The Parish is also usually represented at the Humber Chemical Focus Liaison Panel. The Parish Council has now had its war memorial installed in the WI Community Garden and a small service was held on Remembrance Day with the Council laying a wreath on behalf of the residents of Stallingborough. Thanks to the WI for liaising with us on this project, to Mariner Groundworks for preparing the site and to Serenity Memorials for the provision and installation of the memorial. Parish Council Meetings are always held at 7.30 pm at the Village Hall Lounge area to the rear of the Hall, on the second Wednesday of each month and there is always a public session for residents to speak on issues which they wish to bring before the Parish Council. The next meetings of the Council will take place as below and an Agenda for the meeting always appears on the Parish Council s website approximately one week prior to the meeting. 2 23

Hello Everyone, It may have been a senior moment but somehow I managed to send the wrong article to Kathy last time so that s why you may have had a déjà vu moment when reading the W.I. piece!! Hopefully I shall attach the correct article this time! We had a brilliant outing to Sledmere House in July. The weather was perfect, the house fascinating and the gardens beautiful. Most of us went on a guided tour of the house in to groups. When we met up and the end of the tours one of the guides played Jerusalem on the house organ it was amazing and we sang with gusto despite the goosebumps. Our Summer Supper, celebrating our 95th birthday in August, was a lovely relaxing evening. We just ate, drank and talked (we re quite good at the talking bit). Christine s husband Andy took a group photo a copy of which is now under the clock in the village hall. Next of the Summer Wine were very entertaining at our Harvest Supper, as the saying goes a good time was had by all. Bob Swallow was also very entertaining when he told us about growing old disgracefully. The Parish Council would like to wish its residents a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous Fire Safety was the subject at our November meeting. Cheryl from Humberside Fire service gave us a talk about the safety precautions to take in our homes to prevent fires starting. Her laptop wouldn t work in the village hall so she couldn t show us the presentation she had prepared. After she d finished her talk she answered members questions. Our meeting on December 7 th is a Christmas craft evening and Faith Supper. Continued overleaf
I Some members will be attending the Group carol service at St. Michael s church Littlecoates on Wednesday 6 th December. Mince Pie Day is at W.I. House Brigg on 7 th December We have no meeting in January but are going out for a celebratory meal at Stallingborough Grange on Thursday 18 th January. Our first meeting of 2018 is on Thursday February 1 st when Pam Withers will be demonstrating ceramics crafting. Afterwards members will be given the chance to have a go. We have raised some money towards buying a defibrillator for the village but we still need more if anyone would like to make a donation then please contact me. We meet in the Village Hall at 7.30pm on the first Thursday of each month (except January and May). Any ladies wishing to see what W.I. is all about will be made most welcome. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all! Jenny Short (882136) FREE LESSONS I am running short 30 minute computer support lessons at Keelby Village Hall on the last Wednesday of each month. These are singular one-to-one lessons, not a group, although you are welcome to bring your partner if you wish. I provide a laptop with internet connection to walk you through a tutorial. This can be: Absolute basics Backing Up your Data A subject of your choice You can bring your own laptop if you prefer but remember this is a tutorial and not a repair session, although that can be arranged. It is more of a chat to go through the bits that you need to have explained or shown with a few extras thrown in, nothing too overwhelming and hopefully of benefit to you. Duncan Green. Please book through the website

CHURCH NEWS On a Saturday morning in early October, I was waiting in the Church car park to meet someone. Whilst there, a number of cars arrived from which dogs were decanted and taken off for a walk. On arrival back at the car park, one of the drivers disposed of his plastic bag of dog muck in the Cemetery Wheelie Bins. When I told him he should be taking it home to his house, he replied most indignantly that he had every right to leave the stuff at the Church. I tried to explain to him that those bins are no longer being emptied by the Council because it says that the private road to the Church is unsafe for its waste collection vehicles. The Church Council is aware of this and has, with very little success, previously asked people replenishing the flowers etc. on graves to take the dead vegetation home. So how are we coping? Certain people from time to time transfer the Cemetery waste into bags and take it to their home bin. I would have thought that was an unpleasant enough task without having to deal with bags of dog muck as well! Finally, he called my attitude un-christian. Well in my long life I have been called many things, some of them when I was a raw army recruit unrepeatable, and I never claim to be a Paragon of all Virtues, but un-christian over a bag of dog much? What is the world coming to? I will also mention the several reports of extended waiting times at the level crossing. Recent conversations I have had with senior Network rail engineers put the problem down to dry leaves on the track at this time of year interfering with the train detection system. Hopefully this should not persist and I will ask of Network Rail if there is any chance of avoiding this in the future. Why not avoid the Grimsby parking charges and the horrendous traffic congestion. Take the train, do your Christmas shopping followed by a leisurely lunch, finished off just in time to catch the homeward departure. Events Calendar Lincoln Christmas Market 7 th 10 th December. Trains every 2 hrs from Habrough. Don t forget NELincs concession holders travel half price!! Contact Please feel free to me. maravet@live.com Best wishes Martin. John Taylor Stallingborough Church Council PS Finally on behalf of the PCC may I thank Norman Coffey who, in additional to doing a great deal of work tidying up the Old Churchyard and improving the road has, several times, taken on the task of sorting out the Wheelie Bins
THE BARTON & CLEETHORPES COMMUNITY RAIL PARTNERSHIP The Barton & Cleethorpes Community Rail Partnership was formed in 2007 following a government initiative to encourage community participation in the running of certain designated rail lines and the B & C was one of them. The forum consists of representatives from parish councils, local authority officers and councillors along with representatives from the Network Rail, the train operators, and other interested parties. The group meets four times a year and as the representative from Stallingborough I hope to continue these articles regularly in our newsletter and this is the second edition. News Currently there is a consultation underway concerning the extension of the Robin Hood service from Nottingham(via Gainsborough & Brigg) all the way to Cleethorpes restoring a link that brought flocks of thousands to the resort every weekend in years gone by.bccrp is working in conjunction with a sister CRP in Notts and N. Lincs to bring this about and the campaign has the support of the local MP Martin Vickers. Naturally I am doing everything possible to ensure that if the service goes ahead the train will stop at Stallingborough to provide a much requested additional train link westwards, as well as to Cleethorpes. Please feel free to me to lend support to this campaign. The next BCCRP meeting is on 5 th December at which I will ask of the Network Rail member, how many reported vehicle crossing violations there have been in recent months as this was mentioned at the WI Community Event on 18 th October. 14 Ward Councillors for Stallingborough There are 3 Ward Cllrs. for the Immingham Ward which of course includes Stallingborough Village.
