1 1 (281) Political Advertising paid for by Clear Creek Republican Women Oh glorious day! January 20, 2017, the day Donald J. Trump became the 45th President of the United States of America. The day that saw the country turn away from Socialism and back toward a country of, by, and for the people. Did you watch the inauguration? I couldn't turn away! When was the last time you heard The Battle Hymn of the Republic? What an awesome song! The patriotism and love of America was felt across the land. To quote President Trump, "If there is patriotism in your heart, there is no room for prejudice". Love that! Now that the celebrations are over it is time for us to get to work helping the President get this country back on the right track. I would encourage you to stay/get engaged in electing conservatives at local and state levels. Stay informed. A good way to do that is to renew your membership in CCRW! There is an application at the bottom of this newsletter, or you can contact Kari Long, or pick up an application at our next general meeting on February 3rd, when we will be hearing from Judge Henry. Inside this issue: Legislative Update 2 TFRW Legislative Day, Meeting Lunch Menu 3 Calendar of Events 4 Birthdays 4 Publicity Message 4 CCRW Announcements 5 Chaplains Message 5 Inauguration Photos 6 Membership application 7 As a way of keeping CCRW educated, several members of the board (Loretta Roberts, Kathie Nenninger, Bonnie Wilson, Melissa Johnson) and myself, attended a "Nuts and Boltz" training hosted by TFRW in Houston. Loretta Roberts and I will also be attending the TFRW Board Meeting in Austin. Then there is Legislative Day in April (more info in this newsletter) that is always a great way to get an understanding of how Texas government works. As always, please get in touch with me or any member of the board with any questions or comments. Exciting times! Lots going on! Get involved! February Guest Speaker Mark Henry Galveston County Judge Elected in 2010, Judge Henry is the 28th County Judge in Galveston County history, which dates back to 1838 and only the 5th Judge since World War II. Judge Henry has led the charge to cut spending, shrink the size of county government, lower the tax rate, refinance bonds at historic low rates and worked to ensure the county held some funds in reserve to protect against uncertainty in the health care industry. He s been a leader in promoting wellness in the county and constituent selfservice, leading to better results with fewer employees. He is a fifth generation Texan, born and raised in the Houston area, and a graduate of the University of Houston. After graduation, he received an appointment to Air Force Officer Training School Lillian Murphy, CCRW President and worked in the classified arena of Space Operations, and then held many staff positions at Professional Military Colleges. After six years of active duty, Captain Henry transferred to the Air Force Reserve where he retired as a Major in 2010 while running for office. In 1995, Mark started a successful aviation company in Galveston County which still operates today and has been recognized by the US Government for its excellent service. In 2014, Mark and wife Amy founded a new microbrewery which is rapidly expanding and currently distributes six products to the Greater Houston Area. Mark is married to Amy and they have two twin girls born in the Fall of Formerly a runner, Mark s only hobby now is taking care of his girls. Re-elected in 2014, Mark is now serving his second term and we are all very lucky to have his friendship and leadership as Galveston County Judge.

Chaplain s Message by Mary O. Blackwell American stands as a beacon of hope and freedom. Why is that? Our Founding Fathers created a system of government that has stood for over two hundred years. In my observation of the world at this time I see a serious threat to our nation. From the leaders of our government to the ordinary folks there is corruption, hate, murder and sexual immorality that is rampant. As most of us know the Founding Fathers used the biblical principles of Judeo-Christianity to form our American. Here are a couple of insights to the hearts of these two famous historical people. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ George Washington s Earnest Prayer The prayer was written by Washington at Newburgh, New York, at the close of the Revolutionary War on June 14, It was sent to the thirteen governors of the new freed states in a Circular Letter Address to the Governors of the States on the Disbanding of the Army I now make it my earnest prayer that God would have you, and the state over which you preside, in His holy protection; that He would incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another, for their fellow citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for brethren who have served in the field; and finally that He would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind, which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without an humble imitation of who example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy nation. (from In God We Still Trust by Dr. Richard G. Lee) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~. Patrick Henry Governor of Virginia It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. (from In God We Still Trust by Dr. Richard G. Lee) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ John Hancock signer of the Declaration of Independence Principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hand of God that gave it: and my body I recommend to the earth...nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mercy and power of God. (from In God We Still Trust by Dr. Richard G. Lee) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These are but a few of example of writings of people who began and shaped our blessed country. My prayer and I hope your prayer is that we have a fire for God, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

6 6 The dawn of a new presidency The night before the inauguration Dawn at East Wing of the Nations Capital And the stage is set Melania Trump Donald Trump taking the oath of office with his family alongside. Donald J. Trump walking out on the platform (L) Mary and Bob Blackwell. It was our first time in DC and we witnessed this most memorable event.
