Birthday Prayer [BCP 830] Watch over thy child, O Lord, as his days increase; bless and guide him wherever he may be. Strengthen him when he stands; comfort him when discouraged or sorrowful; raise him up if he falls; and in his heart may thy peace which passeth understanding abide all the days of his life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Anniversary Prayer [BCP 431] O God, you have so consecrated the covenant of marriage that in it is represented the spiritual unity between Christ and his Church: Send therefore your blessing upon these your servants, that they may so love, honor, and cherish each other in faithfulness and patience, in wisdom and true godliness, that their home may be a haven of blessing and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. Town Hall October 22 nd, 8:45 a.m. - Parish Hall. Brunch which includes Vestry and Delegate elections. As well as a presentation by Father Brendan, Stepping Up and Out: Our Road Forward. What is your occupation and how would your gifts and experiences contribute to the functioning of the vestry? I am a retired teacher of art in the Angleton School District. Working with all personalities was a necessary skill. 2. Our parish s mission is to invite and welcome all people to connect and grow in Christ while loving, serving and sharing with our community. What does this statement mean to you personally? I feel that Jesus asks us to invite and welcome all to worship Him. 3. What would you consider to be the top priority for St. Timothy s in this season of our parish s common life? The community should know by our actions all are welcome here in His House only then will we grow. Susan Laver: 1. What is your occupation and how would your gifts and experiences contribute to the functioning of the vestry? My occupation is Photographer, Owner of Heartfelt Photography. Through my experiences with my business and past employment as Office Manager of Orthodontic Assistant I enjoy people and especially children and their smiles. It is important to make people comfortable and happy in their church environment. 2. Our parish s mission is to invite and welcome all people to connect and grow in Christ while loving, serving and sharing with our community. What does this statement mean to you personally? As our mission we should connect with the people of this community who are unchurched but also stay in communion with those churched as well. We should be a part of the ministries of other churches. 3. What would you consider to be the top priority for St. Timothy s in this season of our parish s common life? To connect our members through communication and activities that make them feel part of our parish community.
5 Christopher Eddy: 1. What is your occupation and how would your gifts and experiences contribute to the functioning of the vestry? I am a senior R&D leader in polyethylene plastics. Key roles include helping to identify and set R&D priorities through my work with various business and organizational leaders. I also lead teams to optimize production rates, reduce raw material use, and implement new research. I am frequently asked to help achieve consensus despite very diverse opinions of leaders and team members. I think my background as an organizational team leader would be helpful in a vestry role to help us come together for a common vision to serve God. 2. Our parish s mission is to invite and welcome all people to connect and grow in Christ while loving, serving and sharing with our community. What does this statement mean to you personally? The intent of the Invite-Welcome-Connect team is to help ensure our church is inviting others from the community to try St. Timothy s out, ensure they feel welcomed when they do attend and try it out, and then to help them get connected in social circles and doing the work of the church. I have been leading a group of St. Timothy s members for over three years now that has worked to help in this effort. My relationship with God has changed my life and I think it is important that we help others make that connection so they may make that same connection and in doing so may be changed themselves enabling them to find greater peace to begin serving others in need. I love my church and fellow parishioners and I think it is something that should be shared with others. I also want to see our church continue to thrive and grow. I support the mission and vision that was created last year. Of the vision elements (shown below), I would choose item 3 regarding missional outreach as the biggest priority. I have felt the touch of God s healing hands and I know that there are many in our world who are in need of the same thing. 3. What would you consider to be the top priority for St. Timothy s in this season of our parish s common life? 1. Create additional and varied worship opportunities to accommodate various needs, interests and lifestyles. 2. Hire paid staff for Christian formation and youth ministry to help develop a variety of formation offering for all ages that are innovative and interactive. 3. Examine our missional outreach efforts to edit and create focused and impactful opportunities. 4. Expand Compassionate Callers and other pastoral care ministries so that no St. Timothy's member in need is left out. 5. Develop a protocol for communication utilizing all modes and platforms of communication based on audience and need. 6. Create more opportunities for intentional and meaningful relationship building.
