2 Irshaadul Mulook- Online Class (9) Lesson 8 5 th Sha ban 1439 Hijri 22 nd April 2018 بسم هللا الرحمان الرحيم Hadhrat Maulana Zakariyya Rahmatullahi Alayh writes, حضرت اقدس گنگوہی نور هللا مرقدہ نے اپنے ايک عريضے ميں خو اپنے شيخ و مرشد حاجی صاحب رحمت هللا عليہ کے اس واال نامہ کے جواب ميں جس ميں حاجی صاحب رحمت هللا عليہ نے حضرت گنگوہی رحمہ هللا کے حاالت دريافت کيے تھے لکھا ہے اور مکاتيبے رشيديہ ميں بھی تبا ہوگيا ہے Hadhrat e Aqdas Gangohi Nawwarallahu Marqadahu ne apne ek areeze me jo apne shaikh wa murshid Haji Saahib Rahmatullahi Alayh ke is waala naama ke jawaab me, jis me Haji Saahib Rahmatullahi Alayh ne Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah ke haalaat daryaaft kiye the, likha hai, aur makaateebe rasheediyah me bhi taba hogaya hai He is saying that, Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah has in one of his letters which was a reply to a letter of his Shaykh, Hadhrat Haji Sahib Rahimahullah, in which Hadhrat Haji Sahib Rahimahullah had asked him regarding his condition, how he was, etc... In reply to that letter, Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah writes, which Hadhrat Maulana Zakariyya Rahmatullahi Alayh is reproducing a copy here... He says, 'this letter has also been published and printed in Makaateebe Rasheediyyah', (in a copy of all the collections of

3 Hadhrat Maulana Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh) which we have spoken about in the previous lessons. He says, بعينہ نقل کرتا ہوں Bi'aynihi naqal karta huun 'I am reproducing this letter, exactly as it is written there...' حضرت گنگوہی نور هللا تحرير فرماتے ہيں Hadhrat Gangohi Nawwarrallah tahreer farmaate hai Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah writes, حضور نے جو بندہ ناالئک کے حاالت سے استفسار فرمايا ہے کہ ميرے مآوہ دارين اس ناکس کے کيا حاالت اور کس درجے کی کوئی خوبی ہے جو آفتابے کماالت کے رو برو عرض کرے Huzoor ne jo banda e naalaik ke haalaat se istifsaar farmaya hai, ke mere ma'wa e daarayn is naakas ke kya Haalaat aur kis darje ki koi khuubi hai jo aaftaabe kamaalaat ke ruu baru arz kare 'Hadhrat has asked this very unworthy and undeserving slave regarding his Haalaat...' Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah gives an ajeeb reply addressing his Shaykh, 'O my support of both worlds! What Haalaat will this helpless, worthless one have... What goodness is there in me, that I can even mention anything in front of the sun of all beautiful qualities and uniqueness... How can I say anything in front of the sun of all Kamaalaat, what can

4 I say?' بخدا سخت شرمندہ ہوں کچھ نہيں ہوں Bakhuda sakht sharmindah huun, kuch nahi huun 'With the Qasm of Allah, I am very embarrassed and ashamed... I am nothing...' مگر جو ارشادے حضرت ہے تو کيا کرے Magar jo irshaade Hadhrat hai, to kya kare? 'I am nothing, I got no Haalaat, how can I say anything of what is happening to me in front of my Shaykh who is the sun of all beauty, and unique qualities...' He carries on, 'However, it is the command of my Hadhrat, that I should mention my Haalaat, what can I do?' بنا چاری کچھ لکھنا پڑتا ہے Binaa chaari kuch likhna parta hai 'In a state of helplessness, I have to write down something, because Hadhrat has asked and commanded me to do so. I have not got a choice, but to write...' Just look at the Ajeeb things we are getting to learn from here... On one side, Extreme humility (tawazu), and on the other side, Obeying the command of his Shaykh without any hesitation.

