Invaluable Treasures from Ayat Al Kursi 9 th October 2018 Sister Eman al Obaid This is the greatest ayah in the Qur an. There is nothing better before it and nothing better after it. It is KalamAllah. May Allah swt forgive us for our sins and make us worthy to receive the greatest ayah in the Qur an. Ameen. The Qur an is the word of Allah swt. Allah swt is the One you cannot encompass. The One full of honour, majesty and beauty. Nobody can be like Allah swt. It is a huge honour when Allah swt invites you to listen to His words. You are invited and you are welcomed. Something unseen is welcoming you which is more grand. The angels are welcoming you in the Study Circle. Allah swt loves those places and Allah swt allows His name to be exalted. This is why Allah swt brings the angels to the places of the gatherings. Chapter (39) sūrat l-zumar (The Groups) 39:75 And you will see the angels surrounding the Throne, exalting [Allah] with praise of their Lord. And it will be judged between them in truth, and it will be said, "[All] praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds." You have your life You have the guidance You have the choice What a loss it is in this life when I m not getting the best thing in this life which is knowing Allah swt. It is a Royal & Grand gathering when you are listening to KalamAllah and the angels are surrounding you. And you will see the angels surrounding the Throne In this life the angels surround the study circles. Why do the angels surround the study circles? Because we are gathered: We want to know Allah swt We want Allah swt to be pleased with us We want Allah swt to love us We go through so many difficulties in our life but the best and the sweetest pleasure is by knowing Allah swt. The angels are talking about Allah swt. And Allah swt honoured the study circles because we are talking about Allah swt. Talking about His beauty, His majesty, and His greatness because what is suiting us is to humble ourselves and to humiliate ourselves before the Majesty of Allah swt. Surat al Zumar You will not appreciate Ayat ul Kursi unless you go through Surat al Zumar. Ayat ul Kursi is actually a journey from Surat al Fatihah to Ayat ul Kursi, but it needs to be a journey. You are either on the journey from the beginning: ALHAMDULILLAH Allah swt prolonged my life to enjoy all the beauty of Surat al Baqarah until I reach Ayat ul Kursi. 1

Or you have just joined: ALHAMDULILLAH, you came at the right time! You can now catch up from the greatest ayah. Everyone is welcome. You are in a Royal Gathering. No one is like Allah swt with the most perfect perfections and beauty which you cannot encompass. Allah swt surrounds you, surrounds you in place and position even though He rose over the Throne in a manner suiting His Majesty. Surat al Zumar is the key to start our journey to Ayat ul Kursi. Ayat ul Kursi needs PREPARATION; it needs us to ask Allah swt to FORGIVE us for our sins, it needs reciting. The sins will be an obstacle to understanding, to grasping and to getting to know Ayat ul Kursi. We maybe full of sins but Allah swt is welcoming you. AlhamduliLlahi Rabbil Alameen, Allah swt invites you and welcomes you to listen. We need to make TAWBAH to Allah swt to obtain the honour to understand the Great Speech of the Qur an. We need to clean ourselves, inside and outside. We need to beautify ourselves and then we need to surrender and submit ourselves to Allah swt. We want the adornments which beautify us, which is the submission to Allah swt; your sincerity, your perfection and your excellence. But someone may say I cannot wear that jewellery, how can I be invited to something so great, but you can because Allah swt is the Creator of Everything and Allah swt can bring life to the dead. So for sure Allah swt can adorn you. For sure Allah swt will forgive you for your sins. Allah swt is in charge of everything. Trust Allah swt because Allah swt invites you and Allah swt welcomes you, so you are the most welcomed. After the purification and after the beautification you will understand Who is Allah swt. Once you know just a little bit how the Royal Gathering will be on the DAY OF JUDGEMENT you will want more of that feeling. When the Day of Judgement starts, when it will glow and shine by the Light of Allah swt; it will be dark but Allah swt will appear by His Light to all the creation. This is for the recompense but still yet no one knows Allah swt, no one saw Allah swt. When Allah swt brings the Day of Judgement this is a Grand Opening. Imagine, everything is dark when you don t have the glow of knowing Allah swt, we want to get that light. On the Day of Judgement: when the Light of Allah swt will really shine the books will be placed in our hand all the Messengers and all the witnesses will come and Allah swt will judge between them. 39:71 And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers will say, "Did there not come to you messengers from yourselves, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "Yes, but the word of punishment has come into effect upon the disbelievers. Everything you do in this life will be translated on the Day of Judgement so we need to prepare for the Grand Opening. The sinners and disbelievers, they will be dealt with justice. Those who were good, Allah swt will deal with them with His Bounty, His Generosity & His Favours. No one will be treated unfairly on the Day of Judgement. 39:72 [To them] it will be said, "Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant." The people of Hellfire will be taken to Hellfire. The people of Paradise will taken in delegations, honoured and welcomed at the gates of Paradise waiting to enter. There is no waiting at the gate of Hellfire as it is open so there is no honour. 39:73 But those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups until, when they reach it while its gates have been opened and its keepers say, "Peace be upon you; you have become pure; so enter it to abide eternally therein," [they will enter]. 2

