So says Billy Wilson in the forward for Praying For A Christ Awakening. He goes on to write, hidden to many but known to God is the story of the Huguenot martyrs of Matanzas Inlet, near present-day St. Augustine. There the Spaniards drew a line in the sand, declaring that if the Huguenots stepped across it, refusing to renounce their Protestant faith, they would die. Two different groups totaling 245 men stepped across the line to their deaths The Protestant leader, Jean Ribault, was among those martyred that day. But just before his death, history records that he quoted Psalm 132. Part of that Psalm states: I will not enter my house or go to my bed, I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids, till I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob. (Ps. 132:3-5) Are you one of those who need to awaken from a spiritual slumber? Has God stirred your heart so that life cannot go on as usual until the work of God has been accomplished? MARCH FOR LIFE Sunday, October 3rd the annual Memorial Service commemorating the death of 367 babies killed by abortion in Fort Wayne this past year. These are the little boys and girls killed each Thursday at the Women s Health Organization. The Memorial service begins at 2 PM in the Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Avenue. Our service is non-denominational and all are invited to attend. This is a beautiful and meaningful service and it will last one hour. ATTENTION YOUNG MARRIEDS! Our monthly get-together is starting up again! Get your sitters lined up. Our group begins at Greg & Terri Sonner, 2535 E 700 N on Saturday, October 2nd at 7 pm. HOPE CLINIC VOLUNTEER TRAINING The Hope Clinic will be holding volunteer training sessions on Tuesday, October 12 and Mondays October 25, November 8, and November 22 in our Decatur office. Call between 10 AM and 5 PM at on Mondays and Wednesday or on Tuesdays and Thursdays for information and an application. The Hope Clinic needs volunteers like you to make a difference-one life at a time! 5TH SUNDAY BRUNCH OCTOBER 31st Sunday, October 31st 4-6 PM at the Court House Sign up in the lobby to be a part of Trunk or Treat sponsored by Decatur Ministers Association. Fellowship with each other and share God s love with the children in the community. We need people to pass out candy from the trucks of your vehicles. If you don t want to pass out candy you could set up a game. Donations of candy are also needed; there is a box in the lobby. 3 MISSIONARY OF THE MONTH Dan and Sheryl Nepal GOD is working miracles for some of the world's poorest families! Many thanks to you who have joined with the Naya Geet Church and Studio TEN Ministries to provide clean drinking water and quality education for the Nepalese families within the reach of our Kathmandu Community Center. We are excited to announce that the last payment for the land has been wired on-time to make the August 28th deadline! The Lord's hand is so evident in the details... It is our joy to report that nearly 20% of the total finances needed was given through those who live in the second poorest nation in the world. Our God is not limited by the condition of world economies. Behold, the Lords s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. Isaiah 59:1 We praise the ONE who sees, hears and moves on behalf of the poor and needy. It will be awesome to hear the testimonies from those of you who gave generously and sacrificially to purchase this land for the Community Water Project and Guardian Academy. The promises of God are true and sure. Proverbs 28:27 is no exception: He who gives to the poor will not lack, But he who hides his eyes will have many curses. We'll keep you informed as we are in contact with many organizations who are working to drill wells for those who are in need of clean water. You can help with this! Spread the word... be an instrument of blessing by getting involved in the next steps. Let's praise GOD together in what He is doing to bring attention to His great love for so many who need Him in Nepal. There are still 10 student educational scholarships ($28/mo) that remain unfunded for the Guardian Village kids, some new staff to pay, and some shortfalls in July giving have left us a few thousand short of our monthly needs. But August isn't over and God sees all -- His hand is not shortened. Thank you, LORD! Rejoicing in our loving Father's great mercy, Dan, for all at Studio TEN OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX TIME IS COMING... It s time to start shopping for items you want to pack into your Christmas Shoebox such as socks, t-shirts, toy jewelry, small toys, toothpaste & toothbrushes, etc. You can shop for boys or girls ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14! Help is needed for the Benevolent Supper served the first Wednesday of each month by our church at First Methodist. 4 Murl Lehman one of our Faith Promise missionaries from Miracle Hill will be preaching in our morning worship at 9 AM. Murl will also be sharing during Sunday School at 10:30 AM. OCTOBER 3rd October is Pastor Appreciation month. Let s all show our pastoral staff how much we love them with a hug around the neck, a warm handshake or a pat on the back. There will be a basket at the welcome center for cards of appreciation. We are reasonably sure homemade goodies would be well received.
