2 ELDER REFLECTION Are you comfortable in church in the building itself? When I come in the North door of the church (11th Street entrance), I am either headed to the office to turn in some paperwork or pick something up from Pastor Mike. If it is Wednesday evening, it is time for choir practice which is always a fun time. After a little time discussing what is going on in everyone s lives, we practice our music for the upcoming weeks (right now it is for Advent) and simply enjoy lifting our voices together in song. If you have been getting a nudge to participate, come join us. We would love to have you. When I enter the building from the East door (alley) there is a meal or a celebration of some kind happening in the church family. When I enter the building on the West side (front door, Madison Street) it is an event I have come to enjoy like the painting party Angie Miller hosted to raise funds for the Blessing Box. When I enter any of these doors, I know I am going to see church family that means each and every one of you. That makes me happy. Did you know you are my family and I care about each of you? I may not get to talk to you each time we are in God s house, but I love each and every one of you. Please, I want you to feel at home in God s house as much as I do. Whether we are gathered in the sanctuary or the fellowship hall, it is our family gathering together. Mick and I have been coming in these doors for family events of all kinds for 44 years. Please know you are welcome to be a part of bible studies, suppers, lunches or just to sit in the sanctuary by yourself and absorb the worship. If you do not feel welcome in the fellowship because there are too many people, remember that they are not just people, they are family. If I am not there, I am finishing up my morning church-chores like bringing the attendance sheet as well as my list of joys and concerns to the office to help Pastor Mike and Letty compile our church family prayer list. Matthew 18:20 says, Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them. It is as we gather that we recognize God in our midst. Won t you come gather with me? I love you, you know. We need to restock around 35 items in the box every day. That means we need more help bringing in food items. There is no need to get every item on the list, but if you can pick-up a few each time you go to the grocery store and bring them to church, that would be great. The initial items we are putting in the blessing box are: Canned fruit, Soups, Chili/stew/chef Boyardee cans, canned chicken, Chicken helper, canned tuna, tuna helper, Macaroni and cheese, Peanut butter, Jelly/jam, Breakfast cereal, Powdered milk, Spaghetti noodles, Spaghetti sauce, Crackers, Vienna sausage, Green beans, and Corn. Pull top cans preferred.
