1 About the booklet About the Author This is a lecture reference booklet. Compiled by Muhammad Shaikh. It is in accordance with the lecture of the same topic. It contains the Quranic verses which are collected from The Quran under the topic set by the speaker with the help of Allah. 2 INTRODUCTION The aim of this booklet is to introduce the reader to the topic from the Qur an. It can be studied on its own and it also complements the video lecture of the same topic which accompanies it. The booklet contains ayaat (Qura nic verses) pertaining to the topic as discussed in the video lecture in a question and answer format. Questions are raised, and their answers are given by the ayaat. The ordering and numbering of the ayaat corresponds with those on the lecture which can be downloaded from the video lectures section of IIPC website: The Qura nic references provided herein are not exhaustive but offer the core essence of the subject. The references that have been excluded in this publication can be researched using any good concordance and it will be discovered that the selection introduced in this publication will harmonize the entire sequence. It is hoped that Muslim readers will memorize these ayaat along with their Arabic text and engage in Da wah (propagation of Islam) to their friends and colleagues, and also be able to recite the same in their Salah (prayer). In this manner, the booklet becomes a useful tool for everyday Muslim practice - Insha Allah. Do they not ponder over the Qur'an? If it had been from other than Allah, surely there would have found many contradictions in it. It is He who has made the sun shining and the moon to be a light / reflection and He has evaluated its lunar mansion (i.e. each of 28 divisions of the ecliptic occupied by the moon on successive days) for you to know the number of years and the calculation. Allah has not created that except with the truth. 5 AL-BAQARA 2 AT-TAUBA Surely the number of the months in the nearness of Allah are twelve months in the book of Allah the day He created the skies and the earth, from those, four are sacred / holy / forbidden. (Ramazan, Shawwal, Zulqad, Zilhij) That is the judgement established. So you do not oppress yourselves / souls / psyches in them (by fighting) and you fight the mushriks / associates entirely like that they fight you entirely (in other than sacred months). And know that Allah is with those who guard themselves. 2. Then make a trip in the earth (for hajj / pilgrimage those who have the means) in four months (Ramazan, Shawwal, Zulqad, Zilhij) and know that you cannot disable the will of Allah and that Allah will disgrace those who reject The sacred / holy / forbidden month is with the sacred / holy / forbidden month and the sanctities (of the months & its dont s) have relations. So whosoever aggresses on you so you aggress on him with the example of what he aggresses on you. And take guard of Allah and know that Allah is with those who guard themselves. 185.Ramazan is that month in which Al-Quran is revealed as a guide for mankind, and for the clarification from the guidance and from the criterion, so amongst you whosoever witnesses that month then he should fast in it... 4 XXXX

6 N AL-BAQARA They question you about fighting in the sacred / holy / forbidden month (of Ramazan). Say fighting in it is big (offence) and to oppose from the way of Allah and from the sacred mosque and to reject with it and to expel its people from it is greater (offence) in the nearness of Allah and captivation / fascination is a greater (offence) than killing (physically). And if they have the capability they will not cease to fight you until you turn from your judgment (i.e. to establish Islam / to attain peace). And amongst you whosoever turns away from his judgement then he dies and he is a rejecter, so they are those whose works have failed in this world and in the hereafter and they are the companions of fire, they will dwell in it. 5 AL-BAQARA And they ask you about the crescent / the new moon. (i.e. each of 28 divisions of XXXX the ecliptic occupied by the moon on successive days) Say they are the timings for mankind and timings of hajj / pilgrimage... (i.e. Starting and ending of the hajj). 197.The months of hajj / pilgrimage are known (Shawwal, Zulqadah, Zilhij) so whosoever impose hajj / pilgrimage (on himself) in them so he should not commit obscenity and do not take liberties (of the do s and dont s) and should not debate in the hajj / pilgrimage. And what you do from betterment Allah knows it. And take provision, so surely the best of the provision is to take guard and take guard from Me O' you who possess the core! (those who know the essence / spirit of ayaat / signs). 6

