As we celebrate Jesus Resurrection for fifty days, we are compelled to consider what we do about the Resurrection. Join us as we write the story of an active Easter faith. Friday, April 13 9am-3pm Most items are 25 Friday- BAKE SALE to benefit Relay for Life Saturday, April 14 9am-Noon Everything is $1.00 per bag! To make our sale successful, we need donations. So while you re spring cleaning, please think of donating. You may bring items to the church Mon, April 9 - Thurs, April 12. Please place your donations on the marked tables. This save a lot of time for volunteers. PLEASE- NO electronics (computer parts, microwaves, TV s, etc). We are always in need of volunteers to help pack the leftovers on Saturday at noon. 3 NEW MEMBER Dawn Whipple will unite as a member on Sunday, April 1 at the 9:00am worship service. Dawn is pictured here next to her favorite sign at Not Justa Café during her New Member lunch with Pastor Jeremy. Baptism Brynlee Christina Ennis, daughter of Andrew & Paige Ennis will be baptized on Sunday, April 1 at the 10:30am worship service. Grandparents in our congregation are Rob & Christina Ennis and great grandfather is Ron Leier. Celebrate our Confirmands Sunday, April 8 Confirmation Sunday is here! God willing, each of our three confirmands will say yes to a renewed relationship with God through Christ on Sunday April 8, 2018 at one 9:00am worship service (No 10:30 Casual worship that Sunday). Over the past year, they have been studying with an adult mentor from the congregation, learning about a variety of topics, such as God, Jesus, Baptism, Life in the Church, and United Methodist Beliefs and History. Perhaps you ve also seen them help out in worship! Confirmation is a program for youth, usually in the 9 th grade year. Confirmation means that a youth gets to confirm their baptism. They get to say yes to the promises their parents made on their behalf when baptized as a baby. Alternatively, if a youth is not yet baptized, it is also a chance to prepare for baptism. I am very proud of the confirmands who have spent Wednesday evenings here learning more about what it means to be a person of faith, and I am very grateful for the time and ministry of their wonderful mentors who have helped each of these students grow: Brady Cunningham, mentored by Ted Bartels Tyler Larson, mentored by Jackie Kumm Eddie Noyes, mentored by John Meisner You can show your support for their journey by attending their confirmation, or by congratulating them in person or with cards. Each of the twenty self-standing sessions contains a 20-minute DVD segment drawn from the critically acclaimed Living the Questions 2 series. Open to everyone! It s a true story which recounts how Corrie and her family hid Jews in their home during the Nazi occupation of Holland. Questions? The group makes beautiful patchwork quilts from mostly donated material and gives them away to various non-profit organizations (Grace Place & Harbor House). 5 Worship Brainstorming Party Join Pastor Jeremy for the third ever worship brainstorming party on Thursday April 26 at 7:00pm! Thank you SO much to everyone who has brought in grocery receipts over the past 20+ months. This past week we reached our goal of $150,000! We will now mail them in and receive $1,000 that we will use for camp scholarships for our children & youth. 6 UM Women Rummage Sale: The spring rummage sale will be Friday & Saturday, April On Saturday shoppers can fill a bag for $1.00. Keep saving your brown paper grocery bags for this. Leave them in the kitchen. Please bring items for the sale Monday, April 9-Thursday, April 12. Items should be clean and free of tags. Please put your items on the proper tables if you can. We are asking for help setting up tables after worship April 8. If you can help with the set-up, please come to the fellowship hall after church that day. Beefburger Luncheon: Wednesday, April 25 is the public luncheon from 11:00-1:00. Laurel Olson is preparing the lists of needed donations and helpers. Pies and Jellos can be brought to the kitchen by 10:00 a.m. April 25. Monetary donations can be left in the office by April 16. Plan to attend and support this project to fund mission support. Unit Meeting: Thursday, April 12 at 9:30 a.m. Karen Langer will present the program, followed by a business meeting and treats provided by Sandy Green. Lists for the workers for the rummage sale, and Beefburger Luncheon will be finalized. North West District Spring Day of Enrichment will be held at Chippewa Falls Trinity UMC Saturday, April 14. One of the speakers will be a local friend, Patricia Shilts. She will share her story of boarding school living starting with her birth on Standing Rock Indian Reservation to an Indian Government School in Pierre South Dakota. She is presently living in rural New Richmond. There is still time to register. See Minerva Barnhart or Sandy Green or Janet Knutson. Transportation will be available. Annual Mission Award: Every year an award is presented to a person(s) or group that has demonstrated the spirit of mission in our church community. Do you know of someone worthy of this recognition? If so, let any UMW member know as soon as possible. Names will be presented at the May 10 meeting. You can also write a name down and leave it in the UMW communication area on the wall in the parlor. RECORDS AND HISTORY The Veterans Honor Roll of U. S. military members from the Federated Church (one of the churches that merged with the Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1968 to become the United Methodist Church of New Richmond) has been mounted in the Records and History Room on the north wall. It lists the veterans who entered the service in World War II. The Honor Roll was presented to the church on July 4, 1943 by Dr. J.H. Armstrong. Of special note is the name of Robert Harmon, one of the veterans whom the American Legion Post #80 is named. Of the list of veterans, only two are living. Carl Woodward is living at Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, after retiring from the Dairy Queen business in Lake Geneva. His first wife was the former Carol Rundhammer from Star Prairie. His brother-in-law was Lyle Kellaher, former local businessman and member of the Post #80 American Legion in New Richmond for over 50 years. Carl s brother, George Woodward, attended Wheaton College in Illinois and became a pilot for Wycliff Translators in Peru. He and his wife are living in a retirement missionary village at Tahlequah, Oklahoma. You are welcome to stop and view the Honor Roll in Room Janet Knutson, History & Records Chair 6

7 Upper Level Restroom Refurbishing In the coming weeks, our Trustees and Decorating Committee will be working on plans to update the restrooms upstairs. If you would like to donate to the project, please mark your donation for the project. New Addition to Fellowship Hall You may have wondered Where did the large pictures go that were in the narthex? The pictures were given in memory of Robert Harmon and John Peirson, relatives of Bill Peirson. Last fall they were moved to the fellowship hall and at the beginning of March, the addition of two plaques were added. Thank you to Bill & Bev Peirson for their history on these two men and to Dave & Sally Berkholder and Pearl Christensen for their help putting it all together! Make sure to stop and check them out. SUMMER CHURCH CAMPS! Last year, we had 5 youth attend United Methodist summer camps. Some were members of the church and a few weren t a part of a church community. Scholarships given from this church for those campers totaled $850. Thank you for that support in 2017! Again this year, we invite your help to recruit campers and give to the camp scholarship fund so all that want to go can.
