1 The Trinity Times April 2017 Volume 18 Keeping you informed of the timely happenings, news, Mission and ministry of Trinity Christian Church A Word from Terry Where there is no vision the people perish. Proverbs 29:18 "Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you." Mt. 28:7 There was a lot of "going and telling" on that first Resurrection morning. Many who heard the news no doubt found it hard to believe. The accounts given in the scriptures are thrilling to read of the reactions people had to the risen Lord. I like the record that the apostle Paul gives us in regard to all the people that Jesus appeared to after His Resurrection: 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 7 then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; 8 and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, and not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed. I Corinthians 15:3-9 We are to be able to intelligently and confidently give a defense for the hope that is within us as to why we believe Jesus came back to life. Knowing these references is important. We can show people the factual accounts found in the Bible as to all the people who were able to see Jesus alive after the Resurrection. John the apostle gave us these words of conviction to convey as well: From the very first day, we were there, taking it all in we heard it with our own ears, saw it with our own eyes, verified it with our own hands. The Word of Life appeared right before our eyes; we saw it happen! And now we re telling you in most sober prose that what we witnessed was, incredibly, this: The infinite Life of God himself took shape before us. I John 1:1-2 Ours is not a blind faith my friends. As we prepare to celebrate our Lord's suffering, death and glorious resurrection, be committed to "going and telling" in your own circle of influence. Show them these passages of absolute truth. Help the doubting Thomas's of our day to no longer be unbelieving but believe! Please take note of our special times and services for celebrating Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday! You will find the information in this newsletter. Invite your family and friends to come with you and celebrate the fact that we serve a Risen Savior! Until He comes - Terry

4 Page 4 Good Friday services will be held at Trinity on Friday, April 14th at 7:30 p.m. This year our Jr/Sr High School youth will be presenting our Good Friday services. We encourage you to come support them as we spend time remembering the sacrifice made by our Lord and Savior. A special communion service will conclude the program. Easter Sunday Services Sunrise Services will be held at 7:30 a.m. this year followed by our Easter breakfast. Please note that there will NOT be an early service on Easter morning. Our Sunday School hour will be moved up to 9:00 a.m. and our main worship service will be held at 10:00 a.m. By making these slight time changes, we hope to encourage more to join us for a full morning of worshipping our risen Lord and Savior. We will be celebrating the resurrection of our Lord with a Sunrise Service at 7:30 a.m. on Easter morning. For those of you who have never joined us for a Sunrise Service in past years, the service last approximately minutes. It consists of the reading of appropriate scriptures and singing such Resurrection Sunday hymns such as He is Lord and Christ the Lord is Risen Today. The service is held outside, weather permitting. At the conclusion of the service, some of our men will be serving a wonderful breakfast in the fellowship hall. Plan now to join us for this special time of celebration! And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name. -- Romans 1:4-5 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11

5 Page 5 Daughters of the Heavenly King Mother/Daughter Brunch The annual Mother/Daughter Brunch is Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 11:00-1:30 pm. The theme this year is Daughters of the Heavenly King. Participants are encouraged to dress as Queens, Princesses, or Royalty of some kind. Our theme spotlights the fact that we are daughters of the King of Kings and Lords of Lords! This is always a fun event, so we hope you plan to attend! The signup sheets have been placed on the table by the main sanctuary doors. Again, there will be an opportunity for men to help serve the ladies, and an opportunity to bring food to share. Signup sheets for both of these opportunities are there along with one for anyone intending to come and bring any guests. Please sign up so we plan for each person coming! The Kingdom Kids will sing praises, so it s important to indicate if your child(ren) will be coming. Other special music will be part of our program. Activities will include a Photo Booth that will provide opportunities for Mothers and daughters to have their pictures taken! A Parade of Royalty will also take place. Of course, there will be a devotional pertaining to our theme. Thank you for your attention to this event. We hope you will plan to join us for fun and fellowship! Attention Parents of Graduates! We will be recognizing all of our graduating Seniors on Sunday, May 14th during both of our morning services. Please plan to join us as we acknowledge this milestone in the lives of our youth! As is our custom, we will be featuring our Seniors in our May edition of Trinity Times. We want to make sure your graduate is given their due recognition so we ask that you provide us a copy of your graduates senior photo along with a brief write up of plans post graduation. Please give this material to Garlynn no later than April 19th. They may be given to her in person or via at shadowlynn1958@yahoo.com. Thank you! For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11

10 Trinity Christian Church State Highway 2 Decatur, IA (641) Contact Us Terry (641) (Home) (641) (Cell) One by One The ministry of Wilckly (Kiki) and Dee (Mdme Kiki) Dorce is a daily endeavor among the Haitian people. The Dorce s share the following description of their work and ministry: We live in the village of Carries. Our ministries include a medical clinic, several Christian churches, six Christian schools, and outreaches to many other Christian churches in the mountains and surrounding areas (15 churches in total). Our goal is to encourage those in the churches and help better equip and train those already in the area how to best serve those churches. Our goal with the schools is of course to help them learn to read and write. Our main goal however is to take advantage of the great freedom we have to share Christ boldly right in the classroom. Our goal is to win others to Christ.one by one. It seems ironic that after such a tumultuous monsoon season Haiti can experience drought. But the dry season is in full swing, and weeks have passed since we ve seen a drop of rain. God s Word talks about dry seasons a lot: James tells us that when Elijah (under God s approval) prayed that there would be no rain, there wasn t any for 3 ½ years! Naomi s family left Israel because of a drought/famine. Jacob s family had to beg for food in Egypt because of a famine as well. But God was still working through all these hard times. He used Elijah s drought to remind His people of His power and sovereignty. Without the famine, Naomi would never have met Ruth, who became a direct ancestor of King David! Unless their land had suffered, Joseph s brothers would never have found him again, nor would their people have survived. And even though we may have to endure dry seasons, whether in life, ministry, finances, or other areas, we can be sure that God is still there, still moving, still doing. Trinity supports the Dorce s on a monthly basis but they need your help as well. As you can see from their above report, they have undertaken an enormous task! They have also recently hired 4 new 7th grade teachers. For $100 a month, you can sponsor one of their 10 teachers, making it possible for Blessing Hearts to keep them all on staff and for their schools to keep functioning at their best! They are also seeking sponsors for the hundreds of children they work with on a daily basis some whose only meal is often what they receive at school! For $40 a month, you can help them provide a child with a Christian education and a better way of life. They also continue to rebuild many of their structures that were damaged during the past hurricane season and to make repairs on their backhoe that that is needed on the majority of their building projects. You can see more about these needs and others at their website: blessingheartsinternational.com. Dee will be with us as a guest speaker at VBS this year. We look forward to additional up-dates on their work during that time of sharing!
