First Reading: Psalm 1 1 The truly happy person doesn t follow wicked advice, doesn t stand on the road of sinners, and doesn t sit with the disrespectful. 2 Instead of doing those things, these persons love the LORD s Instruction, and they recite God s Instruction day and night! 3 They are like a tree replanted by streams of water, which bears fruit at just the right time and whose leaves don t fade. Whatever they do succeeds. 4 That s not true for the wicked! They are like dust that the wind blows away. 5 And that s why the wicked will have no standing in the court of justice neither will sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 The LORD is intimately acquainted with the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked is destroyed. 6 News for the Pews Lifelong Learning: Book Study Tuesday Evening, 6-7:30 pm Come join us as we share together the ideas and questions we're finding in Diana Butler Bass's book, Grounded: Finding God in the World, A Spiritual Revolution. You don't have to come to all the sessions, but reading the book will help you figure out where we are when you're able to be here. If you would like to know more about the Book Study, let Kate O'Dell know ( ; or ksdo@gci.net). She can send you the syllabus and share what we've discovered so far. Creating Liturgia The Liturgia group that meets on Thursdays at 10:00 am is making soup luncheons following each gathering. Our next project will be creating gifts for teachers at one of our neighboring schools. Join in, bring your own ideas, and share some lunch. Game Night Game Night will take place on Friday, September 28 at 6:00 pm. Bring yourself, bring a friend, and bring your favorite game. Also, feel free to bring a snack to share. Fall Faire This annual event is just around the corner! The Fall Faire will take place Saturday, October 6, downstairs in Cary Mead Hall. The Hall will be filled with vendors offering a variety of treasures; collectibles, baked goods, hand-knit winter warmers, record albums, CDs, artwork, holiday décor, and so much more. Lunch of homemade soup and bread will be available from 11 ) am to 2:00 pm. Beverages and baked goods will be available all day. 6

Please keep the congregation and their new minister in your prayers -All teachers, aides, staff, & volunteers who educate our children -First responders, who risk their lives to save ours -Our military serving at home and abroad -All the peacekeepers, all those who serve our community, and all those in need within our community. -Public servants, lawmakers, and politicians, that they will make thoughtful decisions in care of the common good. -Our community members who struggle with addiction -People who we are in conflict with. 7
