There are only four days of Ramadan left something so dear to you is going away. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala make us to do the best always. What is the feeling when you give a gift? You hope those beloved to you will like it, they will accept it. If you love Allah subhana wa ta'ala you will worry that Allah subhana wa ta'ala will not accept your deeds. Al Ghafur Ash Shukur We need these two Names of Allah to go to Paradise. Al Ghafur protects you from Hellfire as your sins will be forgiven. Ash Shukur whatever you do Allah subhana wa ta'ala will appreciate it. You don t know what good deeds will take you to Paradise. Sometimes Taqwa is really hidden. Are you muttaqeen or not? Everything in your life should include taqwa any trials, any incident, any news you receive, when praying, when dealing with people, when alone, with your thoughts etc. Taqwa is as if you put your heart on the table. Hadith: In any situation, your actions and your utterances are from the heart one from the malak (Allah subhana wa ta'ala reminds you) and one from the shaitan. If you are surrendering yourself this means you are afraid to be among the munafiqeen (hypocrites). The muttaqeen is always struggling going forward, Your ibadah is from the heart, your ibadah is firm. For 13 years during the time of Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu alayhi wa sallam the ayat came regarding the heart. This was for the sahabah. So how long do we need? Do we need to start with the guidance or with the halal & the haram? The Fruits of the Taqwa 1. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will make you affairs easy 2. Protection from the shaitan. 3. You will be showered with blessings. If you say this word will he / she pleased or unpleased, this is the taqwa and the barakah means you will have barakah with everything. With the taqwa the provision will come in a different way. You will be a blessed one MUBARAK. For example when you visit someone and you say one word it will stick in their mind and they will think / act upon your advice. 4. Guided to know truth from falsehood Especially when you are confused this state will not be for long if you have taqwa. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you the NUR (light) to see the right and the wrong, and the FURQAN (criterion) to take you away from the falsehood. 2

5. Chapter (65) sūrat l-ṭalāq (The Divorce) 65:3 And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent. Allah subhana wa ta'ala promised the person with taqwa: MAKHRAJ A way out i.e. you are invited to something haram and you are hoping from Allah subhana wa ta'ala not to go but you don t know what to do. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you makhraj something will happen to take you away from it i.e. event is cancelled. PROVISION Allah subhana wa ta'ala will provide for you from somewhere you don t know i.e. how will I go to work wearing the hijab? If you have taqwa no one will even mention your hijab. Remember anyone you worry about, they will not be in your grave. Chapter (49) sūrat l-ḥujurāt (The Dwellings) 49:11 O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers. Taqwa is not just controlling your utterances. certain family. People will come into your life to give you the taqwa, but instead we commit more sins. Even if you think something bad in your heart it will be considered as mocking that person making yourself better than that person. The same applies when thinking bad of a particular society or a 3

With taqwa Allah subhana wa ta'ala will take you out of the situation and provide for you from where you don t know. Allah subhana wa ta'ala reforms the hearts. Someone may put you down. Mothers advise their daughters that they need to have control over there husbands this is not taqwa. Someone close to you is bad to you - the greater jihad is to pardon them but people will tell you that you are weak. If you have taqwa Allah subhana wa ta'ala will make a way out for you. Make taqwa for Allah subhana wa ta'ala - but what do we do, we are making taqwa from peoples anger and sinning. When you make taqwa see how Allah subhana wa ta'ala will provide for you. Hadith: the mumin is noble (kareem) and deals with people as what appears to him. We should not go into the niyat of people. We must accept people as they appear to us. Do not go into their hearts judging people. Ibn Abbas said: If the sama a (sky) will be on the Earth, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will make a hole for the muttaqeen wherever they are. Taqwa will give you a hole, a way to come out of the situation. 6. You will be Awliyaa Chapter (10) sūrat yūnus (Jonah) 10:62 Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve The muttaqeen will be among the awliyaa. The more you believe in Allah subhana wa ta'ala, you have knowledge of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, you have the taqwa, the more you will be AwliyaAllah. What does it mean Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be your Wali? Allah subhana wa ta'ala loves you, cares about you. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will guide you to make the right decisions, guide you to the straight path, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will defend you if you don t say anything; you will be honoured. AwliyaAllah are not fighting for themselves, their rights. Their focus is amilu and taqwa. They are honoured by Allah subhana wa ta'ala. You need to give taqwa. Even in the small things you need to make taqwa. You have different levels of AwliyaAllah but at least you are there, even if you are just at the lowest level. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you the support, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will defend you, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will protect you, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will protect your children, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will protect your mind, your house, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will 4

