1 Our History: July 17, 2016 SAVAGE STREET Church of Christ Caution: Fuzzy Words Ahead! By Creation Moments Psalm 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Science textbooks, articles and documentaries about evolution are saturated with what creationist Mike Riddle calls fuzzy words. These are words that evolutionists typically use when they have no observable evidence to support their claims. With that as a backdrop, today s broadcast will train you to spot fuzzy words and phrases. In a recent issue of Science News magazine, for example, we find the first fuzzy words in the article s title: Bubbles may have sheltered early life. Did you spot it? Yes, it s the phrase may have. In the second paragraph, we read: Such a snug hideout could have shielded The Savage Street Church of Christ began on March 4, 1923 at 6th and H Streets. After sometime on Evelyn Street, we moved to our present location on March 20, 1960 microbes from ultraviolet radiation. Right the words could have. In the next paragraph, a geologist is quoted as saying that the work is very plausible another way of getting you to accept the scientist s wishful thinking. In the remaining paragraphs, we find two more could haves, a may have, a perhaps, a might have and two instances of appeared to be. The writer then concludes with these words: If microbes survived in these pockets on early Earth, they could potentially have done so on other planets such as Mars. I hope that the words if and potentially set off the critical thinking alarm bells in your brain. I m so glad that the Bible avoids fuzzy words and phrases, aren t you? The Bible doesn t try to trick or deceive us. Its words are true because its Author is Truth and His words endure forever.

How can you help? The 21 st : Potluck

3 Vacation Bible School Helpers Needed!!! It's only 1 month until VBS and we need LOTS of helpers! Family Leaders: We need about of these. This is one of the most important roles. You will have your own group of multi-aged kids and rotate with them throughout each night of VBS. You would need to be present EVERY night of VBS, be friendly, and get to know the kids. You also will have a small segment of time in which to follow through a guided lesson on paper. It's all pre-planned and PACKETS regarding Family Leader roles are available at the back table for your perusal. Registrars at Registration Table: We need approximately 2 people to staff our registration table. You must be present each night. Name tags are supplied this year by the Metro Church of Christ, and so the job is a bit less than normal. Cleaning Crew: This can be a crew of 1-2 people who are willing each evening to vacuum, spot clean, tidy the kitchen, and take out the trash. Our entire VBS this year will be confined to the fellowship hall, front yard, and parking lot. Teacher/Child Watcher for our Wee-Ones: We have approximately 4-5 children aged 1-3 who are too young for our VBS, but whose parents are heavily involved. This is a VERY IMPORTANT role, which absolutely must be filled. You would be crowned a Saint for taking on this role. It would be every night (or can be shared by multiple members). Vendors in our Egyptian Marketplace: Do you have a special skill? Could you teach pottery? Jewelry? Wood-crafting of mini pyramids? Something else? Get creative! This role would not necessarily have to be every night. If you only have 1 night or 2 to volunteer, consider running a marketplace booth. Doug the Dog Helpers: We need 2 people to help operate the Doug Puppet with Mikey Crisp in the Egyptian Marketplace. Yes, Doug is part-egyptian! YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT?

4 More Needs... The roles on the other side of this page are the LIVE roles for VBS. But, we have other needs too! We are in need of: awnings, baskets of all shapes & sizes, curtains & scarves solid in color or Egyptian looking design. For now, these items can be placed in the spare office (Nathan's old office). We also are in need of LOTS of people to provide potluck dishes for a potluck immediately following MORNING worship on August 7 th. We'll need MORE food than normal, so even if you don't normally stay for Potluck, consider if you could leave a dish of some kind. We are also in need of LIVE animals. We'd love to have a different animal each night. Think: Cat, chicken, sheep, goat, etc. Do you have an animal you could bring for 1 night? We are also in need of monetary donations for our snacks! We will be serving up Egyptian style snacks in the outdoor marketplace, so no traditional cookies this year. In order to ease the snack process, we would appreciate monetary donations toward snacks this year and Andrea Crisp will buy it all at the same time. A donation jar is on the VBS table in the back. If you have any questions about how to be involved in this year's VBS, please chat with Andrea Crisp. Our goal this year is for EVERY MEMBER to be involved in some way with our Vacation Bible School!
