3 Light of Life Thanksgiving Baskets Every year Light of Life Volunteers put together Thanksgiving Baskets for those in the community who have the ability to cook food but don t necessarily have the financial resources to purchase the food. The goal this year is to put together 1,300 baskets! Join CLC to help buy 500 cans of turkey gravy. Please donate by making a check payable to Christ s Lutheran Church and marking Light of Life on your check or offering envelope, by using the CLC app, or through our Simply Giving Program. We will deliver the gravy by November 12 th. HELP US PACK THE BASKETS on Monday, November 19 th at the Light of Life Donation Center located at 635 Ridge Ave, Pgh, Please sign up on the sheet in the church entryway or Kris Meade at km.meade@verizon.net or call or text her at by Nov 12 Thank you for your support! Annual Congregational Christmas Party Date: Sunday, December 16 th, 2018 Time: 6:00 pm Place: Denunzio s Italian Restaurant Monroeville, PA Cost: $30.00 per person Please join us for an evening of good food and great fellowship. Everyone is welcome to attend. Our dinner will be buffet-style with rolls, coffee, tea, and dessert included. Please use the signup sheet in the entry-hallway to secure a reservation. We must have at least 30 people signed up and paid for by Friday, November 16 th, 2018 to reserve our space. Please make checks payable to Christ s Lutheran Church. Pick up a brochure in the church foyer, complete and return it to the labeled return box (in the main foyer). 2. Go to sarriscandiesfundraising.com to browse items and when ready to order, type in group ID number so our kids get credit. 3. Seek out one of the youth missionaries to place an order. You ll see them in the brightly colored yellow shirts at upcoming services, and their names and pictures are on the bulletin board in the foyer. 4. Our congregation has always generously supported this program. The children s name tags and signup sheet are located in the church entrance hall. Please attach tags to gifts. They would prefer the gifts to be unwrapped. If the gifts are wrapped, please write on the tag what is inside the package. This avoids duplication of gifts for the same child. Gifts must be brought in by Sunday, December 9th. Thank you for participating in this important ministry!

5 OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE It is time to, once again, gather together and assemble a team of Mission Partners to serve on next year s church council will bring about a change in direction for our leadership. We will be reducing the number of Council Members from 12 down to 9. We will be organizing as ministry teams and working to eliminate the individual committee assignment / responsibility. Our goal is to make it easier to serve the members of the congregation. We will need to fill three positions to have the 9 members we need for church council. I will be speaking about this in the coming weeks. Please give this some prayerful thought and if you are willing to step forward and help us with this important work, please let me know. YOUTH GROUP - CSFP Senior Food Box Packing with the Westmoreland County Community Food Bank will be on December 15 th. We will help to pack over 1,300 boxes for senior citizens (age 60 and over) in our community. Those attending should park on left side of building and enter through double green doors. Follow signs to registration area. No open-toed shoes are permitted and you must be 14 years of age to participate in the event. Remember to wear layers for a chilly warehouse! 8 Council Weekly Prayer Request The Church Council is asking you to pray that the Lord will stir our hearts and bless us as we reflect upon our budget for the coming year, and as we seek people who feel called by God to join others who are leading our congregation into the future. Pastor Wayne s Weekly Prayer Request Pastor Wayne asks you to pray for religious leaders in the Pittsburgh area who are continuing to gather with each other to discuss ways that we can continue to support the members of the Tree of Life synagogue and work together to foster new and deeper levels of understanding in our communities.
