface. Salvation in Christ means going from death to life, and living in Him means keeping that old dead you buried where it belongs. When He looks at you, does Jesus see dead people? This Sunday morning we ll focus on the cross, in order to prepare for the empty tomb on Easter Sunday. Jesus died for you,, and in Matthew 27: 33 61, we ll see the historical details of how that happened. On Sunday night, the Youth Choir will sing and then we ll turn to Jeremiah 29 and consider how we lose far too many todays, waiting until things are different wishing it were tomorrow, or wishing it were yesterday. His 4 simple points: 1) You must put away any unconfessed sin; 2) You must put away any doubtful habit; 3) You must promptly obey the Holy Spirit; 4) You must publicly confess Christ. All 17 young people made a commitment to do just that.