Imagine what an honour when you are waiting to listen to KalamAllah because the people of Paradise will be waiting at the gates of Paradise. This is our goal. The doors will be slowly opened, and this represents all our work and belief in this life to go to Paradise. The keepers of Paradise will welcome them and this is a Royal Gathering. The angels and the Keepers of Paradise will welcome you. The angels will welcome you and say salāmun ʿalaykum ; you have been saved, you have now reached your destination. You are now purified and beautified so now you can come into Paradise. To go to Paradise you have to be Royal which is by believing in Allah swt, asking for forgiveness, when you are ihsan, when you worship Allah swt as if you see Allah swt. The unseen matter, you don t see them with your eyes but you see them with your heart. This makes you so happy that nothing can disturb this happiness. Then what will the people of Paradise say? 39:74 And they will say, "Praise to Allah, who has fulfilled for us His promise and made us inherit the earth [so] we may settle in Paradise wherever we will. And excellent is the reward of [righteous] workers." They praised Allah swt because: Allah swt beautified the faith in their hearts Allah swt introduced them to the knowledge Allah swt sowed the seeds of seeking repentance and doing good Allah huwa Al Awwal (The First) & Al Akhir (The Last). They praised Allah swt because Allah swt fulfilled His promise. Anyone in life, whatever they promised you they cannot fulfil their promise. But Allah swt will fulfil His Promise for which you need to say AlhamduliLlah. In life, when you know Allah swt your life will not be restricted, you will find vastness. Knowing Allah swt makes you to fly, you will be a free person; you will not be chained. When you don t know Allah swt the vastness of the Earth is restricted, no matter how much you travel on this earth because you don t know Allah swt. In Paradise you will go wherever you wish, nothing is forbidden. 39:75 And you will see the angels surrounding the Throne, exalting [Allah] with praise of their Lord. And it will be judged between them in truth, and it will be said, "[All] praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds." His Throne The Kursi is a creation of Allah swt, full of majesty and beauty. The Throne The Arsh is the Throne of Allah swt, full of beauty and majesty. Allah swt rose over the Throne in manner suiting His Majesty. Allah swt is not with us physically, but Allah swt is with us by knowledge, by seeing and by hearing. Allah swt rose over the Throne in a faraway place yet Allah swt is the closest One. This is the Arsh, so grand and so big. In the dunya the angels surround the Study Circle and on the Day of Judgement the angels will surround the Throne of Allah swt. What will make you to know about Allah swt kursi and Allah swt arsh and about Allah swt? When you talk about Allah swt. 3

Glorifying praise - This ibadah of the Malaika, they will have it in this life and it will remain with them forever. This glorification will remain in Paradise praising Allah swt with all the Praises. the Day of Judgement? "[All] praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds." - This is our start, preparing our hearts for something great. What am I supposed to do? What is the grand scheme on What is left in the end for the angels and the people? Subhana Allah wal hamdi & AlhamduliLlah. Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow) 2:254 O you who have believed, spend from that which We have provided for you before there comes a Day in which there is no exchange and no friendship and no intercession. And the disbelievers - they are the wrongdoers. 2:255 Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. 2:256 There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing. What attracts you to Ayat ul Kursi? The most common answer is that it is Ayat ul Kursi or I read it all the time or it is a ruqayah, a protection. Most people only read Ayat ul Kursi for the treatment of the sicknesses but it is more than this. Ayat ul kursi is not only because I need something. Today we will learn about Ayat ul kursi because: I love of Allah swt I want to remember Allah swt Allah swt magnified this ayah in the Qur an so it is really being magnified We need to really listen to Ayat ul kursi because we want to magnify Allah swt and not because I want something for myself or just to know about Ayat ul kursi. What is your motive? We should all have the same motive we want to exalt Allah swt. 4

