2 Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish at Our Lady of Loreto Church September 23, 2018 Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish at Our Lady of Loreto Church PRAYER FOR PARISH SPIRITUAL RENEWAL Lord God, You love us with an everlasting love, and You choose us to share Your love with others. We ask that You rekindle in our hearts a new spirit of faith, of prayer and of reconciliation. Inspire us to search out and find ways of bringing one another closer to You. We pray for all who form our parish community, that we remain faithful to Your teaching, that we remain steadfast in our prayer, both personal and communal, that together with You and the Holy Spirit, our parish may be renewed and transformed. All this we ask in the name of Jesus and through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Please cut out and pray daily. Dear Friends, FROM THE PASTOR S DESK I want to share with you that we have received a gift from the Nancy Marie Isernio Estate in the amount of $5,000. We are grateful to Nancy and her family for this generous gift. We have begun work this past Thursday on repairing Loreto church buildings electrical system. Our electrical contractor has told us the repair should take less than two weeks and the roof does not have to be removed. All work can be done interiorly. I want to thank John Oliver for overseeing this project, as well as the replacement of roofs on our parish buildings. His assistance was critical to getting these repairs completed and I am grateful. (Grade 9 and Grade 10.) Students who attend parochial schools only need to attend one year of CCD. CATHOLIC SCHOOLS APPEAL Dear friends in Christ, September 20, 2018 Why choose a Catholic School given all the choices that are available today? While we take pride in our quality academics, in developing physical and teamwork skills in sports, and in being involved in community service, one thing stands out above all else: children can encounter Christ in all aspects of a Catholic School experience. The Catholic education each child receives is rooted in an understanding of the human person as made in the image and likeness of God who is the true source of human dignity. The mission of Catholic Schools is an integral part of the mission of the Catholic Church. In the Sacrament of Matrimony, parents vow to raise their children in the Catholic faith. There is no better opportunity to do so than in a Catholic School where teachers, staff and volunteers alike give witness to the faith every day, both in and out of the classroom. I invite you to review this year s Catholic Schools Appeal report available online at and in The Catholic Free Press and recognize how Catholic Schools are performing a vital service to the entire Church and how we need the support of everyone to carry on our mission. In order to share the Good News story of Catholic schools we rely on those of you who have received a Catholic education first-hand or have witnessed the benefits of a Catholic education in the graduates you have come to know. We owe it to future generations to be able to encounter Christ in the classroom. Thank you for prayerfully considering how you can be part of this commitment. With every prayerful best wish, I remain Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Robert J. McManus Bishop of Worcester VISITATION HOUSE BABY BOTTLE DRIVE Thank you for taking most of the 150 baby bottles for the benefit of Visitation House, a Catholic home for homeless women facing crisis pregnancies. Please support Visitation House by filling the baby bottle with your spare change, bills or checks. There are still a few bottles left to take for this worthy cause. Bottles may be brought back anytime between now and the weekend of Oct. 27/28. These bottle drives are the main source of income for Visitation House and all are invited to help.

Prayerfully Improving your Mass experience In the August issue of Magnificat magazine, Father Peter John Cameron, O.P. offers a nice reflection on how we can improve our Mass experience, especially at times when we are feeling dry spiritually. He begins: Not long ago, a devout young man approached me with a problem that really distressed him. He went to Mass every day, but there were some days and this he was almost ashamed to admit when he didn t feel like going. We, too, may have gone through a spiritual rough patch like that from time to time. How can we deal with it? The Prayer of the Faithful Lord Jesus, even though I m stuck in desolation, please let me hand myself over to you, serving those in need. May my misery make me more mindful of those who suffer, and more solicitous, in assisting them. No matter how dismal my day, let me be a person for others, bearing their burdens. May I console others with the same consolation I receive from you. Sixth in a Series of 11 NOTRE DAME ACADEMY OPEN HOUSE Notre Dame Academy s Open House for prospective students will be held on Sunday, October 21st from 2-4 pm. What the presenters add to the talks is the witness of their own lives, their struggles and triumphs in Christ. The weekend is full of laughter, prayer, great music, wonderful meals and so much more.