5 He combined both in these few lines, which I just read out and translated to you in such an ajeeb way, that a person will remain speechless and surprised that, 'how did he manage to do that?' How he expressed his worthlessness and humility by saying, 'what Haalaat can I say, and because it is the Hukm of Hadhrat, I have to say...' He continues... حضرت مرشدے من علم ظاہری کا تو يہ حال ہے آپکے خدمت سے دور ہوا عرصہ سات سال سے کچھ زيادہ ہوا ہے Hadhrat Murshid e Mann, Ilme zaahiri ka to ye haal hai, aapke Khidmat se duur huwe arsa saat saal se kuch zyaadah huwa hai 'O my beloved Hadhrat, as far as my outward Ilmi condition is concerned, it has now been more than seven years, that I have been separated and far from your Khidmat and companionship...' Hadhrat Haji Sahib Rahimahullah had made Hijrat to Makkah, (he was no more in India), so it was not easy to meet, as Hadhrat Gangohi explains that 'seven years have passed and I have not been in your Mubarak company...' He carries on... اس سال تک دوسو سے چند عدد زيادہ آدمی سند حديث حاصل کرکے گيے Is saal tak, doso se chand adad zyaadah aadmi sanad e Hadith haasil karke gaye 'Alhamdulillah, more than 200 students have qualified as Ulamaa under me, and have taken with them the qualification of Hadith. (In other words, more than 200 Ulamaa have completed Hadith

6 under me...' اور اکثر ان ميں سے وہ ہے کہ انہوں نے درس جاری کيا اور سنت کے احياء ميں سر گرم ہوے اور اشاعتے دين ان سے ہوے Aur akthar un mese wo hai, ke unhon ne dars jaari kiya aur Sunnat ke Ihyaa me sar garam huwe aur isha'ate Deen unse huwi 'From these 200+ students who have qualified under me, majority are those who have now themselves become involved in different Madaaris, in teaching, and they are also very busy in the involvement and effort of Reviving the Sunnat, and already Deen has started spreading from my students...' اور اس شرف سے زيادہ کوئ شرف نہيں اگر قبول ہو جاے Aur is sharaf se zyaadah koi sharaf nahi...agar qubuul hojae 'There is no greater honour than this honour, provided that it gets accepted by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.' This is the Haal only concerning his Ilme Zaahiri - his academic side, as far as teaching Quran and Hadith was concerned, but he is so hesitant to say it due to his extreme humility. That is why he repeatedly said in the beginning of the letter, 'Hadhrat, what can I say, but because it is the Hukm of Hadhrat, I have to say...' اور حضرت کے اقدامے نعلين کی حاضری کے ثمرے کا يہ خالصہ ہے کہ جدھر قلب ميں غير حق تعالی سے نفع و ظرر کا التفا کيا ہے Aur Hadhrat ke aqdaame na'lain ki haazri ke thamare ka ye khulaasah hai, ke jidhar qalb me Ghair Haq Ta'ala se nafaa wa zarar ka iltifaa kiya hai 'The result is the gist of the fruits which I attained by presenting

7 myself in front of the feet of the Mubarak slippers of my Hadhrat... From the depths of my heart, I do not turn to anyone besides Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in as far as my benefit and my harm is concerned. My heart is totally focused towards Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala...' This is a very lofty Maqaam that Hadhrat is talking about regarding himself, a very high level for a person to have such focus on Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. We spoke about the same in the Latest Islahi Majlis, 'for the heart to be focused on Allah, that everything is from Allah, both benefit and harm are from Allah...' He further says, 'I do not care in the least bit about anyone's praise, nor do I care about anyone's criticism...both are the same for me.' معصيت کی طبعا نفرت اور اطاعت کی طبعا رغبت پيدا ہوگيئ ہے Ma'siyat ki tab'an nafrat aur ita'at ki tab'an raghbat payda hogayi hai 'A natural aversion and hatred for sins has been created in my heart, and at the same time, a natural inclination, love, Shauq, and enthusiasm for obedience has also been created within me...' اور يہ اثر اسی نسبت ياد داشتے بے رنگ کا ہے جو مشکاتے انوارے حضرات سے پہونچا ہے Aur ye athar, isi nisbate yaad daashte be rang ka hai, jo mishkaate anwaare Hadhrat se pohncha hai He is mentioning all his very lofty Haalaat, but attributing them all to his Shaykh.