Allah al Azeem magnifies whatever He wants to magnify. Our goal is to magnify Allah swt. Ayat ul Kursi is magnified by Allah swt so we want to magnify Allah swt by magnifying this ayah. Ideas & misconceptions of the religion One of the misconceptions about the religion is that religion is forced upon the people and it forces you to do certain things. However, the religion is against compulsion and forcing people. Religion is that you be convinced, you listen and you think so that step by step the truth is made clear to you. Falsehood is what is actually forced on the people because there is no evidence, there is no background and no roots. People are invited to the falsehood and the problem is that people create falsehood in the religion. But if something is very convincing and very clear you don t need anybody to force you. 2:256 There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. You listen, when convinced you will follow. If Allah swt doesn t force people then why do we force the people. Allah swt rose over the Throne and in His Hands is everything, yet He is not forcing the people. How will you do anything when you are forced in the religion? I will not be happy and I will add difficulties in following the religion. Allah swt said there will be no compulsion in the religion to protect anyone from being forced in the religion. Forcing people in the religion is not the right way. Everyone will progress in the religion in their own time. Ayat ul Kursi shows you the criterion of the guidance, what is right and what is wrong, so it easy for you to make decisions in your life. This is before Ayat ul Kursi and what we must learn from Ayat ul Kursi is that there is no compulsion in the religion. What comes before Ayatul Kursi? 2:254 O you who have believed, spend Before I come to Ayat ul Kursi I need to remove any bad feelings, any kind of jealousy or greed. A greedy person will not go to Ayat ul Kursi. When you give, when you do the best it is purifying you. The nafaqa (spending) is different from the one who is selfish and the one who is only wanting for themselves. Purification is required before you go to Ayat ul Kursi. The spending can even be a smile. THE SAHABAH One of the sahabah dedicated himself to learning and teaching after the death of the Prophet saws. He narrated 2 exclusive hadith about Ayat ul Kursi which only he heard. It was narrated from Abd-Allaah ibn Ubayy ibn Ka b that his father told him that he had a vessel in which he kept dates. He used to check on it and found that the number was decreasing. So he kept guard on it one night and saw a beast that looked like an adolescent boy. He said: I greeted him with salaams and he returned my greeting, then I asked him, What are you, a jinn or a human? He said, A jinn. I said to him, Show me your hand. So he showed me his hand, and it looked like a dog s paw with dog s fur. I said, Do all the jinn look like this? He said, I know no one among the jinn who is stronger than I. I said, What made you do what you did [i.e., taking the dates]? He said, We heard that you are a man who loves charity, and we wanted to have some of your food. Ubayy asked him, What will protect us from you? He said, This aayah, Aayatal-Kursiy. Then the next day he [Ubayy] went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and told him (about what had happened) and he said, The evil one spoke the truth. Once Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) asked Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka b (radiyallahu anhu): Do you know which is the greatest verse in the Qur an? He replied, Allah and His Rasul (sallallahu alayhi 5

wasallam) know best. Thereafter, Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) repeated the question, so Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka b (radiyallahu anhu) replied, Allahu la ilaha illa huwal yahhul qayyum. Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) tapped his chest (affectionately) and said, May you be congratulated on your knowledge. At the time the Sahabah didn t know the title of Ayat ul Kursi before this hadith. May you be congratulated on your knowledge. - Allah swt will open the knowledge for you which will be a pleasure for you. Ayat ul Kursi is the key to opening the knowledge for you. Your entertainment and pleasure will be from the knowledge. O Abu Al-Mundhir! By He in Whose Hand is my soul! This Ayah has a tongue and two lips with which she praises the King (Allah) next to the leg of the Throne. This ayah is talking which is unseen ascribing purity and magnifying Allah swt. The place of Ayat ul Kursi is holding onto the Throne so that is why we continuously repeat Ayat ul Kursi: After every obligatory prayer; a pass to Paradise Before you sleep; protection against shaitan Morning and evening supplications Ruquyah This ayah is magnifying Allah swt as if it is talking about Allah swt by the Throne of Allah swt. Step by step Ayat ul Kursi is showing you the guidance it is a process of gaining knowledge and learning with the goal of magnifying Allah swt. The Process of Ayat ul Kursi Ayat ul Kursi is all about Allah swt for you to magnify Allah swt. There is no compulsion in the religion. Allah swt named Himself and identified Himself through the Messengers with the name Allah. Allah is the first name Allah swt used to identify Himself. It is also the most used name in the Qur an; more than 2000 times. 6

