1 September 9, 2018 Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost Watchwords for the Week I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God all my life long. Psalm 146:2 Welcome to our service of worship for this sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost - the season of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit was sent by the Risen Lord, Jesus Christ, to supply the church with everything needed to serve Him faithfully until the day of His return. As we worship today, let us pray for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit upon ourselves, our church, our community, nation and world. May more and more people everywhere hear and respond to the Good News - that Jesus is the Way; the Truth; the Life; the only source of salvation. If you are visiting with us today we are especially glad you re here. Please take a moment to add your name, address and phone number to the Friendship Register as it passed down the pew. We consider you an honored guest and hope that you will return and worship with us in the weeks to come. If you are looking for a church home we would love to talk to you about joining the Friedberg church family. Please silence all cell phones before worship. Prelude The Power of Your Love Arr. Hymn Jesus Is Lord Of All (Burgandy) p. 599 Benediction Postlude O How I Love Jesus Whitfield The flowers in the sanctuary today are given to the glory of God and in memory of Ruth Jackson s birthday. They are given by her children Debbie James and Gary Jackson. The family of Sue Carter would like to thank all of those who showed kindness and support to us during her last days. For the prayers, visits, cards, and food, we are especially grateful. The love, encouragement, and guidance of Pastor Jim and Pastor Dan went above and beyond. And the Band added a beautiful touch to the graveside service. How blessed we have been by our brothers and sisters in Christ! Are you interested in an in-depth Bible study and fellowship with a group of fellow believers? We are considering beginning another season of our Monday night Bible study but want to see if there is an interest. If you would like to participate please contact Jennifer Boles, jenniferjaneboles@gmail.com or Plan now to join us for Back to Church Sunday on September 16. Once again Friedberg will be participating with other churches throughout our nation for National Back to Church Sunday. Please consider who you can invite: neighbors, friends, co-workers and family members. Our theme this year is You Belong Here. Cub Scout Pack 703 would like to invite boys in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade to come out and see what Cub Scouting is all about! We will be holding an information meeting and ice cream social here at the church on Monday, September 10th at 7:00 pm in the Family Life Center. If you've ever wanted to learn more about Cub Scouts and would like to get your son involved please join us. For more information, please contact our Cubmaster Marty Hubbard at hubb1972@gmail.com. Please place all hymnals in the pew racks before you leave. Thank you.

Moravian Ministry Voyage Saturday, September 15, :30 p.m. 4:00 p.m. Advent Moravian Church. Provincial agencies will gather in an information fair culminated by a full production of Irene: the Adventure Begins! This event will be for all ages as we trace our roots back to the beginnings of Moravian missions. The ministry fair will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The play will be at 2:00 p.m. John Leonard Dober and David Nitschman are names you may not readily recognize. Dober was a potter and David a carpenter. These were ordinary occupations for two extraordinary men whose adventure shaped the Moravian Church as it is today. In 1732, they left the security of their jobs and families and became the first Moravian missionaries. It was not an easy task but they answered the call to come and minister the gospel to us. Friedberg s Sean Tatman is playing the role of Count Zinzendorf in the production so please make plans to attend. Their purpose in life was to follow the Lamb who had given His life for them and for all the souls of the world. This year the Moravian Church Southern Province is celebrating this historic event by hosting a modern Moravian Ministry Voyage. Friedberg s Family Retreat Weekend at Laurel Ridge/Higgins Lodge is October 19 - October 21, The study for the weekend is Guardrails and features Pastor Andy Stanley. There is also Guardrails for Kids. The cost of the retreat is based on the size of your family and a $75 deposit is required at registration. Youth attending the weekend will stay in the Bishop Wing at Higgins Lodge and their deposit is $45. Registration will be held in the parlor every Sunday after worship until October 14 or until the rooms are sold out! All parents who have a child in children's church will be required to physically come down to the AV room on the first floor of the Family Life Center and sign their child out before they are released at the end of worship. Women and men are invited to join the Women s Fellowship for the chicken pie preparation workdays for the Fall Chicken Pie Country Ham Supper on Tuesday, October 2, Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 6. We will begin each morning at 8:00 a.m. with a fellowship breakfast.
