They also spent several days in Mobile with Ashlynn and her parents, Jaime & Danny Christian. Cindy & Buddy Harris, Susie, Shaun & Dayton Sparks, and Leigh Ann, Mike, & Evan Walker spent a week with Mickey & Minnie at Disneyworld!, Nelda Williams had to go into the hospital for surgery resulting from injuries received in her recent car accident. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope she is back with us soon. Billie Brennan, Kathy Mason, Helen Gibson, Katie Wallace-Davis & Polly Bailey attended the CWF/DW annual fall retreat at Camp Chandler. Gordon Steward is recuperating at home after knee surgery and a heart procedure. He is mending well under the watchful eye of Muir! Bailey Farish had an extra special birthday present when she and her family travelled to Nashville for the Taylor Swift concert. Virgil Lewis notified the church office that his son-in-law, Lamar McElroy is doing well after kidney stone surgery. Ron & Brenda Montgomery attended the Dixie District Barbershop Singing Contest in Chattanooga, TN. Rosa & Steve Jennings spent a day in Meridian visiting with their son, Nathan, who lives in Hattiesburg. Congratulations to their son, Andrew, who recently received his diploma from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss!). Brenda Tanner s mother, Irene Hallman recently had surgery to remove a bone spur from her hip. George & Betty Welch are meeting new neighbors after their move to Hamrick Highlands Assisted Living. George was recently admitted to the hospital but we hope he is back at home soon. We have received word that Louise Scott is in the hospital. No other details at this printing. We are sorry to hear that Tom Geobel has had the flu for several days. Guess The monthly dinner for college students will be Tuesday, Oct. 4th at 5:30 p.m. in the Bowers Fellowship Hall. All students are invited. ********************** Because of the extensive needs in the Tuscaloosa community after the April tornado, our outreach efforts in the coming months will be focused locally. For this reason, we will not be participating in Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts as a congregation. However, if you would like to continue to participate individually, information can be found online at Northport Baptist Church will accept shoebox gifts the week of November from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

3 Our new Disciples Volunteering Mission Station Managers arrived at the end of September. Bill & Ruth Chesnut will be staying in the Hornback Disciples House for a few weeks in October. We will be hosting groups in Bowers Fellowship Hall the weeks of October 9th, and October 23. There are 2 game days in October. Please come join us for a little while on Saturdays at any time. Also, we need desserts to sell. Cakes, cookies, brownies, lemon squares, pecan squares, etc. items with NO icings (health department rules) that can be put in zip-lock bags easily are what we need. You don t have to cut or bag them we do it for you. Thanks for all your help on game days. The CWF will hold their Bake Sale on Saturday, N ovem ber 12 t h. Items for sale will be displayed in the Bowers Fellowship Hall. Cakes, pies, cookies, candies, breads, jellies & preserves and mixes are all good sellers. Please find your favorite recipes and start cooking! Start inviting your friends and remind them that this is a great opportunity to purchase goodies for the upcoming holiday season! ################# With the 3-digit temperatures during August, some of our fellow churches had these messages on their marquees: You think it s hot HERE! Next time you re looking for a place to get some good food, try one of these: during the week, please stop by the church office to register your vehicle and get a chalice decal.don t want you to get towed! Perfect stocking stuffers! If you need to park in the church lot It s that time once again! The choir just recently began rehearsals on the Christmas cantata Joy Has Dawned by Dennis & Nan Allen. It is a beautiful collection of songs: A few soft and sweet, one that sounds like a show-stopping Broadway number, and some praise songs you may recognize! Now is your chance to join the choir and sing along, even if just for the holiday season! Choir practice is Wednesday evenings, 7:00-8:30 PM, in the sanctuary. Come help us make a Joyful Noise!