MEANING First we need to look at our nature as human beings. What is common amongst all of us? We want to live. How do we want to live? We want something to attach, to love. No matter who we are, we want the attachment. In life we want to attach to something which we think is perfect. This means we love the perfection something holy, respectful and perfect. All the Names of Allah swt fulfil this inner need within ourselves. You will find the solution to your needs with Allah swt. Everyone needs to be taught about Allah swt. Allah means: All the perfection is due to Allah swt All the praise is due to Allah swt All the beauty is due to Allah swt Allah swt is worthy of all the attachments. No one is like Allah swt. No one else in this life can accommodate us forever. Allah swt is the solution for everybody to fulfil the need for the attachment and to fulfil our needs in all matters. Allah swt doesn t need anything from you, you are in need of Allah swt. You need to magnify Allah swt and recite Ayat al Kursi because there is nobody like Allah swt. The numbers, the calculations, time itself cannot grasp how Allah swt is. Allah swt is above our praises and out talking about Him. Allah swt is the only One praising Himself with what suits Him. No one can praise Allah swt with what suits Him but we need to praise Allah swt. When you attach to Allah swt He does not need this attachment but you need this attachment. This is Allah swt. Knowing about Allah swt makes you to feel so humble and so humiliated. You really feel you are disabled, you really feel you are guided and you need the most holy and the most pure which is Allah swt. To know Allah swt is to feel that I am nothing. For example one woman was researching the Qur an in order to attack the Qur an. During her research she became an authority on the Qur an but she was not a believer. She stated that the Qur an was not the language of any human as it has no end. The speech of humans has an end. The Qur an is a book of endless dimensions. We get bored and tired. Allah swt is more than this. Every time we sin and we go back to Allah swt, Allah swt will accept us. When you make du a Allah swt will not leave you until you leave Allah swt. When you stand in the prayer and say Allahu Akbar Allah swt will come in front of your face. Allah is the Most Rich. When you stop talking about Allah swt He will not talk about you. As long as you remember Allah swt He will remember you. Nobody is alike Allah swt, which no one can grasp. We can only drown in His love, in His beauty and in His majesty. The loss in this life is when we tasted all the pleasure and all the delights of this life but we didn t taste the pleasures of knowing Allah swt. You know about all the things in this life but you didn t know about Allah swt. You gave so much time to yourself but you didn t give time to remember Allah swt. But still Allah swt will accommodate you and Allah swt will provide for you. Everybody humbles themselves to Allah swt because there is no one like Allah swt. Who is Allah swt? none has the right to be worshipped. 7

You will begin the journey with the purification: the negation La ilaha and the confirmation illalla When you want to learn about Ayat al Kursi you need to clear yourself and remove your attachments to your husband, to your children, to your work; remove your excessive love, excessive worry and focus around the people you put on a platform. You need to clear your mind to receive the most precious things. No one is worthy of attachment or to be idolized except Allah swt. You need to remove all the idols. You might think because you are a Muslim you don t have any idols. Idols are those whom you idolize with love; you are happy when they give you any attention; you are extremely sad when they turn away from you. Allah swt is the Most Rich from being associated with any another partner. Allah swt will not accept you thinking about Him and at the same thinking about somebody else. Allah swt will not accept you loving someone else too much. Allah swt wants our hearts to be exclusively for Him because you are special. Allah swt created your heart to be attached to Him. Break all the idols in your life because Allah swt will not accept this from you. You need to really magnify Allah swt by not letting anyone else disturb you. All the attachments rather than Allah swt make us to be disturbed. What causes blood pressure, stress, anxiety and tension? Our attachments to anyone other than Allah swt. Hadith: The one who attaches to anything other than Allah swt, they will be tortured by it. You will not feel any pain in this life if you are not obsessed with someone in this life, when you don t have too much of everything. All the pain and sicknesses are because of the shirk. I want to go the King. But imagine if you go to the King and you are not focused, you are looking left and right. Why do we have attachments? Human beings want their attachments to be tangible, something big and grand. But you need to attach to Allah swt, the unseen, even though you see so much beauty and perfection around you. Illahu is Allah swt being the only One worthy of your: worship attachments focus attention remembrance praise Only Allah swt is deserving all this. We get so distracted in our life time by the people in our lives, first by our mothers, then by our siblings, our teachers, our husband and then our children. In the relationships in our life they will leave and you will leave. They will change and you will change. They hate I love. I hate they love. Which relationship in our life is the strongest? When we focus on people our emotions become unstable. We want to feel that attachment which is embedded within us and that is with Allah swt. 8

The Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all that exists. Al Hayy Al Qayum are the means which will give you the security in this life. These are the first 2 Names of Allah mentioned after Allah. Only attach to Allah swt, never attach to anyone else, He is Al Hayy the Ever-Living never dies. Imagine if you attach to someone who will die, they will die and you will also die. You will see that when someone dies some people will kill themselves or burn themselves. If someone dies it doesn t mean I need to die. If someone has a problem, I don t need to have a problem. This kind of attachment to someone makes you want to do what they do. For example our hearts can attach to the smallest of things like our mobile phones. Anybody rather than Allah swt has an expiry date. The BALANCE in life is death and the imperfections in people. Imagine, if everyone did not die. The barriers between the people would be greater. The ones sinning would continue to sin until the Day of Judgement. Don t attach to something which will die. Our death is written in the Preserved Tablet, so death is a blessing. Don t be attached to death but attach to Allah swt. If I attach to someone who is not perfect, they will not fulfil all my needs. They don t know what I go through. I panic if they travel, if they sleep, when they are out of reach when I call them. Allah huwa Al Hayy so your attachment needs to be only to Allah swt, He will live forever. Our lives are imperfect Our lives have a start and an end I cannot depend on someone who will die. If you want a perfect life, a living life believe in Allah swt Al Hayy, He will give you a good and perfect life. Allah swt is always available. You always feel good even when something in your life is imperfect, you never feel afraid or restless. Anything can make you to die and at any time. Allah swt is Ever-Living and never dies. Chapter (25) sūrat l-fur'qān (The Criterion) 25:58 And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and exalt [Allah] with His praise. And sufficient is He to be, with the sins of His servants, Acquainted - Rely on someone Who is Al Hayy. This will make you to invoke Allah swt alone. All your deeds done for Allah swt will remain. Deeds done for the people will die. Al Qayyum the Self Sufficient Master; the One Who established Himself and makes your life upright. Allah swt takes care of you. Allah swt establishes your life, Allah swt is taking care of you during the night turning your body; operating all your bodily functions. Allah swt makes every one s life to be established. Everything will be done, everything will be in its place and efficient. Allah swt is in charge of making everything in your life upright. Narrated 'Ali: Fatima complained of what she suffered from the hand mill and from grinding, when she got the news that some slave girls of the booty had been brought to Allah's Apostle. She went to him to ask for a maid-servant, but she could not find him, and told 'Aisha of her need. 9

When the Prophet came, Aisha informed him of that. The Prophet came to our house when we had gone to our beds. (On seeing the Prophet) we were going to get up, but he said, 'Keep at your places,' I felt the coolness of the Prophet's feet on my chest. Then he said, "Shall I tell you a thing which is better than what you asked me for? When you go to your beds, say: 'Allahu Akbar (i.e. Allah is Greater)' for 34 times, and 'Alhamdu Lillah (i.e. all the praises are for Allah)' for 33 times, and Subhan Allah (i.e. Glorified be Allah) for 33 times. This is better for you than what you have requested." If you feel you that your life is a mess, that you are always running out of time, believe in Allah Al Qayyum; depend only on Allah swt. Al Qayyum will solve all your anxieties and worries when you recite the following supplication morning and evening. To be self-confident can destroy everything. Your confidence should be with Al Hayy Al Qayyum. I am not perfect, I cannot be everywhere, I cannot do everything and I don t know about everything. Believing in Allah swt Al Hayy Al Qayyum will give you so much contentment. We magnify Allah with Ayat al Kursi. We should attach to Allah swt because nobody else can help you, support you or know about you. Chapter (55) sūrat l-raḥmān (The Most Gracious) 55:1 The Most Merciful 55:2 Taught the Qur'an, 55:3 Created man, 55:4 [And] taught him eloquence. 55:5 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 55:6 And the stars and trees prostrate. 55:7 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 55:8 That you not transgress within the balance. 55:9 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. Surat Ar Rahman is about the balance. 55:10 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 55:11 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 55:12 And grain having husks and scented plants. 55:13 So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny? 55:14 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 55:15 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 55:16 So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny? 55:17 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 55:18 So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny? 10

55:19 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 55:20 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 55:21 So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny? 55:22 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 55:23 So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny? 55:24 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 55:25 So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny? After mentioning all the mercies of Allah swt we find in the universe, which will all die, what will remain? 55:26 Everyone upon the earth will perish, 55:27 And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honour. 55:28 So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny? Allah swt Face is a personal attribute full of Greatness and Majesty, so you do your deeds for the Sake of Allah swt. Allah swt is taking care of you without you even asking. 55:29 Whoever is within the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is bringing about a matter. 55:30 So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny? Everything in the Universe is asking Allah swt about things which they already know, but Allah swt taking care of you does not depend on what you know. Allah swt is the King of the Kings, the Ruler of the Rulers and He never takes a break from taking care of His creation whether you ask or you don t ask. Hadith: Allah swt does not sleep You feel attached to Allah swt and in a safe place. The confirmation of that attachment is that Allah swt will not discontinue from you; He will never leave you unless you leave Him. Sleep can overpower us and we cannot defeat the sleep. But the sleep does not overtake Allah swt, so no one can overtake Allah swt the Most Great. Allah swt will not detach from you in any situation. Sleep is an imperfect attribute which we need, but Allah swt does not need the sleep or to rest. It is not suiting Allah swt to sleep. Allah swt is available at all times which is the security. Allah swt is disposing of your affairs and waiting for your supplications. Allah swt is taking care of even the disbelievers. We humans would not take care of someone who doesn t like us. We humans all get tired or fall sick, we eat and drink, so we cannot attribute perfection or attribute any qualities of divinity to anyone other than Allah swt. Don t say someone never gets tired because the quality of never only applies to Allah swt. You magnify Allah swt when you put everyone else in their right position. Why don t we magnify Allah swt as He deserves or is suiting Him? Because we place others into the divisions of qualities. If we put everyone in their positions by negating what is in Ayat ul Kursi you will magnify Allah swt. 11

