5 Clustering 13 Clustering You have done some writing already this year, and you will be doing some more. Getting started can be the hardest part of writing. Clustering is a way to plan what you will write in your report. Clustering is a fun way of getting ready to write. First, write your main subject in a circle at the center of your paper. Then draw lines out from the circle and draw more circles. Inside these circles write things the main subject makes you think of. You may draw even more lines out from those words to tell more about them. Soon you will have a funny-looking, spiderwebby map all over the page. It may look confusing to others, but it will be helpful to you! You can use clustering to write your paragraph, report, or story because all of your ideas are right there. Study this example that uses the subject autumn. pretty colors cool burn them in bonfire bright blue sky weather Autumn leaves jump in the piles school starts new supplies play with friends new schoolbooks new teacher 48