8 'All of this, is due to the result of effect of the very same nisbat and Connection to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala which I have been blessed through the Treasury of the انوار - Anwaar- the Spiritual light of my Hadhrat...' پس زيادہ عرض کرنا گستاخی اور شوق چشمی ہے Pas zyaadah arz karna gustaakhi aur shauq chashmi hai 'I feel, if I say anymore and continue about my Haal, it is going to become 'Gustaakhi' and Be adabi, and a disrespect to my Hadhrat...' يا هللا معاف فرمانا کہ حضرت کے ارشاد سے تحرير ہوا ہے جھوٹا ہوں کچھ نہيں ہوں تيرا ہی ظل ہے تيرا ہی وجود ہے ميں کيا ہوں Ya Allah, maaf farmana ke Hadhrat ke irshaad se tahreer huwa hai, jhuta huun, kuch nahi huun, tera hi zil hai, tera hi wujuud hai, me kya huun 'Ya Allah, please forgive me... I have only written this because it was the Hukm of my Hadhrat, I am a big liar, I am nothing... Ya Allah, it is only Your Shade over us... Ya Allah, it is only Your existence... It is only You who is in control of everything... What am I... I am nothing...' So this is what he writes in the letter...,أستغفر هللا, أستغفر هللا, أستغفر هللا, ال حول و ال قوة إال باهلل And he then ends off with and says, اب عرض سے معذور فرما کر قبول فرما Ab arz se ma'zuur farmaa kar qubool farma

9 'This is all I managed to write, and please do accept my excuse, I am unable to write anymore of my Haalaat, Wassalaam...' سن تيرا سو چھے ہجری San tera so che Hijri Dated: 1306 Hijri. Look at this Ajeeb letter of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh... The content, the words in the letter... It can give you a glimpse of what level he was on...something which is unimaginable, we cannot fathom it! But the words give you a slight glimpse of where he was, what Maqaam he had reached, unimaginable... Hadhrat Zakariya Rahmatullahi Alayh continues, He says, يہ عريضہ حضرت گنگوہی قدس سرہ کا اپنے شيخ اور مرشد کے نام سن تيرا سو تيئس ميں حضرت کا وصال ہوا Yeh areeza Hadhrat Gangohi Quduse Sirrahu ka apne Shaykh aur Murshid ke naam san tera so che Hijri ka hai, aur tera so teis me Hadhrat ka wisaal huwa This is the letter of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh to his Shaykh in 1306 Hijri, and in 1323 Hijri, Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh passed away.

