Hope it will be interesting and informative to you. Let us first of all take the opportunity to express our Best Wishes to the entire Community on advent of New Gregorian Year May this New Year bring peace & prosperity throughout globe in general and in Muslim Ummah in Particular, A ameen. It is also a matter of pleasure that existing body of Memon Welfare has very successfully completed first year of it s tenure. In this connection, it will be unjust if we give credit to MWS only, undoubtedly, our community also deserves credit equally since without assistance, guidance, support and cooperation it was not possible for present body to complete first year effectively. Inaugurating H.E.Consul General Pakistan Mr.A.Salik Khan and Dr. M.U.Chapra cutting cake to initiate from now to celebrate 5 th Anniversary of MWS in March As most our community members know that the existing Memon Welfare Society was found in April 2008 in La Sani Restaurant, Madina Road with attendance of only 60 community members. During last 5 years Memon Welfare experienced several impediment and lot of difficulties to continue it s operation. However, with change of names, MWS overcame the challenges and it continued progressing. The community s interest and confidence in Memon Welfare is now remarkable. We would like to thank our brothers who send to us their valuable views and suggestions that are useful for future guidance. We sincerely apologize in advance if there is any unintentional omission or error in this Newsletter. 3 The Welfare Services of Memon Welfare Society Helping poor students for education fee Helping Community members for health care for those who cannot afford Helping in Coffin & Burial Services Helping & guiding unemployed in seeking employment Voluntarily Matrimonial services Beside above we are assisting some Madrassa by paying fees of needy students and school where the students will receive free education who cannot afford even the nominal fee. We also hold other social & welfare activities for our community such as Seminar, Families get to gather together, Career guidance sessions, evening with scholar, and also help financially and materially the victims of natural disaster such as flood and Earth quake etc. During last 4 months we have sent 4 shipments of used clothes for poor people in Pakistan & India. We also collect unused medicines for free medical camps organized by Pakistan welfare Society in Consulate General of Pakistan Jeddah. Memon Welfare Society is playing a significant role by providing an opportunity to the community families to meet, greet and eat together once in a quarter, which is a piece of good fortune. Moreover, we have constituted various committees to undertake various social and welfare tasks as and when necessary. In brief MWS is purely social and welfare forum to serve the community and humanity.

6 Just to update community,,,,,,,,,,,,,, MWS Current Activities: 1. Assistance being provided to needy students of Private School and Madrassa Hifzul Quran. 2. Collecting and delivering unused medicines to Pakistan Welfare Society for their free medical camp take place every alternate Friday. If an one has unused medicines, please contact Mr. Mansour Shivani on or any other office bearers of the welfare society. 3. Collecting used clothes for poor and needy people in India and Pakistan. Four shipment have so far been dispatched to Pakistan and India. Another shipment is ready for dispatch, please deliver used clothes at Al Shifa Center for Fresh Chicken & Meat Opp Marhaba Super Market, Near Souk Minarah, Azizia,(Ahmed Kamal Makki Tel: / ). 4. Al Muslim Welfare Society in Karachi Pakistan who receives our used clothes shipment for onward distribution to poor & needy people, requested us for 100 blankets for poor families since winter has started. MWS has sent 100 blankets to them. 5. Helping very needy from Zakat fund, particularly paying the fee of poor students of Madrassa. 6. Upon demand of memon families residing in Riyadh, a gathering of memon families in Riyadh will take place soon insha Allah through our representative. 7. Some more activities community interest will be announced soon. 8. Winter break Family Get together took place last week. MWS Events/Programs in Near Future: 1. Family Gathering or family Picnic in some Istrah in north of Jeddah for the community to be held during winter months of January insha Allah. 2. An introductory session with office bearers of all welfare organization of Jeddah to take place soon. 3. An evening with celebrity 4. A MEGA EVENT ON THE OCCASION OF FITH YEAR OF MEMON WELFARE SOCIETY WILL BE CELBERATED IN FIRST QUARTER OF NEW YEAR THAT WILL INCLUDE VARIOUS PROGRAMS.