All our deeds go up to Allah swt day and night. When you pray and make du a think of the One Who does not sleep. To build that magnifying of Allah swt, to build that clarity of the vision and to build the attachment to Allah swt, there is more, which is the goal of Ayat ul Kursi and that is for you to have a strong faith, to upgrade your faith. in life our main concern and issue is about ownership. We think someone who has money or has happiness will give you money or happiness if we attach to them. We own nothing, we are only entrusted with what we have. proud. No one is an owner except Allah swt. To Allah swt belongs everything in the dominion and this should make us to not be jealous or to be The sicknesses are because we think we own everything. But Allah swt is the owner of everything, He has the key to the treasures of everything. When we came into this life, we were not deserving of this life but Allah swt gave us life. And when Allah swt gave you life, He gave you everything. Allah swt is the Owner of love, the owner of happiness and everything so we should go to Allah swt and ask Allah swt for anything we want or for any need in this life. All these qualities of Allah swt are to make you to attach to Allah swt so remove any distractions which prevent you from fully attaching to Allah swt. When you look at the sun you feel Allah swt is the owner of the sun, Allah swt is the Owner of the moon, the sky, the earth, my house; Allah swt is the owner of me, my eyes, my children; Allah swt owns everybody. You don t own your husband, you don t own your children, your car or anything as these are entrusted to you as an amanah. Most of our issues are when we think we are the owner and we have the right to do whatever we want. You are a trustee, you are entrusted with the ownership of Allah swt. Allah swt gave me eyes, so I should not look at bad things as Allah swt entrusted me with my eyes. Don t destroy your health or yourself or do bad to others. People think their husbands belong to them or their children belong to them so you need to deal with them according to how Allah swt wants you to deal with them. They are the creation of Allah swt so Allah swt owns them. When you go to someone s house you cannot criticise and say why do they have what they have or move things around. This is their house so you cannot do whatever you want. If people don t like you they tend to comment on something you own. Everything is belonging to Allah swt so you cannot change what others have or argue about what others have. We shouldn t argue about anything in this dominion or in the universe. Anything which people own is what they own and you need to RESPECT this. Respect is a very important value which as Muslims we are most worthy to have. Respect the places where you are, respect your husband, respect your children; respect everywhere you go, respect the county you are living in and this will give you the dignity. 12