10 So basically, there was a time lapse of 17 years between the time the letter was written and the passing away of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh. Hadhrat Maulana Zakariyya Rahmatullahi Alayh says about that, ان سترہ سالوں ميں کہاں تک پہونچے ہونگے اسکا معمولی سا اندازہ اسی سے ہوسکتا ہے کہ حضرت اقدس سہارنپوری مہاجرے مدنی رحمہ هللا حضرت اقدس شيخ الہند ديوبندی رحمہ هللا قطب االتقياء حضرت شاہ عبد الرحيم صاحب رايپوری رحمہ هللا اور شيخ االسالم حضرت مدنی نور هللا مراقدہم کے عالوہ جنکی تعداد تيس تک پہونچتی ہے اور تذکرة الرشيد ميں انکی اجمالی حاالت موجود ہے اور بہت سے حضرات حضرت گنگوہی قدس سرہ کے مجازی اور مريدين ميں ہے In satrah saalon me kahaan tak pohnche honge, uska ma'muli sa andaaza isi se hosakta hai, ke Hadhrat e Aqdas Saharanpuri Muhaajire Madani Rahimahullah, Hadhrat e Aqdas Shaykhul Hind Deobandi Rahimahullah, Qutbul Atqiyaa Hadhrat Shah AbdurRaheem Sahib Raipuri Rahimahullah, aur Shaykhul Islam Hadhrat Madani Nawwarallahu maraaqiduhum ke alaawa, jinki ta'daad tees tak pohnchti hai aur tazkiratur rasheed me unke ijmaali haalat mawjuud hai, aur bohot se hazraat Hadhrat Gangohi Quduse Sirrahu ke majaazi aur mureedeen me hai We can get a very small, slight glimpse and estimation of where he reached from this, that Hadhrat e Aqdas Saharanpuri Muhaajire Madani Rahimahullah, (the Shaykh of Hadhrat Maulana Zakariyya Rahmatullahi Alayh), then Hadjrat Shah Maulana Raipuri Rahimahullah, Shaykhul Islam Hadhrat Madani Rahimahullah, and besides that, at least 30 whose accounts of lives have been briefly mentioned in Tazkiratur Rasheed, and besides that many other Hazraat, they were all the Khulafaa and the Mureedeen of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah. If this was his Haal in 1306, and 17 years passed before his Maut, what level must he have reached in those 17 years, as he was constantly climbing in his Maqaam, and level?

11 From that, we can get to know what the level Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah was on... All these names which we read out, were all the Khulafaa of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullahu Ta'ala, and each one, we can say was a mountain of Ilm and Wilayat in his own right. If each of his Khulafaa were so great, then what about the Maqaam of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah himself? You cannot even imagine! Hadhrat Zakariya Rahimahullah says, اور حضرت اقدس موالنا الحاج محمد الياس صاحب رحمہ هللا بانی تبليغ نزام الدين حضرت اقدس گنگوہی قدس سرہ کے مريدين ميں اور حضرت کے خليفہ اول يعنی حضرت سہارنپوری کے خلفاء ميں ہيں Aur Hadhrat e Aqdas Maulana Al Haaj Muhammad Ilyaas Saahib Rahimahullah, Baaniye Tabligh Nizamuddin, Hadhrat e Aqdas Gangohi Quduse Sirrahu ke Mureedeen me, aur Hadhrat ke Khaleefah e Awwal, yaani Hadhrat Saharanpuri ke Khulafaa me hai Hadhrat Maulana Zakariyya Rahmatullahi Alayh is adding on from his side that, 'Hadhrat Maulana Muhammad Ilyaas Saahib Rahimahullah, (the chacha of Hadhrat Zakariya Rahmatullahi Alayh), who was the founder of the Tabligh of Nizaamuddin - the founder of the specific way of the Tabligh in Nizaamuddin, he was from the Mureedeen of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullahu Ta'ala. He spent almost 10 years in the companionship of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah...' In other words, his childhood - teenage years, approximately from the age of 10 till the age of 20. He spent day and night in the Khidmat of Hadhrat Gangohi

12 Rahmatullahi Alayh.' When he was at the age of about 20, Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah passed away, otherwise he would have gone on to spend more time. 'After Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh passed away, he then got connected to his first, and perhaps the greatest Khaleefa of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh, who is Hadhrat Saharanpuri Rahmatullahi Alayh (the Shaykh of Hadhrat Maulana Zakariyya Rahmatullahi Alayh himself), and he got Khilaafat from Hadhrat Saharanpuri Rahimahullah.' He was one of the Khaleefahs of Hadhrat Saharanpuri Rahimahullah, and it is written about him, that he stayed in the Khidmat of Hadhrat Saharanpuri Rahimahullah, his Shaykh e Thaani, for a period of 30 years. And then after that, was when he began the specific effort of Tabligh, which he started in Nizaamuddin, which later on through the Ikhlaas and Maqaam it gained from his two Shaykhs, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala accepted the work, and it spread throughout the world. It was because of the direct Barakaat of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh and Hadhrat Saharanpuri Rahimahullah, that Hadhrat Maulana Ilyaas Rahmatullahi was granted from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Hadhrat Maulana Zakariyya Rahmatullahi Alayh mentions this special note, 'Maulana Ilyaas Rahmatullahi Alayh was such a great person, and he also benefited greatly from Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh himself.'

