1 Autumn Programme Series the greatest good that mortals know, and all of heaven we have below. A series on the power of music 2nd day evening of the month 10, 8, 12, 10 7pm to 9pm Repeated on the following day,, th, 10.30am to 12.30pm The 18th century English poet and essayist, Joseph Addison, described music as the greatest good that mortals know, and all of heaven we have below. In this autumn series of illustrated talks, we will be thinking about the power of music to move us intellectually, emotionally and spiritually and how sacred music has developed (especially in church liturgy) over the last 2000 years. These talks are for anyone who has an interest in music, including musicians or singers. Come and explore, in a safe, reflective space how your eye and hands, heart and mind can tap into this abundant source of energy, uniquely yours. No need of previous experience with art-making. Just a willingness to be surprised and maybe get your hands a bit dirty! Materials provided. Deirdre McConnell is an art therapist who is passionate about art, God, and creating a safe space for you to explore reflections, feelings, and prayers through making art, believing everyone can be artistic even if you think you aren't. Paint and Pray your way into Advent Friday, 30 ember 10am 4pm A day of learning to prayerfully express yourself with paint. We will explore Advent themes, spending time together in discussion and working/painting/praying alone. No previous painting experience needed as materials will be provided and some tuition will be given on the day. No masterpieces expected, just a fresh engagement with God. Throughout our studies we see the continuity of the scriptures, trying to appreciate the people of faith who have passed them on to us and looking at how we can live the significance of that word to us today in our modern world. : Who Counts? Looking at The parables of Jesus, Who counts in the eyes of God? - : Dare to be a Daniel Dragons, mystery stories, daring acts of bravery. See the Book of Daniel in a new light. Sister Teresa Brittain is a member of the Congregation of Our Lady of Sion and has a passion for the Word of God and Jewish Christian relations. Marie Pattison is director of Katherine House. 6 Christian Meditation Last day of the month :00am - 12:00 noon We host a Christian Meditation Group. Each session comprises a short reading, some reflective music and twenty minutes silent meditation, concluding with a little music and a brief reading. For day events, please bring a packed lunch and eat together in our dining room. The suggested donation for attending an event is usually 5 (for morning/ afternoon/evening sessions) or (all-day). Cost should not stop you attending - please give what you can afford. Please book in advance. We need to know numbers so we can prepare for you. This also means you avoid disappointment if an event is full, and it ensures we have your details should an event need to be cancelled for any reason. If there are no bookings, an event will not go ahead. You are welcome to ring on the day to see if a late booking is possible, but we can t guarantee it. Its a bit like those things; but it's a group who come together to work out ideas about their faith journey with respect and open-mindedness - to have Holy Conversations. In we are going to start discussing Things Hidden: Scripture as Spirituality by Fr Richard Rohr. This might take this season or go on to the next too. Join us and find out.
