2 Come, let us welcome the Shabbat. May its joy, peace and rest illumine our hearts and cleanse our minds from the worries of the week. In honor of our sacred tradition that hallows and unites Yisra el in all lands and through all ages, by causing us to remember and observe, we kindle the lights of Shabbat. May our home be filled with the light of Your presence, the joy of Your salvation and Your Shabbat rest. May Your Name ever be blessed in this home. May each one here be filled with the light of Yeshua, and may we fulfill Your command to be a light to the nations. Remember the day of Shabbat by keeping it holy. 3 If you keep your feet from breaking the Shabbat and from doing as you please on My Holy Day, if you call the Shabbat a delight and the Lord s Holy Day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in Adonai, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and feast on the inheritance of your father, Ya akov. 5 Eishet Chayil l i g z W ` A woman of valor Who can find a capable wife? Her value is far beyond that of pearls. Her husband trusts her from his heart, and she will prove a great asset to him. She works to bring him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She is like those merchant vessels, bringing her food from far away. It s still dark when she rises to give food to her household and orders to the young women serving her. She considers a field, then buys it, and from her earnings she plants a vineyard. She gathers her strength around her and throws herself into her work. She sees that her business affairs go well; her lamp stays lit at night. She puts her hand to the staff with the flax; her fingers hold the spinning rod. She reaches out to embrace the poor and opens her arms to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household, since all of them are doubly clothed. She makes her own quilts; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is known at the city gates when he sits with the leaders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them; she supplies merchants with sashes. Clothed with strength and dignity, she can laugh at the days to come. When she opens her mouth, she speaks wisely; on her tongue is loving instruction. She watches how things go in her house, not eating the bread of idleness. Her children arise; they make her happy; her husband too, as he praises her: Many women have done wonderful things, but you surpass them all! Charm can lie, beauty can vanish, but a woman who fears Adonai should be praised. Give her a share in what she produces; let her works speak her praises at the city gates. His descendants will be powerful on the earth, a blessed generation of upright people. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness stands forever. To the upright he shines like a light in the dark, merciful, compassionate and righteous. Things go well with the person who is merciful and lends, who conducts his affairs with fairness; for he will never be moved. The righteous will be remembered forever. Then was it said among the nations: God has done great things for them. Truly, God has done great things for us, and we rejoiced. Bring us from exile, God, as the streams return to the Negev; those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. Those who go out weeping, bearing sacks of seeds, shall return with joy, bearing their sheaves. He gives food to all creatures, for His mercy is everlasting. Through His abundant goodness we have not lacked sustenance, and may we not lack sustenance forever, for the sake of His great Name.