13 حضرت اقدس گنگوہی قدس سرہ کے يہاں تعليمے ظاہری و باطنی کا سلسلہ آخر سن تيرا سو تيرا ہجری تک رہا Hadhrat e Aqdas Gangohi Quduse Sirrahu ke yahaan, taaleem e zaahiri wa baatini ka silsila aakhir san tera so tera Hijri tak raha He says, 'Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah carried on with the Silsilah of Ta'leem, he continued to teach the academic subjects of Quran, Hadith, and Fiqh etc., and guide his Mureeds until the year 1313 Hijri.' اور چونکہ نزول آب ہو گيا تھا اس ليے علوم ظاہريہ کے اشتغال کے اوقات بھی تصفيہ قلوب اور تزکيہ نفوس ميں صرف ہونے لگے Aur chhuunke nuzuule aab hogaya tha, is liye uloome zaahiriyyah ke ishtighal ke awqaat bhi tasfiyah quloob aur tazkiya e nufoos me sarf hone lage And then from the beginning of 1314 Hijri, because water had come down in his eyes due to their excessive usage, which eventually took him to blindness, he could not reach anymore. Now what happened? 'All those hours that he would spend in teaching, they were now devoted to the Cleaning of Hearts, and The effort of Tazkiyah and Tasawwuf...' In other words, he was now involved fulltime in the effort of guiding the seekers, and purifying their hearts in 1414 Hijri due to his inability to teach because of his eye problem. اور آٹھ جماد الثانيہ سن تيرا سو تيئس جمعہ کے دن جمعہ کی اذان کے وقت اس عالم سفلی کو الوداع فرمايا

14 Aur aat'h Jumaada Thaaniyah san tera so teeis Jumuah ke din, Jumuah ki azaan ke waqt, is aalam e suflaa ko alwidaa farmaya 'And then finally on the 8th of Jumaada Thaaniyah in 1323 Hijri, on the day of Jumuah, right at the time of the Jumuah Adhaan, he bade farewell to this very lowly world, he passed away..' How did he pass away? Hadhrat is saying, هللا جل شانہ کے انعامات ميں درجہ شہادت بھی عطا فرمانا تھا Allah Jalla Sha'nuhu ke in'amaat me darja e shahaadat bhi ataa farmana tha 'From amongst the many Ne'mats and gifts that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala had given to Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullah, Allah wanted to give him the level of Shahaadat as well...' اسليے ان نہايت زہريلے اور بہت بڑے سانپ کے دھنسنے سے تھجد کی نماز ميں قدم بوسی کی تمنا ميں پاے مبارک کو دھنسا اور حضرت قدس سرہ کو نماز کے استغراق ميں پتہ بھی نہيں چال Is liye an nihayat zehriile aur bohot bare saanp ke dasne se tahajjud ki namaaz me, qadam bosi ki tamanna me pae Mubarak ko dasa aur Hadhrat Quduse Sirrahu ko namaz ke istighraaq me patah bhi nahi chala... جب صبح کی نماز کے ليے گيے تھے مسجد ميں تشريف الے تو خدام نے ديکھا کہ پاے مبارک اور پاينچے سب خون آلود ہے تب حضرت کو خبر ہوی Jab subah ki namaaz ke liye ghaye the, masjid me tashreef laye, to khuddam ne dekha, ke paae Mubarak aur painche, sab khuun aluud hai, tab Hadhrat ko khabar huwi

