1 14-13 Department of Louisiana American Legion Family Remembrance and Prayer Lists This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us whatever we ask we know that we have what we asked of Him. (1 John 5:14-15) God reads the prayers of our heart even before they have been formed into words or vocalized by our mouth. Sick List For those who are having medical difficulties who are receptive to prayer offered on their behalf, let us continue to lift their names in prayer: 1

2 Prayer For The Ill God, hear our prayers, and let our cries come to You. Do not hide from us in the day of our distress. Turn to us and speedily answer our prayers. Eternal God, source of healing, out of our distress we call upon You. Help us sense Your presence at this difficult time. Grant us patience when the hours are heavy; in hurt or disappointment, give us courage. Keep us trustful in Your love. Give us strength for today, and hope for tomorrow. To your loving hands we commit my spirit. When asleep and when awake, You are with us; we shall not fear. 6 For The Bereaved O Lord our comfort and help in time of need. You have taught us that nothing can separate us from Your love, and that all souls are Yours. Grant that we may understand that as we draw nearer to You in faith and lobe, we draw nearer to all those dear to us who live in Your heavenly kingdom. Grant also that we may be uplifted from our sorrow, so that we may more faithfully serve You and more effectively honor the memory of our friends who are now departed. Amen 6

7 Deployed Military SSgt Roy Loran, USAF (Qatar) (Son of Jackey Loran, Adjutant Post 450) Cmd. Sgt Maj. Carl Bellard, USA (Ft Hood Afghanistan) (Brother of Emma Simons, Lake Charles Unit 551) For Our Military And For All Who Serve Almighty Father, we thank you for so many things, above all our great United States and Your spiritual blessings. Help us not to take them for granted. Many of our men and women have sacrificed their lives and their health to preserve the freedoms of our nation. May their efforts not have been in vain. And they continue to serve. We ask your blessing on them and the many loved ones from whom they are separated when they are sent to dangerous paths around the world. Help us to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for and to praise You daily in our prayers for being so good to all of us. Amen 7

8 In Your Darkest Hour In your darkest hour where is it do you flee Running scared, not knowing where to go for sympathy. Why have your abandoned me, how long, O Lord, I cry As tears are accompanied with deep sobs and wrenching sighs The emptiness ad loneliness is much, to much to bear Feeling pity for yourself with thoughts that no one really cares Your light is then extinguished, as you grope amidst the night Your direction is distorted not knowing what is right And then your eyes are lifted to a cross made from a tree As there a Man is hanging cause of sins from you and me He is the perfect sacrifice the perfect Lamb, you see Who gave is life so that we may live with him eternally They you feel the Spirit filled with power and with love Ant the strength that s sent to you form our God above You know then - He never left - It was you who lost His sight As He waited patiently for your light to once again shine bight Come let us bow in worship, let us kneel before the Lord And put aside our violent, or strife and all discord May your faith be strong enough, to thank Him for this test With hopes that you have proved to Him, You ve done your very best And when this trial is over and your faith has been increased The spirit that dwells in you, at last can be released You are the light of the world. (Matthews 5:14) (This poem was written by Carolyn Bourgeois and is included in her book Heavenly Sent Words. Carolyn is a Raceland, La. resident. The poem is typed as it appears in the book) 8