7 Brief Report of the Memon Families Get together held on 27 th December 2012 at Fine Grill Restaurant Azizia, Jeddah Saudi Arabia An event of Memon Families was held on 27 th December 2012 at newly opened Fine Grill Restaurant which was attended by His Excellency the Consul General Pakistan Mr. Abdul Salik Khan, Deputy Consul General Mr. Imran Ahmad Siddiqui, great scholar of our community Dr. M.Umer Chapra and other doctors, engineers, and businessmen of our community. The event begun with recitation of Holy Quran recited by Hafiz Osama M.Altaf Basheer and a Naat was presented by Ahmed Irfan Kolsawala. The event was attended by almost 450 persons, consisting of Ladies & Gentlemen (younger and elder). Mr. Arif Memon, President of Memon Welfare Society welcomed the special guests and other attendees of the event while Mr. Tayyab Moosani Gen. Secretary gave an introduction of dignitaries and presented a brief about welfare programs and activities of Memon welfare Society which was keenly paid attention by the consul general Pakistan and the audience. GS admired the role of H.E. the Consul General in uniting all welfare groups of Jeddah by arranging their gathering from time to time. No doubt his services will be remembered by the community all times. Then, the Consul General was invited to address and express his feelings about MWS. He applauded the activities and welfare services extended by MWS to the community. He also expressed his best wishes to MWS for completing 5 years of its existence which will be celebrated in first quarter of The Consul General announced that he will be saying goodbye to the community in Jeddah soon as he will be going back to Pakistan for new assignment. His Excellency served Consulate and the Community for almost 3 years. After his announcement of returning to Pakistan for good, the event turned into his farewell party. As per agreement with the restaurant, MWS did it s best to maintain quality of the event in all respects particularly in the quality of food. The dinner consisted of various dishes of delicious food that increased the value of the event and entire food was liked and praised by each and every participant. Almost 450 male & female members of our community attended the event. MWS deserves congratulation for holding such a great occasion for

8 Memon Families regardless of nationalities. We have received a magnificent feedback and appreciation about the event and upon request of the audience, we shall be holding another similar event in near future insha Allah. On the occasion of completing fifth years of MWS, Fine Grill Restaurant to offered MWS a complimentary cake of 5 Kilo in male and 5 kilo in female section. The cake cutting ceremony was performed by the good hands of H.E. Consul General and Dr. M.U.Chapra which gave a notion of commencement of celebration of 5 th Anniversary from now. Thereafter, the Dinner was served to the participant guests. Just before inviting guest to have Dinner, our major sponsors Mr. Mohammed Badee was requested by MWS to present a plaque as a token of appreciation to the Consul General and Mr. M. Jawed Tai was called to present a plaque to Deputy Consul General. At the same time two top scorer student of Matriculation Examination (i) Ahmed Irfan Kolsawala and (ii) Miss Omaima M. Altaf Basheer were given away Black Berry Cell Phone by Haji Younus Dhaddy and his wife respectively. Congratulation to them. In recognition of MWS welfare services, the owner of Jamil Restaurant, Mr. Shaukat Ali announced 50% discount on the grand dinner on the occasion of of 5 th anniversary of MWS. At last, on behalf of Memon Welfare Society, we wish to express congratulation and our heartiest gratitude to the community members for their support, assistance, help and participation to make the family event a GRAND SUCCESS. We believe, without community cooperation and support we could have never been able to achieve success, so credit of success goes to entire community. Our MWS team members deserve thanks for contributing their untiring efforts to make the last event great success. May Allah bless our Memon Community with unity, strength, generosity and prosperity. Since the Memon Matrimonial Website is under construction which might take time, we kindly request all those memon families whose children are grown up and they intend to look for OR waiting for match now or after some time, to submit very brief particulars about their children.
