2 FROM THE PASTOR'S PRINTER Grace, peace, and mercy to you from God our Father, Christ our Redeemer, the Holy Ghost, our Comforter, Teacher, and earthly Guide. In Exodus 35:1-2, NKJV, we encounter these words: Then Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said to them, These are the words which the Lord has commanded you to do: 2 Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. From the premise of God taking time for sabbath, a time of rest from labor, we who follow Christ are to be living examples of this procedure as well. Our minds and bodies are not programmed for incessant, endless, strenuous work without the benefit of rest, recuperation, and restoration! Take some time away from the daily stresses of this present age by practicing Sabbath. If God, the Creator of the universe, Jesus Christ His Son and our Savior, and the countless other Biblical examples presented on the pages of Scripture took time for Sabbath, how much more should we who are so much less than God take time to give our minds and bodies a break? School doors, school buses, and school bells will soon be dusted off for the opening of a new academic year. Let us begin to pray for students, parents, Teachers, Administrators, School Board members, Bus Drivers, Custodians, and anyone else having responsibilities and duties that impact the reopening of the schools. Pray for their safety. Pray for educational, economical, mental, physical, social, and spiritual strength. Pray for funding sources to be brought to bear that support excellence in all of our schools! Pray that God will turn cold hearts into warm hearts for our children and all children! Pray, pray, pray! When we finish our prayers and have said our amens, we must also roll up our sleeves, put on our work gloves, gird up our strength, and work while it is yet day to enable the next generation of leaders to obtain a first-rate education! #IAmMSBC153 #thewarmestchurchincharleston 1 The New King James Version. 4 August is Vacation Bible School was held June 25th - 30th. Vaccines are not just for kids. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), thousands of American adults get sick each year from diseases that vaccines can prevent. For patients with asthma or COPD, vaccines are an important step in protecting their health from serious diseases like influenza and pneumonia. In fact, the CDC reports that chronic lung disease was one of the most commonly reported underlying medical conditions among adults who were hospitalized with laboratoryconfirmed influenza during the flu season. Less than half of adults under age 65 with asthma and COPD get the vaccines they need to protect against influenza and pneumococcal disease. 5 AUGUST IS HAPPINESS - HAPPENS MONTH Are you smiling or growing? SMILE??? That was Jayla. Always smiling, always finding the silver lining. Jenna? GRRRR!!! Jenna was the opposite. Jenna could find the bad on the best days. Do you have a friend like Jayla? Do you have a friend like Jenna? Which one do you emulate in your life? Happiness is a choice. It has been said many times and will be said many more times throughout your life, we cannot choose the circumstances and situations in our live, but we can choose how we react to what life may bring. Christians always have a reason to be happy Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior! He is always with us, ever in our darkest hours! We are never alone! It is a joy that we should strive to share with others, for all should know true happiness that can only come through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, the world is not perfect and that joy that we should exude from knowing our Savior can often be overwhelmed by everyday problems.