So when the sacred / holy / forbidden months are ended (Ramazan, Shawwal, Zulqadah, Zilhij) then fight / kill (the self / soul / psyche of) the associates wherever you find them and catch them and confine them and sit on every place of ambush for them. So if they repent and establish salah / prayer and give zakah / justification so leave the way for them. Surely Allah is all Forgiving, Merciful. Questions & Answers 37. Surely the postponement of it (sacred / holy / forbidden month) is an increase in the rejection, those who reject are astray with it. They make it (i.e. sacred / holy / forbidden month) un-sacred / un-holy / lawful in a year and make it (i.e. sacred / holy / forbidden month) sacred / holy / forbidden in a year. So that they adjust the numbers to what Allah has made sacred / holy / forbidden. So they make it un-sacred / lawful to what Allah has made sacred / holy / forbidden. Their bad works are adornment for them. And Allah does not guide the people who are rejecters. 7 8

8 Q AL-MAIDA Allah will not catch you with nonsensical / ungrammatical talk in your right. And He will catch you with what you fastened / tied the knot in your right and the atonement / amendment / correction is feeding of the ten needy persons from an average of what you feed to your family or garb them (i.e. a distinctive of a uniform kind) or liberate / free a slave. Then whosoever does not find (this) then fast for three days. That is an atonement / amendment / correction of your right when you take an oath. And preserve your right. Likewise Allah clarifies His ayats / signs for you so that you may be thankful. P AN-NISA God accept the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and repent soon afterwards, to them will God turn in mercy. For Allah is Knowledgeable, Wise. 18. And there is no (acceptance of) repentance for those who do badness / ills until when death is present to any one of them, he says, surely now I repent. And it is not for (Allah to accept the repentance) those who die and they were rejecters.they are those for whom We have prepared the painful punishment. Q1. What is the kaffara or atonement if we fight or quarrel in the month of Ramazan? 9 10

9 AL-BAQARA 2 AL-BAQARA It is lawful for you to be indecent / to have obscene talks to your women in the night of fast, they are a covering for you and you are covering for them. Allah knows that you betrayed yourselves, so He returns over you and pardoned you about it. So now accompany them and seek what Allah has written for you, and eat and drink until from dawn the white thread clarifies for you from the black thread, then complete the fast towards the night, and you do not accompany them when you are devoted in the mosques. These are the boundaries of Allah so you do not go near them. Likewise Allah clarifies His ayats / signs for people so that they may take guard. 84. And when We took a covenant do not shed your blood and do not expel your souls / selves / psyches from your circles then you confirmed and you are witnessing to it. 54. And remember Moosa (pbuh) said to his people, O my people! You have indeed wronged yourselves by taking the hurriedness, so turn to your Maker, and kill yourselves that will be better for you in the sight of your Maker. Then He turned towards you for He is the Returning, the Merciful. Q3. In sacred months Allah has forbidden us to kill and to fight. This means we can kill and fight the people in other months. Clarify this? Q2. Can women sit in Aitekaaf in the month of Ramazan? 11 12

10 AT-TAUBA 9 U AL-QADR 97 US 111. Surely Allah has purchased from the believers their souls / selves / psyches and their wealth, with that garden is for them. They fight in the way of Allah then they kill (their souls / psyches) and get (their souls / psyches) killed. A promise on Him in truth in At-Taurah / The Law and Al-Injeel / the good news and in Al-Quran / The Reading. And who can fulfill with his promise than Allah, then rejoice with your deal that you bargained with Him. And that is the supreme achievement Surely We have revealed it in the night of evaluation. And what you can perceive that what is the night of evaluation. Night of evaluation is better from thousand months. 4. The angels and Ar-Rooh / The Spirit is sent down in it with the permission of their Lord, from every order. 5. Peace, until the rise of fajr / dawn. Q4.What is lailat-ul-qadar?
