T. Doran Organist - Mary Reitsma, Pianist - Dina Zeilstra, Choir Director - Marve Wolterstorff, Violins - Bethany DeHaan, Cindy Vos, Song Leaders - Ashton Byrum, Gregg DeMey, Worship Band - Kyle Olson, Dan Vlcek Sunday worship services are streamed live and archived for viewing on the web via LIVESTREAM (new.livestream.com/ecrc). TODAY AT ELMHURST CRC Today is Worldwide Communion Sunday. In solidarity with Christians all over the globe, we'll celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper in worship today. All baptized members of the Body of Christ are invited to participate at an age and ability appropriate level. If you have received Jesus as both your Lord and Savior, if you are a repentant sinner and are actively striving to follow Jesus as one of his disciples, this Sacrament is intended for you. Today we look at the fundamental beliefs and doctrines of the five major world religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism and Christianity. We'll compare their views of salvation, their vision of our ultimate destiny and then observe what is unique about Christianity. Acts 4:12 puts it directly, Salvation is found in no one else (but Jesus) for there is no other name under heaven given by which we must be saved. NEXT WEEK AT ELMHURST CRC One church surveyed its members with this question: If you could ask God any question what would you want to know? The overwhelming answer was, Why is there suffering? The ultimate manual on understanding suffering is the Old Testament book of Job. The Job story puts suffering in perspective and also serves as a model for dealing with suffering. God didn t create evil, but evil exists and God is the resource by which we deal with the suffering that is part of life. Consider Job 23:10 to prepare for this service: "But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold." OUR CHURCH FAMILY Congratulations to David Stremler & Ellen Radandt, who were married on September 24. Congratulations to Kim Bulthuis & Derek Lejcar, who were married on September 24. We extend our sympathy to Maria & Rey Ramos and family as they mourn the loss of Maria s father, Lucas Torres, who passed away on September 26. Prayer Requests: Please pray for healing and strength for Lois Arthur, Doris Baur, Henrietta Hall, Marlene Iwema, Jack McNamara, Bill Poe, Maria Ramos, and Marilyn Ward.
