5 A Mighty Fortress This hymn is known as e Battle Hymn of e Reformation and e greatest hymn of e greatest man of e greatest period of German history. Written in 1529 by Martin Luer, it expressed his confidence of victory during his intense struggle wi e Roman Caolic church.
