There are many sayings like that around posted on Facebook, Twitter, stuck on poles in lawns, stapled to telephone poles. They serve as 30 second sermons and reminders in the world around us as to what we are really about. Our journey on life s highway has ups, bumps, potholes, curveballs etc. We need to stay focused on where God wants us to be and what He truly wants us to be about in the world. May is the Pentecost Picnic. Please attend and visit with your family. Thanks to Father Ted Bailey for being our Supply Priest for 5 weeks. It was very nice to have him return for a visit. Father Morgan Gardner has said he will be starting in the middle of the month. Please welcome him. Just a reminder, I am only an mdjackjr@cox.net or a phone call away. 4 4 P a g e 4 T h e K i n g s C r i e r Farewell to the Budds Father Richard Budd celebrated his last Eucharist with Christ the King on Easter Day, April 1, He and Claudia were persuaded to return to CTK on the following Saturday for a golf themed send off party. It was an evening of music, laughter, and tears. Father Budd stepped in to help this parish and he will be sorely missed. Christ the King wishes Father Budd and Claudia all the best in their new assignment. Meredith Please convey to the Vestry my heart-felt thanks for the dedicated Altar Book. It is gratifying to know that in a very central way I will always be present at Sunday Eucharist and other special events of worship at CTK. The Senior Warden presents a new dedicated Altar Book. I love it. Thank you. Dick and I have been incredibly blessed to be part of CTK. You all are our dear friends, our partners with Christ. We knew the first time we walked through the doors of the church that surely the presence of God is in this place. A gift from the Parish Thank you God, and thank you all. 6 6 V o l u m e 3 1, i s s u e 5 P a g e 6 Heart 2 Hands By Angie Nicholson seeing a car commercial with people smiling at other people. They re asked if they know those people. Why do you have to know someone to smile at them? Sometimes that little smile will make their day and you don t have to know them to smile. Besides, smiles are contagious. They spread fast from one person to another. We could start an epidemic of smiling people! What day is this? I know it s April because I remember doing Easter. I just crawled out of an avalanche of blankets and I m not sure what s going on. I ve made 3 pet blankets for Suffolk Humane Society s Mutt Strut and had an order for a baby blanket. On top of that, I found out that my great-great niece is expected to arrive next month. So, I m making a blanket for her. I ve been buried under blankets! Take some time this month to smile at people you don t know. Or, smile for no reason at all. Do something good for another person for no reason. You could start an avalanche of good things! And it just takes 1 smile to get started. Until next month, Angie and the crew I don t know if we have had any little visitors this month but Sunny hasn t said anything about them. He would tell me if we had any show up. We have been going through a lot of veggies though so I better check. They re either going to little visitors I don t know about or the guinea pigs are raiding the fridge when I m not looking. So what have you been doing this month? I hope you ve had some time to do good things for others. I ve been

7 7 V o l u m e P a g e 7 Cursillo Report Cursillo Weekend #164 was held April at Camp Chanco, adding 14 new Cursillistas to the fold. Fifteen Cursillistas attended the Peninsula Ultreya at Christ the King on April 28 th, with Gwen Bunyard giving the witness talk. The May Peninsula Ultreya has been canceled due to multiple scheduling conflicts. The next Cursillo Weekend is a coed, #165, to be held September at Camp Chanco. Linda Tandy is the Rector, with Gwen Bunyard serving as Backup Rector and Ronda Toll as Coordinator. Please see any of the CTK Cursillistas if you are interested in attending. Shalom, Al Bunyard The Youth Sunday School class has been studying the I AM statements of Jesus, found in the Book of John. The class built this vine to illustrate John 15:1-8 when Jesus said, I am the true vine. The vine represents Jesus Christ and each branch and leaf the people connected to Jesus through our prayers. So, basically, every branch and leaf stands for every person on earth. The vine is on display in the Youth Sunday School room. Stop in and add a leaf! I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine-grower. 2 He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes * to make it bear more fruit. 3 You have already been cleansed * by the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become * my disciples. John 15: 1-8

The ceremony was held at the Main Street Baptist Church in Luray, Virginia with Father Richard Budd as the Officiant. A reception was held immediately afterwards at Stover Hall, Luray, Virginia.