put the barakah in your hands. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be your Guardian can then anyone touch you in harm. Allah subhana wa ta'ala declared war Allah subhana wa ta'ala is defending you. When people praise you, you need to make taqwa you will have a fight inside of you; on one side you fight with your ego which is pleased the other side says no, if I am happy with the praise my deeds will go. The muttaqeen (pious) puts a shield when something happens. The munafiqeen (hypocrite) puts themselves in the fitnah i.e. mentioning they stayed up all night praying. The more taqwa you have, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will appreciate your taqwa. In the beginning you struggle with little things when it comes to thinking about people you don t want to think that they are like this or like that, you feel ashamed to have these thoughts. You control yourself you don t say anything. But your emotions are up and down and you may start thinking this or that about people. i.e. comparing people to the parables in the Qur an, this is wrong and what you should do is say I don t want to be like those people in the parables. You need to put the shield of taqwa. Taqwa in the home Children Do not think bad about children. In your heart you think they are your own children so I can say anything to them. I can be rude to them, I can be mean to them. I can think he / she is lazy, he / she is irresponsible. On the Day of judgement you child will come to you and ask you to give him / her your hasanat. Why? Because on the Day of Judgment everybody wants the hasanat from each other. In life people maybe making fun of you but on the Day of Judgment you will be asking those people for their hasanat. Also don t think you can make fun of people infront them, even if they are accepting it. This is considered as mocking. Don t think it is her problem just because she takes it. Ash Shakir Ash Shakur At home you need to make taqwa. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be Ash Shakir (The All Recognizer), Ash Shakur (The Most Appreciative) with you, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will shower you with the taqwa. You are struggling just to get a little taqwa. But with just with a little taqwa, by guarding your heart Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you the taqwa to deal with the bigger situations. This is how Allah subhana wa ta'ala deals with the WaliAllah. If you go out of the house, anything your eyes will see or anything you will hear will be a reminder for you. You will be Muttaqeen. 7. Not Fear Your Enemies When someone is doing something against you, taqwa is a means for you not to be scared from your enemies. Chapter (3) sūrat āl ʿim'rān (The Family of Imrān) 3:120 If good touches you, it distresses them; but if harm strikes you, they rejoice at it. And if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do. 5

It is easy to be impatient and angry with people wronging you. Sabr + taqwa = huwa (power) You will say something behind their back or you will say something infront of them. If you are making taqwa their plots will not harm you. Don t be afraid of the people. Why do people backbite? You backbite when someone oppresses you. You feel weak and talk bad about them. But to make you strong you need to; Have sabr to hold yourself have taqwa not to say or think anything bad. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you the power as you need to get the power from somewhere. For example when people see a woman wearing a long abaya they will say she is mopping the floor. When you are on the straight path, the spotlight, is on you. If someone is criticising someone else about their faith, you may get angry with them telling them how do they know and then quarrel with them. Or in your heart you feel a certain people or a certain person is ignorant. This will make you arrogant. This is a test of your taqwa that person maybe better than you in the future so never underestimate anyone or never overestimate anyone. When you show off about your religion, this is the worst in your heart you are thinking I know and they don t know. For example you are in a dars and you know the etiquette of the dars. Maybe you will be inflicted with someone sitting infront of you who does not know the etiquette of the dars. Don t put the spotlight on her. This is not your problem. We boil inside because of the people. This is ikhtibar for you. DON T think other people don t know, DON T talk to everyone about it, this is a distraction. i.e. saying Why is this women coming with her children to the night prayer. You need to gather your heart. With regards to the studying Sheikh As Saadi had only a few students. One day only one student came. The teacher needs to be sabr and make taqwa not to think I made for the student and they did not turn up. The student needs to make sabr and taqwa not to think why isn t anyone coming to this teacher. And now Sheikh Saa di is known to so many people and people study his books in different languages. 8. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will Perfect your Deeds and Forgive your Sins Do you worry about your good deeds? Was there riya (showing off) in your deeds, did you have the wrong intention, was their a lack in your deed? attainment. Chapter (33) sūrat l-aḥzāb (The Combined Forces) 33:70 O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. 33:71 He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great 6

