1 The Shepherd s Voice Through the Holy Spirit, we are called by God to live Christ s love as we touch all those in our lives, our church, and our communities. February 2014 The gospel story last week was a real eye opener. Or perhaps an eye re-opener. Jesus didn t found an institutional church. He founded a Movement. A Movement that counter-claimed for God against Caesar and the ways of the Powers of this world. He called It, The Kingdom of God. There was a new (or better yet) a renewed way to be human now. Some folks today like our bishop talk about Lifestyle Christianity. Perhaps the renewal in the downsized, less popular church in the United States and elsewhere contains a gift for us. Perhaps it is the emphasis on action and living in the Movement and much less stuff you gotta believe or know for the confirmation test. Or arguments about Worship. Or whether to carpet or not to carpet the Sanctuary. Perhaps going to church is not to be a better person but to be transformed into a Kingdom person. One who can put on the mind of Christ Jesus as great teacher Paul says. One who daily allows Christ to move through, with and in him/her. Worship is the central act of the church being itself. Worship nourishes and fires us for not merely surviving the world but changing the world. And this always takes place in our relationships. From least to greatest. From the CVS cashier we will never see again to our spouse of 30 years. Every morning for twelve years as we go out the front door, a member of my family says Christ is counting on you. And the rest of us respond and I on Him So I ll say it now to you as you head out the doors of your life Christ is counting on you. Dear Friends, I am saddened to let you know that I recently received a note from Claudia Dalton, daughter of Helga Tinnin Bornemann, telling of Helga s death in October 2013 from a sudden heart attack. Helga lived for many years next door to Claudia and her family and very much enjoyed her home in Vermont. Some of you may recall that Helga and her husband Henry initiated the Sundaes on Sunday event that has traditionally marked the end of the Sunday School year. I will always remember Helga s twinkling blue eyes and irrepressible smile, and I am certain that many of you also have fond memories of her as well! It was truly a blessing to know her! Faithfully, Doris Schwarz

Do you hear a still, small voice? Do you communicate in dreams? How do you know when a prayer has been heard? Answered? Have you ever felt that God was physically present with you? I am collecting stories of answered prayers and might use them in an upcoming project. If you are willing to share, please send me your stories (I will ask your permission before sharing them with others). Be brave! The more we share these stories the more we discover how active God is in our lives - and how blessed we all are to be in relationship with our Lord. suejchin@hotmail.com, text to , or write them down on old-fashioned paper and mail to the church office or 25 Hammertown Rd, Monroe. Better still, come tell me in person!
