BELINDA HERRING MAR. 8 A.M CARLA DRUMM BETH HARWELL P.M.JUANITA VILLANI Gentlemen: If you are unable to serve, call Mike Satterfield at (404) or the office (770) Nursery call the office MACLAND S PROGRESS: WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASS One of my favorite times of each week is ten o clock on Wednesday mornings, when I meet for an hour of Bible study and coffee with a group of Christians who come hungry for the Word of God. The kind of study in which we engage is too infrequently done nowadays. It s a verse-by-verse exposition and application of the text. In this case, our text is the book of Genesis. We think carefully about every verse and even focus on particular words and phrases. It s a structured roundtable discussion, so anyone can ask any question about the text or make any comment about what the text teaches us today. The environment is very friendly and yet focused. We open with a prayer especially designed to help those who are struggling, and then we delve into the text. We move slowly, drinking in the details. When we meet this coming Wednesday, March 4th, we will be studying from Genesis 27:5-10. If you have been meaning to do better about Bible study, then participating in our Wednesday morning class would be a great start. The account of Jacob and Esau is one of the most intriguing in all of the Bible. It s also important to study Genesis, for if one lacks an understanding of the book of Genesis, much of the rest of the Bible will not make sense. Have you considered the lessons available from the lives of those living in the patriarchal age of biblical history? A few of the themes we have explored in our discussion of Genesis are: The role of angels. Polygamy. Covenants between God and men. (over)

2 2 P a g e Godly parent/child relationships. Servanthood in the life of a follower of God. Marriage and inheritance practices. Providence in the lives of God s servants. The biblical approach to meditation. God s attitude toward disadvantaged groups. Honesty and lying. God s lordship over nations. Someone once said that the Bible is full of dry-as-dust discourse (Dennis McKinsey, The Encyclopedia of Biblical Errancy, p. 71). But our students in the Wednesday morning class are learning that such a remark coveys the farthest thing from the truth. Why not join us this coming Wednesday? Smiling faces will greet you. PRAYER REQUEST: Katherine Sorensen has been admitted to Kennestone Hospital. Tests are being conducted to determine the cause of her fast heart rate. Her room number is B747. Brad Jordan has been diagnosed with cellulitis. He is at home, on medication and in a lot of pain. Dana Stanley had a successful outpatient surgical procedure last Wednesday. She will have results soon, and requests prayer that they will have good reports. Marc s grandmother, Inez Little, passed away last week. The visitation and funeral were Saturday (yesterday) in Mississippi. Thanks also for the beautiful flowers that were sent. Gene & Corene Curtis Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Thank you so much for celebrating my 70th birthday with our family. We are still enjoying the many creative 70 s thoughts which you offered. Now that I have so many marbles in my life, things are looking up. Also, thank you for your concern about my recent surgery. The prayers, calls, visits, cards, and food are helping me to regain my strength. I hope to be back soon to worship with you. VISITATION MEETING Contact Group 2, Group Coordinator: Larry Jordan, will meet for a few minutes in the LADIES CLASSROOM immediately after evening services today. NEW CLASS This class is to be the spiritual work of grounding believers deeper in the faith.col:1:28 & 29. Many that I have talked to about their salvation, still have moments when they fear or doubt that they can defend their faith against error. We want to assure the Christian that they don't need to entertain fear in their lives, to know what they believe & why. This class will begin next Sunday, March 1. A 13 lesson book providing down to earth advice for developing a loving, God shaped heart. Hope to see in Sunday morning class! Please take a moment to encourage these teachers for their dedication to our children's education. Attention teachers, students, and parents: Students should not bring electronic devices into the classroom during class time unless medically necessary. This includes phones and tablets. Bibles are available in the classroom for use. Also, please refrain from bringing meals into the classroom and eating them during class time. Please discard any trash that is food related in the Fellowship Hall trash cans. A card, a pat on the back or just a chat will do so much to encourage these young people. The mentoring buckets can be found on the wall past the ladies restroom. They are red and black and you can t miss them. They aren t real big and if you should get something too large to fit in, please put it on one of the tables near the buckets with the L2L s name on it. Leaders and leaderettes remember to check the tables once in a while. MARRIAGE AND PARENTING SEMINAR The Seminar is fast approaching. There are flyers on the tables in the foyer for the marriage seminar to be held here on March Glenn and Cindy Colley will be conducting the seminar. Take as many as you need for family and friends or to post in a business you may frequent. Lunch will be served and there is a signup sheet on the bulletin board. GOLDEN AGERS TUESDAY, MARCH 17 TH For the March Golden Agers get together the gentlemen are cooking breakfast for supper. What a treat. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 5 P.M. and enjoy not only a great meal but a fun time together. Money will be collected at the door for the food. Note the date and time change. CONGREGATION SOUP/CHILI AND GAME NIGHT FELLOWSHIP On Saturday, March 28 th the place to be is in the fellowship hall for a night of soup/chili, games and karaoke. Bring soup or chili, sides of choice, drinks and desserts, games, and musical instruments. Karaoke will be provided. Fun for all ages is planned. I will begin at 5 pm and last til 10 pm. A signup sheet is on the bulletin board. WETOGA SUMMER CAMP It is that time of year again. Dana Stanley s friend from Atlanta Road Church of Christ, Peggy Garner, is collecting items for summer camp. This year Peggy needs pieces of cardboard for camp. Cardboard from flats of water is good or paper box lids. She also needs canning jar rings regular size. Not the disc part but the ring part. These may be given to Dana or put on the table in the foyer that she uses for Card Cards; the one near the water fountain.
