I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will 5 6

4 THE PRAYERS (you may remain seated) A With the people of God gathered here and throughout the world, we offer our prayers for the church, those in need, and all of creation. A brief silence. A For Christ s church on earth and for those who proclaim the good news of your reign, that all divisions cease, let us pray. A For your creation in all its beauty, for water and land, plants and animals, and for those who advocate for the just use of the earth, that all creatures enjoy life abundant, let us pray. A For government leaders, for those who provide justice and safety, and for those in wartorn places, that all be guided by the peace of the Lord, let us pray. A For those traveling this week, for those gathered with family and friends, for protection from inclement weather, and for the body of Christ gathered here, let us pray. A In thanksgiving for all the saints who lived their lives giving thanks to God and are now at rest, that their witness strengthen our confidence in the resurrection to eternal life, let us pray. Here other intercessions may be offered. P For the alienated, for the sick and suffering, for those living with HIV/AIDS, and for those in need of reconciliation (especially), that God provide them with skilled medical practitioners and counselors, let us pray. P Almighty God, you have promised to hear those who call upon your name. We commend all our spoken and silent prayers to you, trusting in your abundant mercy; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Refreshments will be available both before and after the service. Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner A free community Thanksgiving dinner will take place on Thanksgiving Day at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Glenwood Avenue, serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. We have again volunteered pies, pumpkin or fruit; no custard or cream, please. These may be brought to the church here on Wednesday or delivered to St. Paul s at 4 p.m. on Wednesday or Thursday morning. Volunteers are also needed that day with serving, greeting, and cleanup. In November 2015 Simon was a passenger involved in a serious automobile accident that left him not only in a wheelchair, but starting over in life completely. His family and friends invite you to join them in showing Simon your support as he continues to heal to inspire others along the way.
