3 S.S.C. MAHESH TUTORIALS Test - I Batch : SB Marks : 0 SANSKRIT (ENTIRE) Chapters :,, 5 Date : Time : hr. Grammar : Grammatical Explanation No., MODEL ANSWER PAPER Q.I. (A) Translate the following passages into English : (Any ) i) Thus a rift (separation) was produced between them both. Neither one stood nor spoke with the other. And (they) always stood far apart. Once the lion saw one bull grazing (wandering) alone. And having seen (this), he struck / attacked him and having torn (him) with the nails ate (him). Thereafter, having killed the second bull in the same way, he ate him too. Thus, both the friends were destroyed due to separation (rift). 3 Considering the words of the tiger to be trustworthy, that man also did (acted) accordingly. At that very moment, the bear who was awakened heard his speech, hanging from the branch of the tree, stayed there itself and said to that ungrateful man, Human beings are not trustworthy, thus (what) all animals say, is only true. Though I was capable of leaving you, you were not left by me. Henceforth, I shall not trust humans again. 3 (B) Translate the following verses into English : (Any ) i) Unity of men (people) with their own families though small, is beneficial. Even rice grains given up by the husk (chaff) do not grow (germinate). Between the beast (animal) and wicked man, the wicked man should be abandoned, (while) the animal is preferable. Animals should be protected, but not an ungrateful wicked person. i Knowledge is important but not (the knowledge which is) without action. Action is important but not (that which is) without knowledge (understanding). Therefore, good sucess (proper accomplishment) would be in both. Indeed, a bird with one wing does not go (fly).
4 Q.II. (A) Answer the following questions in English : (Any ) i) When the lion realised that the bulls were always together, he decided to create a rift between them. So he provoked the bulls to fight with each other. As a result, one bull hit the other so hard that blood started oozing out from his chest and so he went far away with pain. Thus, due to being hit by one bull the other bull s condition became pitiable. Enemies are the ones who criticize us and constantly find faults and trouble a person. If a person wishes to improve then he must first be aware of his drawbacks. Having enemies around, enables him to understand his short-comings and there-by take corrective measures to eliminate those faults. Generally, a person thinks that, he is the best or he is endowed with virtues. As a result, he becomes complacent. As the enemies point out faults, it gives the person an opportunity to change himself. peerjevleg ces Me$egieCeeë meowje ³es<eeb He meeoelmegefje e#eceesçnced ~ ³es ³es ³eLee ceeb He efleyeeoe³eefvle les les lelee ceeb He efleyeesoe³eefvle ~~ So the poet says, the more the enemies trouble, the more they teach and enlighten a person.
