We have had the opportunity to come to know and love Pastor Jason as he has served our church as Associate Pastor and Minister of Students and Families. We have witnessed first hand his compassionate heart, spiritual calling and zeal to be a servant of God. He has been blessed with many talents and gifts. Along with his ministry at Cowee Baptist, Reverend Smith also currently serves as Youth Ministry Director for the Macon Baptist Association, is a member of the Crisis Response Team for Macon County Schools, is a member of the Pastoral Leadership Team for Heart for Families, and is a volunteer Chaplain at Angel Medical Center. He previously served as Youth Pastor of Cartoogechaye Baptist Church. Reverend Smith is a graduate of Western Carolina University and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Pastor Jason, along with his wife, Sherry, and children, Hope and Grant, are native to Franklin. Sherry is employed at Entegra Bank and Hope and Grant attend Cartoogechaye Elementary School. We firmly believe that under God s leadership, and the guidance of Pastor Jason, we will continue to see even greater things happen for our Lord at Cowee Baptist Church! The church family is invited to a drop-in reception on August 7 from 4-6pm. Let s join together in showing our support and appreciation to Pastor Jason and his family. RIVER BAPTISM: A river baptism is planned for August 14, following services. After baptism, join in fellowship with hot dogs and drinks provided. Your family is welcome to take a swim or fish in the river. Bring a lawn-chair and come together with your church family as we celebrate those that have new life in Christ! If you would like to be baptized, contact Pastor Jason (jason@coweebaptist.org) or Pastor Ronnie (ronnie@coweebaptist.org). Inside this Issue: Thank You s & More Pg. 2 Monthly Calendar Pg. 3 Children Pg. 4 Students & Families Pg. 5 Missions Pg. 6 LIA 365 & Gems Pg. 7 New Members/Baptism Pg. 8 I am so thankful for the blessing of being called to Pastor this great church. It truly is one of the greatest honors that I can imagine experiencing, that the Lord would call me to serve in such a way. My family and I are so excited for the days ahead, and have experienced the Lord s presence in a great way throughout this process. A friend sent me this message a few weeks back: God is looking for a bunch of nobodies filled with somebody (Jesus) to take the Gospel to this world and make a difference. That is something I will sign up for any day of the week. I am humbled and so honored to be part of what God is doing! I love you all and am so so blessed to be your Pastor! I can't wait to see what God has planned for His church, and I truly believe the best is yet to come. It is my heart and prayer to be a good shepherd to this flock (1 Peter 5:1-4), and I appreciate your prayers so much as we begin this new chapter together. May we continue to be a church that will bring Him Glory, as we continue on the mission God has called us to in Macon County, and around the world. Love you all, Pastor Jason

We had at least one come to Christ and many more to follow up with! * NO CHILDREN S CHOIR PRACTICE, AUGUST 10 The children will be performing for both services on Sunday, August 28th.
