6 WELCOME People from all over the world come to the Iowa City area each year for things such as school, healthcare and employment. We have a great opportunity to welcome the nations through our home, neighborhood, church and workplace. Here s a few upcoming events to welcome those from other countries: 1. Pre-Thanksgiving Celebration Saturday, November 11th at 4:00PM Bring an international student, host, or join a group already attending. The evening includes a light Thanksgiving dinner in a home of an American, followed by a program/dessert at Grace Community Church with an explanation of Thanksgiving. Meet once a month to learn, share lives and experience blessing. FIS provides international students with an opportunity to learn about life in the U.S.A. and acquaints local community members with life in other countries. FIS is organized by community volunteers. Sudan Party - Community Group and Individual Volunteers Friday, January 19, 2018 at Parkview Church Volunteer are needed to help with nursery, elementary, JH/HS programming and befriending Sudanese/American adults. Team size 10. $2,500 China May 14-June 14, 2017 Teach English Activity classes and lead Bible studies on the campus of our exchange-partner university in Wuhan, China. College +. Team size 16. $2,500 Belize July 14-22, 2018 Construction and partnering with local church outreach.
