Vol XXVI1, Number 4 Crosspoint Emmaus Newsletter April 2015 Page 2 Thank you Crosspoint Emmaus community for your prayers and communication regarding our name tags. You'll be pleased to know that Billy Bean at R&R Trophy is now supplying our name tags at nearly half the price as our previous supplier. This will help us keep our weekend expenses low. Billy is a long time member of our Crosspoint Emmaus community. If you ever have need of a new name tag please contact me and I will be happy to place an order. The current version of nametag we are using is a Rooster that is dark meat. The cost of a replacement name tag is $7.25 payable when you pick up your new name tag. Don't forget to pray for the pilgrims, team members and their families. The walk weekends will be here before we know it. Katie Byrne, Registrar I sit here on an icy, February day, with my life somewhat on hold. This is much different from years of experience maintaining highways. On days like this I made sure that I was at work, doing all that I could to try to make highways safe for the public. During winter storms we seemed to operate in a reactionary mode. We frantically gathered information about weather and road conditions, combined with the operational condition of equipment and availability of personnel. Each operator was desperately working on their route, each county maintenance district was busy watching over their responsibilities, each field division was evaluating their jurisdictions, and the state office was monitoring the whole picture. Each unit had their own focus, concerns, and understanding of their assignment. Crews and managers became keenly aware of purpose and took great pride in their effort to provide a critical service..each unit is keenly aware of their purpose To provide a critical service.

Vol XXVI1, Number 4 Crosspoint Emmaus Newsletter April 2015 Page 3 Snow and Ice removal operations require preplanning. Based on experience deicing materials are ordered, equipment is readied, and personnel are trained. As the season approaches, weather forecast are monitored and when conditions indicate, resources are stationed for deployment. For the most part all that the public sees is a plow or spreader maneuvering down the highway. Some drivers are pleased to see the assistance and others become disappointed for being slowed down or because their route is not cleared to suite their schedule. Plow and spreader operators become disappointed when they are not appreciated but, they go on proud of their efforts to serve and doing their best...disappointed when they are not appreciated, but, they go on.doing their best... at you, including the blizzard rolling over the top of your own plow. Can you imagine a disciple fighting the spiritual forces of evil with little or no preseason preparations? As I draw this article to a close I recall how we could throw every resource we had at the storm and make such a minimal impact. However, when the sun came out unbelievable progress would be made. All the plows had left to do, with the sun shining, was clean up. But, we always knew it was still our responsibility to try as hard as we could, regardless of the conditions. People are counting on us. And yes, until they experience the light of the Son, we may witness very little progress. But, we are called to do everything we can to make whatever difference we can for the cause of Christ. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Praise the Lord! Pastor Jeff Hiller Regardless of conditions... People are counting on us... Could this story be a parable for Christian disciples? Even when it would be more cozy to stay home, out of the hazards of the natural Discipleship sometimes is a cruise looking for ice...sometimes hazardous... world, are we called to make every effort to be there to serve? Discipleship sometimes is a cruise looking for ice to accumulate and sometimes it is hazardous duty, blinded by everything the storm throws

Vol XXVI1, Number 4 Crosspoint Emmaus Newsletter April 2015 Page 4 Submitted by Lisa Gipson, Board Secretary The Cross Point Emmaus Board met on March 14 th in Ardmore at Colvert Ministry Center. The meeting followed the last training for the inside team and adjourned before the Hands and Feet team training began. Excitement was in the air as the teams were winding down the trainings and making final preparations for the upcoming walks. The devotional was given by Candy Sherbert in David Teeman s absence. Candy read Matt 7:1-5. Do not judge. Am I showing God s Grace to everyone? The treasurer s report was given by Tem, and the board read over it and approved it. The Board received reports from the departments that were present. So far, for the upcoming walks, we have 13 men and 15 women signed up! Katie, our registrar is expecting more! We have found a local provider for our nametags that will keep our cost down. Candy has received some donations for snacks. We still need to help out in that area for the walks. Please sign-up or donate. All other departments are gearing up for the upcoming walks! The meeting was adjourned and the Hands and Feet team training commenced, followed by food and then the community gathered in the newly renovated sanctuary of Ardmore s FUMC. We were very Blessed by Ardmore FUMC allowing us to gather in their beautiful sanctuary!

Vol XXVI1, Number 4 Crosspoint Emmaus Newsletter April 2015 Page 5 The April Gathering is at No need to give you an address. Don t need to draw a map either! (unless you were blindfolded both ways!) Isn t it refreshing to know that everyone that is a part of this community knows where this particular place is? All of us have common roots, and this one of them! There is no need to express what is going to be happening because we all already know that too! It is a highlight of our Emmaus experience and as Jesus said with the cup and bread, Do this in remembrance of me. We do! It s all about Him! What a blessed experience we have waiting at this gathering! Food? Sure! Feel free to bring food and there will be food! Anyone that can t bring something, no worries, consider the Manna. There was always enough! As we all fellowship together, remember what Jesus says in Matthew 18:20 For wherever two or three are assembled in my name, I am there with them." The fullness of Christ through His Holy Spirit felt in the presence in the Body of Christ!. Jesus, Jesus, can I tell you how I feel?. Dan Patman will be bringing a special message you will not want to miss! The Emmaus experience is not a one-time experience, we have a 4th day mission in this world and discipleship opportunities to encounter! The Board feels that this is a safe number to insure that there is enough. Interestingly, seventy has a sacred meaning in the Bible. 70 is made up of the factors of two perfect numbers, seven (representing perfection) and ten (representing completeness and God's law). So, 70, the number itself tells us why! For fun, look up other references of 70 in the bible! Your donations of Snack Agape and/or a monetary donation if you don t have time to get to grocery store will be gladly accepted by Candy Sherbert your Snack Agape Board Member! 6 Vol XXVI1, Number 4 Crosspoint Emmaus Newsletter When I walked in I thought, This room is filled! As I gazed, I beheld the Sunlight radiating through the Stained Glass window. It was illuminating the room with its picture of the Holy Spirit descending from Heaven as a dove. My thought continued,.indeed, this room IS filled... with the Holy Spirit! Can you see it? April 2015 Thank you for your hospitality Page 6

So he went in to stay with them. 30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?
