You may also be considering joining the church. Come to our Inquirer s Class, April 15, 22, 29, during the Sunday school hour (10:15-11:05). We will take three sessions to discuss brethren History, Theology, Practice, and answer any questions you may have. Sign up at the Information table to let us know you are joining us. Join Us in Babylon! Our VBS will be taking us to Babylon to hang out with Daniel. We will be taking this journey July 9-13, 6:15-8:30 in the evening. We are looking for volunteers: teachers, helpers, people to put up decorations, etc. Please sign up at the Information table. VBS will be held here at Smithville Brethren this year.

Thank you to Pastor Carr for the support before his passing and for helping us plan and performing both services, at the church and the grave site. Thank you to all that contributed to and served the meal after the funeral. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, cards, and prayers. The Family of Charles Fleming Church Blanket Ministry, Thank you so very much for the lap blankets. They are so colorful. The hand warmers will be a big hit too. Your kindness is really appreciated. The response we have received, for lap blankets and prayer shawls, has been very encouraging. Your prayers for our patients are needed. Thank you. Chaplain Ray Pfahler Wooster Community Hospital This month I have two new books by an exciting author, Jolina Petersheim. She is a bestselling author whose unique Mennonite heritage originated in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. A transplanted southern belle, she now lives on a farm with her husband and two young daughters in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin. Book One - The Alliance This is a gripping story that shows how cultural differences drop away in the face of life-altering circumstances and only the most deeply held truths survive. This book starts with a small plane crash in Leora Ebersole s Old Order Mennonite community. When Moses Hughes, the young pilot, regains consciousness, they realize his instruments were destroyed by the same power outage that killed the electricity at the community store, where all were stranded with dead cell phones and cars that won t start. When the community receives news of a new threat, everyone must decide how far they are willing to go to protect their beliefs and way of life. Book Two - The Divide This is the conclusion to The Alliance. When long-held beliefs are once again put to the test, Leora wrestles with the divide between having faith and taking action. Jolina Petersheim encourages us all to look deeper at what we believe and why. Find these two new books on the library table. Enjoy!! Prayer The Lower Lights class, in the downstairs fellowship hall, will be starting a new study beginning on Sunday, April 8. "The Prayers of Jesus" will encourage participants to strive for deeper intimacy with God through prayer. This DVD and discussion based series will likely take us into June. If you are not currently attending a Sunday school class, or wish to find deeper meaning in your prayer life, please join us.

Spend four exciting days, making new friends, being challenged in your faith, connecting to God through worship, laughter, play, and stay up well past your bed time. Engage is specially designed for both Jr. High and Sr. High youth, and it's certain to be a highlight of your summer. 6 Page 6 Friends Club Gives Back! On Saturday, March 10, Seventeen kids and eighteen adults descended on Smithville Brethren church to make a difference! They painted, fixed drywall above the door (water damage), organized and added shelves in the storage room in the UFH, built a shelf for the amp, tightened drawer handles in both kitchens, sharpened pencils in the sanctuary, cleaned and sterilized the nursery toys and the nursery, and checked backup batteries in the exit lights. Kids involved were as follows: Cameron, Katelyn, & Rebekah Carr, Brett, Kiley, & Tessa Underwood, Nathan Horst, Kylie & Jax Hostettler, Mika Jagger, Avery Mahas, Nora Zemancik, Kellen & Lyla Smith, Hunter & Addie Horst, Ethan & Makayla Adults involved were: Art & Jennifer Carr, Chet & Melissa Underwood, Kate & Ryan Smith, Amanda Cline, Rich Cline, Matt & Julie Hostettler, Paul & Stephanie Horst, Erik & Jessie, Joe Zemancik, Joe Beichler, Kerilynn Jagger, Judy Hostettler Thank you, kids and adults, for your gift of time and energy to the church! These words remind us of the responsibility we have for those who are in destitute poverty. You can change that for a child through Compassion International.