15 So, what happened? An ajeeb incident took place. 'Because Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala wanted to grant him Shahaadat, that is why an extremely poisonous and huge snake bit him at the time of Tahajjud. Hadhrat was performing his Tahajjud Namaz, and at that time the snake came... Hadhrat Maulana Zakariyya Rahmatullahi Alayh puts it is such a beautiful way... 'Why did the snake come? It came, because it had the tamanna(wish) of kissing the Mubarak feet, and gettimg the Barkat of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullahu Ta'ala...' And the kissing of the snake is obviously the biting of the snake as well, so in the process, it bit the Mubarak foot of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullahu Ta'ala. 'Hadhrat Gangohi Rahimahullahu Ta'ala was so engrossed in his Tahajjud Namaz, he was in such an Aalam of absorption that he did not even realise that he had been bitten by that snake...allahu Akbar!!' What would we have done? What would our haal be? This huge extremely poisonous snake came and bit him, and he did not even realise in his Namaz that something had happened.

16 He was so absorbed... Forget feeling the pain, and even seeing the snake, he was in another world, he did not even realise what had happened... He continued with his Namaz as though nothing had happened. So he says, 'Until Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh came to the Masjid for Fajr Namaz, because obviously he prayed Tahajjud at home, now that the time had advanced, and it was quite light, as for the Hanafi Madh'hab, it is the Mustahab time to pray Fajr, at that time, all his servants and Khuddaam (those who made his Khidmat), saw that not only the Mubarak foot of Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh, but even part of his Izaar, Shalwar, the whole thing was covered in blood...' تب حضرت کو خبر ہوی Tab Hadhrat ko khabar huwi... 'It was only then, when Hadhrat got to know of what had happened to him.' Until then, he had no idea about his foot bleeding, his Izaar covered in blood. اور ماتا لديغا کا مرتبہ شہادت بھی حاصل ہوا Aur maata ladeeghan ka martaba e shahaadat bhi haasil huwa As we know, there are many different ways of getting Shahaadat. Maata Ladeeghan - مات لديغا - If someone passes away due to a snake bite, that is also one type of Shahaadat, a person gets the level of

17 Shahaadat. So, Hadhrat Gangohi Rahmatullahi Alayh passed away due to the poison, venom of the snake, and got the Darja of Shahaadat. When was this? جماد االولی سن تيرا سو تيئس ہجری کی بارہوی يا تيرھوی شب ميں دھنسنے کا قصہ پيش آيا 'Jumaadal Oola san tera so teeis Hijri ki baarhwi ya terhwi shab me dasne ka qissa pesh aaya' He was bit on the 12th or 13th night of Jumaadal Oola. اور بار خالفے روايات آٹھ يا نو جماد الثانيہ کو وصال ہوا Aur bar khilaafe riwaayaat, aat'h ya nau jumaada thaaniyah ko wisaal huwa He says, 'According to the different versions, he either passed away on the 8th or the 9th of Jumaada Thaaniyah' He passed away, just a bit under a month due to that venom. And he says, بعض حضرات کا سحر کا بھی خيال تھا جيسے کہ اس سے پہلے ہو چکا تھا Baaz Hadhraat ka sihr ka bhi khyaal tha, jese ke usse pehle ho chuka tha 'Some other people also thought, that it was due to the Sihr done on him, that he passed away, the way he had been a victim of it previously.'

18 Generally our Buzurgaane Deen would be victims of Sihr. Hence they said, this could also have been a reason of his passing away. اسليئے ہر نو کے عالجات اور معالجات کئے گئے مگر ان اجل هللا اذا جاء ال يؤخر Is liye har nau ke ilaajaat aur mu'aalajaat kiye gaye magar Inna ajalallaahi idha jaa'a laa yu'akhar 'After that, he received every type of treatment, and Ilaaj, however, the rule is that, 'When the time of a person has come, it cannot be delayed...'
