3 Council Meeting May 24, 2018 Members present: Kelly Zillmer, Brian Knight, Tina Schultz, Jen Reinke, Jackie Baldwin, Pete Fannin. Others present: Sarah Blashe Absent: Pastor Janice, Kris Zillmer Called to order by Fannin at 6 PM. Minutes from April meeting approved Schultz/Reinke Financials presented by Blashe. The budget is running in the red to a greater extent than last year. Discussion on ways to reduce expense. Financials accepted by motion. Knight/Zillmer. Approval of $58 for vinyl lettering brought by membership includes guidance that any non-budgeted expenditures require approval by council prior to action. Baldwin/Reinke. Discussion of keys and access to the church facility. Baldwin will get key lock box to secure the key. Discussion of snow shoveling of the area at entry that plow does not reach. Someone is needed by snow time. Discussion of constitution and by-laws. Baldwin cannot find meeting minutes showing the constitution proposed after our exit from ELCA was ever actually adopted or signed by leadership. She will continue to search and update us at the special meeting previously scheduled to review the bylaws. This meeting is after worship on June 3, Discussion on Harvest Ministries simulcast. St. Peters needs someone to organize this if we wish to participate. No action. Discussion on window cleaning. Ladies handled this last year. No action. Welcome Team / Hospitality Captain The Elders are seeking an individual to serve our congregation as HOSPITALITY CAPTAIN, to oversee the various tasks of hospitality and welcoming. This person would recruit others to be part of a WELCOMING TEAM. This isn t meant to be a committee that holds meetings but a team that serves by showing hospitality to both members of our congregation and visitors to worship or other events hosted by St. Peter s. The WELCOMING TEAM would include Ushers and Greeters and others. Is this description piquing your interest? Is God perhaps calling you up to take on this role? Garfield (the old hardware store). Hours will be Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-noon. 3

This training will be held at four locations for your convenience. It is for first time sponsors, repeat sponsors and pastors who will be asked to sign the pilgrim application. Men s Book Study and Fellowship - A Wanted Man There will be a 6 session men s fellowship and book study starting Sunday, June 17 and running every other Sunday, ending August 26.

5 Men s Book Study and Fellowship - A Wanted Man There will be a 6 session men s fellowship and book study starting Sunday, June 17 and running every other Sunday, ending August 26. Men will be doing a fun outdoor activity, followed by a short video and a discussion. Fun activities will include a bow shoot, kayak trip, sporting clay shoot, and others. The events will start at 5:30 p.m. with an approximate end time of 7:30 p.m., depending on the activity. The book being studied is A Wanted Man by author Jason Cruise. Jason is a nationally known author and speaker known for the Man Minute and the Spring Chronicle show on the Sportsman Channel. You can learn more about Jason at JasonCruise.com. Cost of the book is $13 each, however books can be available at no cost if needed. Please notify Tom Miller or Brandon Blashe if you plan to attend. All men are welcome, you don t need to be a member of St. Peters to participate VBS is scheduled for July 23-27, 1-4 p.m. each day with the theme Don t Miss the Boat. Registration is open for preschool -9th graders with older kids welcome to participate or assist. To sign up for snacks, volunteer to help in the kitchen or teach or to register your child(ren), contact Laurie Miller at or Kay Knight at Registration can also be done online at The day will begin with a song by the older kids and Tom Miller doing his famous story telling. The kids will then break into smaller groups for crafts, games and snacks and the older group for archer, quilt or another projects as well as games and snacks. A joint closing will end the day. Donations of plastic water bottles and empty toilet paper rolls are also needed and can be placed in Kay s office. Waupaca Resource Center Clean-Up & Car Wash The Waupaca Resource Center has asked for some help painting and cleaning up on Monday, June 11, and possibly another day if the work is not completed. A tentative date for a car wash has also been scheduled for June 15. Kay Knight has volunteered to pick kids up if rides are needed as long as she knows in advance. Friends are also invited to attend. Survivor! Are You Registered? Paperwork is being accepted for the Survivor weekend scheduled for August 3-5 at Christus Camp, Clintonville. Garfield Ave, Marion, WI from 6:30 to 8:30p.m. Phil Stacey is an American singer who first gained national attention on season 6 of the television talent show American Idol. Phil supported his family as a U.S. Sailor, remaining on active duty as he appeared on the TV show. Following Idol, he signed with Lyric Street Records and began working on an album, the first single from which, If You Didn t Love Me, was released to country stations in early His self-titled debut followed in April. I m supposed to be touching other people s lives, doing the best I can to be a positive force in the world. Opening for this event is Matt Kolb who was born and raised in Oshkosh. He began his musical journey at the age of 13. "Music has always pulled at me, from a child singing in the car with my family. Matt began playing drums at 13, and singing and playing guitar at 15. Being heavily influenced by the late 80's heavy metal scene he found himself playing in several all original acts in the Fox Valley from high school to the late 90's. Dr. Kent Hunter of Church Doctor Ministries has been invited to help us to consider how congregations of any size can be focused on the Great Commission and develop a kingdom mindset. Jo Kinnard will be returning this year to serve as Bible study leader as we reflect on the text of Ephesians 4. It is time for our churches to grow up and become mature, hearing the call for every member to carry out the work of ministry as God has designed His Church to do. Fellowship Meet-Ups: We're offering several opportunities to get connected with a fellowship group, join a district, network with other LCMC-ers, or reunite with old friends and colleagues. Service Project: For our service project this year, we will once again be teaming up with Meals from the Heartland to help assemble meals for the hungry. Our goal this year to raise $80,000 for supplies and package 320,000 meals for people in need. Breakout Sessions: Explore topics related to your interests at two different sessions. Photo Contest: All eligible photos submitted by Monday, July 16, 2018 will be considered for publication in this year's Annual Gathering book and on our website. The conference will be held in Des Moines, IA, Oct. 7-10, at HyVee Hall Convention Center, 730 3rd St. The Hilton Des Moines Downtown offers complimentary airport shuttle and free parking for hotel guests and is offering a favorable discount for the Annual Gathering at $149/night.
