OCTOBER 2, NOVEMBER 3, 1584 Archbishop of Milan, Cardinal- Priest of the Title of St. Prassede Papal Secretary of State under Pius IV, and one of the chief leaders in the Catholic Counter-Reformation He was born in the Castle of Arona, a town on the southern shore of the Lago Maggiore in northern Italy, October 2, 1538; died at Milan, November 3, His emblem is the word humilitas crowned, which is a portion of the Borromeo shield. He is usually represented in art in his cardinal's robes, barefoot, carrying the cross as archbishop; a rope round his neck, one hand raised in blessing, thus recalling his work during the plague. His feast is kept on 4 November. St. Charles is the patron saint of learning and the arts. DONATIONS FOR HYGIENE PRODUCTS Many of our local school children, particularly those in junior high and high school are lacking access to basic hygiene products. We all know the teen years are difficult enough to navigate under the best circumstances. Can you just imagine what it might be like for someone who is trying to do so without having basic hygiene products? We are asking for your help. Would you please consider donating a full size product? Items needed are shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, lotion, feminine products, tooth paste, shaving cream, after shave and safety razors. Donation boxes will be set up until December 3rd. We are truly humbled by the generosity of our community. Any questions, contact Dee at Thank you for your continued support! 2018 GIVING TREE MINISTRY Very soon it will be time to set up our Christmas Giving Tree in the narthex and begin to bring hope and joy to all of our children. There is always a great need for help in fulfilling the special wishes for toys and clothing of so many children in our community. Assuredly the parishioners of St. Charles and Inter-Lakes Christmas Fund volunteers stand ever so ready to make this ministry a spectacular success again. Our Giving Tree will be erected in the narthex on Saturday, November 17 and decorated with 150 white angels containing the Christmas wishes of local children. Please choose one or more angels, purchase the item or items listed, and return them to the Giving Tree NO LATER THAN 11:30 ( after 10:30 Mass ) on Sunday, December 2. All gifts MUST be deposited under the tree by that date to be prepared for distribution to the proper families. We realize that some of the items wished for can be costly, such as electronics, so we suggest that the cost be shared by more than one benefactor. When returning the purchased, UNWRAPPED gift, please remember to attach the angel to it so that it can find its way to the correct child. If you can supply wrapping materials as well, that would be much appreciated. If you can t help this year, please accept our deep appreciation for your assistance in the past as well as our best wishes for you and your family.
