4 From the Pastor My dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus: I would like to extend to you a very happy Easter! Today we celebrate the Lord s Resurrection, His victory over the power of sin and death! This is the good news of Jesus Christ, the good news of our faith! We know that Christ and only Christ can bring us the fullness of life, here and in the life hereafter. The world will try to tell us that money, popularity, or power can accomplish this same goal. This is simply not the case. It is only when we fall in love with Christ that we can come to happiness that lasts. So, if you wish to reinvigorate your faith, desire to grow in it, or have serious questions about it, then I invite you to come to our Alpha program. Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, run over ten weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone is welcome. And probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There s no obligation to say anything. And there s nothing you can t say. It s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment. Plus, we serve you a good meal! Do you have questions about life? Try Alpha. Are you searching for more? Try Alpha. Alpha will be running this Summer on Sunday evenings or Tuesday evenings this Fall. So please come and try it out! 7 For God sglory S CATHARINE OF SIENA PARISH COMMUNITY Fellow Parishioners The great feast of Easter is finally here - the high point of the Christian year! As we celebrate Christ s Resurrection, we also celebrate the promise that all those in Christ will experience their own resurrection from death to new life. And in and through the Church, that new life begins here and now! And while Christ s Resurrection is the most visible aspect of our new life, there are other visible signs as well. At the Easter Vigil Mass, we welcome new members to the Church, and newly confirmed members of the Church. Their presence among us is a sign that Christ continues to draw people to Himself and to His Church. Their gifts and talents will be joined with all of ours as together we take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our family, friends, strangers and even to the ends of the earth. Our growing list of faith formation programs (Alpha, Walking with Purpose, Catholicism 101, That Man Is You) is another sign of new life and deepening conversion for many of our parishioners. Our building project is yet another sign of new life in this parish. It signifies that Christ is very active in and among us, calling us to ever greater ministry and service. Love is never status quo it grows, and here at St. Catharine Christ s love is growing! As we hear in the second reading at Easter Day Mass (Colossians 3: 1-4): Brothers and sisters: If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory. This building project focuses on what is above building the Kingdom of Heaven and it helps bring that Kingdom to earth which is our call as Christ s disciples. To the nearly 200 of you who have joined us in making a pledge to our parish s For God s Glory Capital Campaign, we thank you; combined these pledges total nearly $5.5 million dollars! And to those of you who have not yet made your pledge, our campaign ambassadors look forward to meeting with you to receive your pledge. Please pledge generously as the Lord has given so generously to all of us. And please remember that there are many commemorative opportunities still available for your pledge to honor a loved one. Together, we will reach our $6.8 million dollar goal and accomplish this great adventure of faith. May our Blessed Mother and St. Catharine of Siena continue to intercede for our parish and for this campaign For God s Glory!
