8 ONE BY ONE SUMMER ART SHOW The Art Gallery Committee is most grateful for the support that everyone gave to our Summer 2015 Show featuring the artistic endeavours of our congregation and friends, and through this, to Youth Unlimited's Create and Believe program for underprivileged girls. We had an exciting opening reception and sale, and are happy to report that there are still works of art for sale for those who missed last Sunday's action. And if your walls are full, please know that any donations to Create and Believe would be much appreciated. There is a donation box in the gallery. And last but not least, to our many artists - thank you for making it all happen. We hope you had fun and that it is just the beginning for those who met the canvas for the first time! Show continues till August 14th. YOUTH MINISTRY We will be having Doxa through the summer, on an every other week basis. The dates for Doxa are July 5th and 19th, August 9th and 23rd. We will also be having one social event per month, but the dates and activities of those are not set up just yet. Wow! You have given to the Squeaky Clean CHILDREN S MISSION PROJECT 2015 We thank you for providing hygiene kits for refugee families in Lebanon We are delighted to report that to date you have given a total of $9819 to distribute hygiene kits to 393 families to encourage them. These gifts will help with family hygiene and be a tangible way that we can share God s love. May 24th marked the close of the mission project. If you have forgotten to bring your gift, please give the funds today so they can be sent to Lebanon to purchase the kits. CHILDREN S MINISTRIES What s Up in Children s Ministries Each week in this space we will let you know what our kids are learning so you can pray for them and encourage them! First Look (Preschool and Kindergarten) The monthly theme for June is God s way is perfect. and the memory verse is: God s way is perfect. 2 Samuel 22:31, NIrV. This week the children will learn about God makes a promise to never cover the world with water again and makes a rainbow as a symbol of His promise taken from Genesis 8:1 9: Basics (Grades 1 to 5) The monthly theme is Conviction standing for what is right even when others don t. The memory verse is, Don t ever get tired of doing the right thing 2Thess 3:13, NIrV. This week s lesson is called, No Train, No Gain, the story taken from Daniel 1. The bottom line we want children to learn is, When you know what God says, it can help you stand for what s right. Looking ahead: We will be having our summer kids camps at the church from July 20 to 24. There are six spots left in the morning Bible camp G-Force. Registration forms are available on the website or from Miriam. The afternoon art camp is now full. If you have questions about Children s Ministries speak to Miriam Little

The church membership had not been touched directly by the war to this date, but for those who remembered the children of the former Pastor, John D. Freeman, and this announcement foretold what was to come. Word has just been received that Lance-Corporal William Darkin Freeman, the youngest son of our former pastor [John D. Freeman[1]], was killed in action in Belgium on May 15 th. He enlisted for service on August 5 th last, the day after war was declared. He was eighteen years and six months of age and would have received his commission as Lieutenant had he been spared a few days longer. The sympathy of the church will go out to Mr. and Mrs. Freeman, who write: We thank God for our dear boy s beautiful life, and we regard his heroic death as a precious sacrifice on behalf of the liberties of mankind. [6 June 1915] Such sentiments were common at the beginning of the war; they were not to last. We remember today Lance Corporal William Darkin Freeman, aged