This is a glad tiding. When you are struggling you need to make the taqwa. - and speak a word right You are making taqwa, you control your tongue and you say sadida, a good word. What did Allah subhana wa ta'ala promise you? - He will amend for you your deeds. Your deeds which you are worried about, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will fix them for you. This is a huge relief. Who said you will do it perfectly? Nobody is perfect. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will complete it for you. This is for the deeds you are doing for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Your Prayer - For example in your prayer which you are doing for Allah subhana wa ta'ala but you have no khushoo. You start your prayer with the khushoo reciting surah Al Fatihah and then you go somewhere. Then you wake up but it is too late you cannot go back and recite surah Al Fatihah. You carry on then your mind wonders again, thoughts come into your mind. To repeat is wrong. To leave it is wrong. To bring your mind back to the prayer you need Allah subhana wa ta'ala I am zero and Allah subhana wa ta'ala is Perfect, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will appreciate even one second that you heart is there, if you are Muttaqeen Allah subhana wa ta'ala will complete the prayer for you as if you performed the whole prayer correctly. You cannot reach perfection, but you have to have hope from Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Wiswas - People may have a lot of wiswas about the deen. Who said we will go to Paradise with our good deeds? We will go to Paradise by Allah subhana wa ta'ala s mercy but you need to have the Taqwa you need to do something and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will complete your deeds for you. Taqwa with Good Deeds - and Allah will forgive you your sins. - Your duty when you do a good is to have the taqwa. We discussed how to have taqwa when committing sins. But how do you have taqwa when you are doing good deeds for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. When you accomplish your good deed don t feel proud. You need to have the taqwa, to feel there is a fault I didn t do enough I am determined to do more but I have hope in Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Then Allah subhana wa ta'ala will complete your deeds perfect your deeds. In Ramadan don t feel proud of your deeds but say Ya Rabb,i you accept it from me and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will complete it for you. Angels - The angels are praying to Allah subhana wa ta'ala and day and night but they are saying You deserve more. So what about us human beings full of faults. This is how you can see Allah subhana wa ta'ala will complete your deeds for you. 7

9. Love of Allah subhana wa ta'ala Chapter (3) sūrat āl ʿim'rān (The Family of Imrān) 3:76 But yes, whoever fulfills his commitment and fears Allah - then indeed, Allah loves those who fear Him. You will be loved by Allah subhana wa ta'ala. If you have a struggle, the more taqwa you have in your heart Allah subhana wa ta'ala will love you. I want Allah subhana wa ta'ala to love me, I want Allah subhana wa ta'ala to praise me. If you know people you will live in peace you know that they cannot harm you or benefit you. One scholar said A wise man will not be happy and rejoice when people praise him. And he will not be deceived or sad when the people dispraise him. What will make them to change is their desire. So in your heart you want Allah subhana wa ta'ala to love you, you do not want the people to love you. With people, quickly you will make them happy, quickly you will make them angry, quickly you will make them praise you, quickly you will make them dispraise you this is the human being. But when I want Allah subhana wa ta'ala to love me I will be Muttaqeen. 10. Rahmatullahi Chapter (7) sūrat l-aʿrāf (The Heights) 7:156 And decree for us in this world [that which is] good and [also] in the Hereafter; indeed, we have turned back to You." [Allah] said, "My punishment - I afflict with it whom I will, but My mercy encompasses all things." So I will decree it [especially] for those who fear Me and give zakah and those who believe in Our verses - A special mercy from Allah subhana wa ta'ala Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be merciful on you. You are worried to meet Allah subhana wa ta'ala You will always be content and pleased Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you the strength and power to be obedient Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you the barakah 8

11. Allah subhana wa ta'ala s special companionship Chapter (16) sūrat l-naḥl (The Bees) 16:128 Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good. You will have from Allah subhana wa ta'ala: Love of Allah subhana wa ta'ala Rahmatillah A Special Mercy of Allah subhana wa ta'ala A Special Companionship of Allah subhana wa ta'ala 12. (no sound for 5 mins) Chapter (10) sūrat yūnus (Jonah) 10:63 Those who believed and were fearing Allah 10:64 For them are good tidings in the worldly life and in the Hereafter. No change is there in the words of Allah. That is what is the great attainment. You will have Allah subhana wa ta'ala s Special Mercy in the dunya this will be a glad tiding in; the form of a dream or from the love of the people. When you are Muttaqeen you will not be isolated, in fact it is the opposite. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give the glad tiding, the good news in the life, just by having a little taqwa. 9

13. Your reward will not be lost Chapter (12) sūrat yūsuf (Joseph) 12:90 They said, "Are you indeed Joseph?" He said "I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allah has certainly favored us. Indeed, he who fears Allah and is patient, then indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good." Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you all your rewards when you have the taqwa You have to have the sabr and the taqwa when you are doing good deeds; You want o back bite but you cannot You want to be jealous of someone but you stopped yourself You want to hate someone but you don t You pardon someone. In everything you make the taqwa and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will not make your reward go in vain. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will preserve your reward for you. These are the main fruits of the Taqwa. So think about your taqwa the battle. Do not be heedless. When you are in the battle you are on the right way. Dealing with people is the biggest taqwa. We ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and His Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are my own. I ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and to put forgiveness in the hearts of those who read them. JazakAllah Khairan. 10