Allah swt honoured us with Qur an and magnifying Allah swt with the respect is step by step. We don t own an atom so we don t have the right to comment on what people have. Everything is belonging to Allah swt so we need to respect it, we need to give back anything we owe. Step by step we are humbled to be guided and to hold onto this and really believe in Allah swt. Go to the Owner Who owns everything, this is what will give you the freedom when you humble yourself to Allah swt. Sometimes we idolise people or magnify them. We ask them to make DU A for us which is actually humiliating ourselves in our hearts. This is wrong, why do I humiliate myself by magnifying someone else by asking them to give you something! You are insinuating that your du a is not accepted by Allah swt and their du a is accepted by Allah swt. We can make du a for each other but not on behalf of each other as we don t know what that other person is going through. This is not haram but you can ask Allah swt yourself so why do you go to someone else. And sometimes people go further by asking others to INTERCEDE for them in order to go to Paradise. This is wrong. There are intercessions on the Day of Judgement, they are the pious people, the Messengers, the Prophets, the angles, and those who were martyred, they have the permission to give intercession to others but no intercession will be valid or executed unless Allah swt gives PERMISSION because this person is deserving it. Don t put a barrier between you and Allah swt. If you want the intercession of Nabi saws you need to ask Allah swt, you need to send blessings of Allah swt upon the Prophet saws. You cannot ask Nabi saws for anything as this is shirk. The intercession belongs only to Allah swt so ask Allah swt. You need to do good deeds so that Allah swt will be pleased with you, so make du a, read the Qur an, and fast. Allah swt will give the permission for the intercession. On the Day of Judgement Nabi saws will prostrate to Allah swt then Nabi saws can intercede on behalf of the people. We need to attach to Allah swt. Anyone who is not a Messenger or is not an angel cannot intercede for you. This is building the respect when Ayat ul Kursi solves the issue of shirk from it s roots step by step. Nabi saws saw one man holding a thread because this man believed the thread would cure him. Nabi saws told the man this thread would only increase his sickness. People attach to a thread, a stone, a ring. We put too many chains around our neck. Make your life easy with no stress. Where is your belief in Allah swt, in Ayat ul Kursi, in the Qur an etc. Tawheed is the belief in One god Allah swt. No one can intercede for you on the Day of Judgement except by the permission of Allah swt. Allah swt forgives all the sins except the shirk. Allah swt will not accept the shirk, when you go around something else, even if it is a thread or a stone. You magnify no one or anything else except Allah swt the Most Great, the Most Exalted. Ayat ul Kursi will clear the shirk from the heart if you really understand Ayat ul Kursi. We underestimate Ayat ul Kursi by hanging it on a chain or hanging it on a wall, this is wrong. Ayat ul Kursi is not be hanged or adorned, Ayat ul Kursi is that you live it, believe in it, you beautify it and magnify it and so it gives you the rushd, the guidance, the sharp vision. Like with the Names of Allah swt, when you live them, you enjoy them and you see the most beautiful light. They solve the shirk from different levels and different layers. 13

We may fall into shirk without even knowing it so we make du a asking Allah swt to protect us from the shirk. The shirk causes people to enter Hellfire if they don t seek the forgiveness from Allah swt, so it is not a simple matter. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (radiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: Shirk (polytheism) is more subtle than the movements of an ant. Should I not show you ll [a du a] that will remove minor and major forms of polytheism? Recite: Allahumma inni a udhu bika an ushrika bika wa ana a lam, wa astaghfiruka lima la a lam. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from ascribing any partner to you knowingly. I also seek your protection from unknowingly [ascribing partners to you]. (Musnad Abi Ya la, Hadith: 55-56) Ayat ul Kursi is a protection and it also shows you what is right: No one has the right to worshipped except Allah swt No one else is Hayy or Qayyum Everyone feels sleep and slumber No one is perfect No one is the owner No one can intercede for you on the Day of Judgement We think that the people in front of us are a shortcut but they are not a shortcut, the shortcut is believing in Allah swt Al Hayy, the unseen. Shirk is tangible but it is not a short cut to Paradise but the shirk will take you to the Hellfire. Whatever your current level is, Ayat ul Kursi will take you to another level. We need to be grateful to Allah swt. Even if I know someone, I don t really know them. Even if we think we know ourselves we don t really know what qualities we have. Allah swt is the All Knower, Allah swt knows what you need, not the people. When we have a problem, when we feel sad or we have a pain in our body we don t know exactly what is the cause. Sometimes we cannot even express what happened. Allah swt is the All Knower. Allah swt knows your present, your past and your future and even the impossibilities, the probabilities things that never happened, if it will happen and how it will happen. When we look at the creation of the human being, Allah swt knows how those that survive will be as a person, Allah swt is the All Knower of all the details. We have so many choices in our life and Allah swt knows what is the decree and He knows what would have happened if you had made a different choice. Allah swt knows everything before it happens, when it happens and after it happens and Allah swt never ever forgets. Allah swt never forgets your good deeds, He knew about it and will know about it. So when you make du a, make du a to Allah swt. Allah swt is the All Knower of what you are feeling and what you are going through. 14

Other people don t know our problems but we repeat our problems to others and it makes us even more sick. Without you even expressing yourself Allah swt will teach you without making you go through the same experience. Allah swt knows about your needs before you even ask, before you feel it or before you want it. Allah swt brings us most of our needs before we even feel the need for them. The cravings of the body are from Allah swt. Those who go to fortune teller s and want to know the future are committing shirk because no one knows except Allah swt. Shaitan is deceiving the people when they think they know about the future or what is hidden. Something closed, you don t need to know about it. With the knowledge, this is what I know but Allah swt knows best. We learn from teachers and books, but Allah is the first One in knowledge and the last One in knowledge, Allah swt is the All Knower without being taught. Allah swt is the All Knower: Of what your eyes will seek Of what you hide in your heart This will give you the transparency so don t say anything you don t have in your heart, and don t say anything that contradicts what you have in your heart. This is HYPOCRISY and Allah swt knows what is in your heart and when your eyes betrays what is in your heart. Any KNOWLEDGE open to anyone is by Allah swt permission. Allah swt allows, Allah swt wills and Allah swt permits you to know Ayat ul Kursi, to know the Qur an or to know any kind of knowledge. When Allah swt allows the knowledge it will be apparent. knowledge except when Allah swt teaches you. Allah swt is the All Knower and no one has the This takes us to the first human being Adam (as) whom Allah swt gave all the knowledge. Allah swt first taught Adam (as) AlhamduliLlah, then the salam to the angels, the names of the angels, the names of people and the names of everything until the Day of Judgement. And what Allah swt will teach the offspring of Adam (as) depends on His Knowledge. How much we all know, Allah swt knowledge is far more than this. If Allah swt allows, you will learn. Even if you listen you will not learn unless Allah swt allows you to learn. You are not learning something in front of you because Allah swt did not allow it. If you want to learn ask Allah swt and Allah swt will teach you at the right time according to your needs. Don t attach to a teacher or to the books, attach to Allah swt. Allah swt taught you Ayat ul Kursi Allah swt made you to understand Ayat ul Kursi. This will make you to magnify Allah swt. The Kursi of Allah swt is Allah swt Greatness and Majesty. The beginning of Ayat ul Kursi is about: removing all the attachments, the intercession and the knowledge. Then we have the Kursi. 15

The Kursi-al-Allah is the place where Allah swt puts His Feet which we cannot explain and must believe. Bigger than the Kursi ul Allah is the Throne of Allah swt, the Kingdom of Allah swt. Allah swt rose of the Throne in a manner suiting His Majesty. Extend, enlarge. His Kursi is bigger than the Heavens and the Earth; like a ring in a barren desert. The kursi extends over all the horizon and this creates in us HUMILITY and HUMBLENESS to Allah swt; and al hayya, the modesty. We will not underestimate anything because Allah swt is big and He rose over the Throne. And the Kursi is small compared to the Arsh (Throne) yet it extends over the Heavens and the Earth. Imagine us who are so small arguing about Allah swt, being rebellious, disbelieving in Allah swt, believing in other atoms like ourselves. This is a lack of shame, a lack of modesty, showing no respect because you are leaving the One who is the Most High, the Most Exalted. May Allah swt forgive us for our sin s. The more we know about Allah swt the more we say AstaghfiruLlah. I am giving my salat, I am giving my du a to Allah swt so Great so I feel so humble and shame. Ya Rabb, I am not worthy, but Your mercy is more. You will forgive me. You have mercy on me. You need Allah swt mercy and forgiveness so you will not feel proud of yourself, you will not be jealous. The sky, the earth and the people all need protection. But we think only something on the earth needs protecting. But Allah swt is protecting the Heavens and the Earth so Allah swt is protecting us on the Earth and never gets tired of protecting you. You feel totally SECURE and PROTECTED by Allah swt. This indicates that there can be harm in the Heavens (shaitan) and the Earth (sins of the people). When you recite Ayat ul Kursi it will open up the evil; shaitan cannot bear to hear Ayat ul Kursi. More than protecting you Ayat ul Kursi is magnifying Allah swt so you go to Allah swt and Allah will protect you, protect your family, your religion, your money and your deen and your deeds. Allah is the Most Exalted and the Most Great. You attach to the One high in position and place, the Exalted One; in His Names and Attributes He is the Exalted One. No one is above Allah swt. We bring people up or we bring people down but Allah swt by Himself is the Most High and He doesn t need our praise to be High or the dispraise cannot cause Him to be down. Allah swt is the Most High in place and position and in power. Allah is the Most Great in His Names and Attributes so we need to magnify and exalt Allah swt. Don t exalt or magnify anyone else as Allah swt will bring them down. Then you will realise no one is aliy or azeem except Allah swt. We read Ayat ul Kursi: after each prayer in the morning and evening supplications 16

as a ruquyah before sleeping Ayat ul Kursi is protecting you from the shaitan is by itself is KalamAllah (speech of Allah) has a tongue and lips Is glorifying Allah swt Ayat ul Kursi stands out by itself. What an honour when Allah swt allows us to RECITE Ayat ul Kursi. What an honour if Allah swt allows us to UNDERSTAND Ayat ul Kursi. What an honour when Allah swt allows us to ACT UPON Ayat ul Kursi. Allah swt will open the knowledge so the knowledge will really entertain you and benefit you. After Ayat ul Kursi Allah says: 2:156 There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. Compulsion is when something is not right. Allah swt wants people who really want to magnify Allah swt. 17
